I have a ton of NASCAR Video games.

- NASCAR Racing

- NASCAR Legends

- NASCAR Rumble

- NASCAR Sim Racing - EA Sports

- NASCAR 98

- NASCAR 99

- NASCAR 2000

- NASCAR Heat

- NASCAR 2001

- NASCAR Heat 2002

- NASCAR Thunder 2002 (PS1 and PS2)

- NASCAR Thunder 2003

- NASCAR Thunder 2004

- NASCAR Dirt to Daytona

- NASCAR Racing 2003 Season - probably the greatest NASCAR game ever. I still play it to this day. The modding has really kept it alive.

- NASCAR 05 Chase for the Cup

- NASCAR Sim Racing

- NASCAR 06 Total Team Control

- NASCAR PlayStation portable

- NASCAR 07

- NASCAR 08 (PS2 and PS3)

- Days of Thunder: NASCAR Edition

- NASCAR The Game 2011

- NASCAR The Game Inside Line (PS3 and Xbox 360)

- NASCAR the Game 2013

- NASCAR '14

- NASCAR Unleashed

I also have Gran Turismo 5 and Project Cars which both have NASCAR race cars in them.

05 Chase For the Cup had the potential to be the best NASCAR game that EA put out, but the constant skipping/freezing killed it.

EA totally gave up after 06 Total Team control and then after 09 gave all the Plaustation and Xbox players the shaft when they put out NASCAR kart racing on Wii.

Eutechnyx imploded on themselves after Inside Line when they decided to fire a ton of employees and stop all communication on the forums (I was part of those forums and from what was I recall being said no one from Eutechnyx was even talking to the moderators at one point). They then abruptly shut both the NASCAR the Games forums and the Eutechnyx forums down when DMi took over.

EA Sports can be totally blamed for the state of the NASCAR video games. In 2003 they took the exclusive license which ran both Papyrus/Sierria and Monster Games out of NASCAR to only a few years later totally give up on it. Eutechnyx did the best that they could but the stuff going on behind the scenes won out.

It's looking better now with both Ed Martin and Tom Dusenberry in charge and then having brought Monster Games into it. Martin was part of the team that did the NASCAR Thunder games at EA, along with the NASCAR Racing series at Papyrus and was with Eutechnyx as well. Dusenberry was part of the team that did the NASCAR Heat/Dirt to Daytona games with Monster Games.

The NASCAR video game license is in by far the best spot it's been since before EA took the exclusive license.

NR2003 is the best NASCAR game to date, I agree, I was just playing it today and it's so much fun.

IMO, I think 2011 was the best of the ETX games.

I'm optimistic for Heat: Evolution. If it's better than the ETX games, I'll be satisfied.

theGTAking101

Something I never noticed until someone on Reddit mentioned - the cars seem to be tilted the wrong way. Like the left side of the car is raised, and Tony's splitter is almost digging into the ground.

Oh well, probably just one of those bugs that should be fixed upon release.

Chip Ganassi Racing's #68 Ford GT has won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the GTE-Pro class. It's was Ganassi's first attempt at Le Mans, and the win comes on the 50th anniversary of Ford's first Le Mans win. The drivers of the #68 were Sebastien Bourdais, Joey Hand, and Dirk Muller. Ganassi ran 4 cars in this race (#66, #67, #68, and #69)

IndyCar driver Townsend Bell was one of the drivers of the GTE-AM class winning #62 Scuderia Corsa Ferrari team.

Here's the official cover of NACAR Heat: Evolution - https://twitter.com/NASCAR/status/746411296661217280

Kyle Busch hit a jack rabbit during opening practice at Sonoma - https://twitter.com/NASCARONFOX/status/746476047567204352

Josef Newgarden has been cleared to race this weekend in the IndyCar race at Road America - http://espn.go.com/racing/indycar/story/_/id/16482326/indycar-driver-josef-newgarden-makes-speedy-return-breaking-clavicle-wrist

Kyle Larson was fastest in opening practice at Sonoma, and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. was fastest in happy hour (practice #2).

theGTAking101

His grandfather's actually. Jeffrey is Kerry's son.

Yes that's what I meant. Speaking of that too bad Kerry never really had that much success in the sport.

Dale being anywhere near the front in practice surprised me, it looks like he's finally getting the hang of this track.

Ex Hellraiser

Damn, Newgarden is one tough sumbitch lol. He's apparently scheduled to practice. I can't imagine a NASCAR driver going out and racing in a similar situation, regardless of NASCAR's rules. Even if NASCAR allowed it with today's rules, I don't think many drivers would do it. Also, glad to see Jr and Larson up front. I'd love it if either one won this weekend. They are both due to win (Jr on a road course, Larson in general).

Well damn. John Wes Townley and Spencer Gallagher just got into a brawl in turn one at Gateway.

They went to the ground twice and then Townley landed several punches to Gallagher's face, before the NASCAR officials finally broke it up.

Both Townley and Gallagher have been invited to the NASCAR Hauler immediately after the race.

They had a run in on the track earlier on that ended with Towley in the wall and this second incident ended with them both into the wall.

Something about these rain delayed races.. Three red flags tonight, several huge hits for Matt Crafton, Jennifer Jo Cobb and Tyler Reddick and now a full on fight.....

Dude you have no idea how happy I am right now. That was classic Tony Stewart in the final turn, taking sh*t from nobody. It was great seeing so many teams congratulating him afterwards. Reminds me of Dale Sr. at Daytona in 1998.

I'm so hoping for a 2011 repeat. I think I'd even rather Tony win the title this year over Dale, and that's saying a lot.

So now he's at 49 wins, here's hoping he can reach 50 and possibly more!

Wow, that was an amazing last lap! It never occurred to me that Stewart could be a contender to win (mostly because I forgot about him lol). After hearing he won, I watched the replay of the last lap, and I got really confused when he got bumped out of the way by Hamlin, thinking to myself "Wait, I thought Stewart won?" and then seeing that pass in Turn 11 I was all smiles. He really deserves this.

I mean, he's been in two different automobile accidents that resulted in broken bones, and killed a guy (not really, but still), since the last time he won a race. For him to come back from all that, and win a race in his last year, I'm really happy for him.

Joe Gibbs Racing has announced that Matt Tifft will not be driving the #18 car in Friday Night's Xfinity Series race at Daytona due to surgery to remove a tumor growing on his brain. David Ragan will drive the car instead.

NASCAR Illustrated is done - http://talkingbiznews.com/1/acbj-kills-nascar-illustrated/

the story does not say what is happening with the writers or if refunds will be coming for people with active subscriptions (like me).. the last time they shut a magazine down like this - NASCAR Scene - all the people's subscripions were tranferred over to NASCAR Illustrated....

so now this is three times that I have been subscribed to a NASCAR magazine for it to get shut down - first Inside NASCAR - I subscribed, got the diecast that came with it, and never got a magazine or a refund.. - second was NASCAR Scene - and now NASCAR Illustrated. (I was already subscribed to Illustrated when Scene got shut down so nothing changed for me there)

On a side note, have you guys seen the gameplay for Heat: Evolution? I'm not gonna lie I wasn't impressed. It looks too arcady and the AI cars are lime immovable bricks. But then again Simulation Mode should be better. This probably wasn't the final product anyway, so it should get better...hopefully.

Here's 24 minutes of gameplay as well.

All I know is this:

1. It looks vastly different than the Eutechnyx games.

2. I hated the Eutechnyx games.

So far then, it looks like it will be a good game. I think the career mode is gonna be good. If there is driver/face customization, there will probably be places it will be used, such as victory lane and championship celebrations. I loved those little details from the 2003-2006 games. I can't imagine creating a driver for it to only be seen in the menus. The simulation mode sounds promising. Since moving on to "simulation" games from NASCAR (Forza), I'd like to think that I will be challenged by the simulation mode. One hard bump at Daytona will likely screw with aerodynamics and permanently slow you down. I can't wait.

EDIT: Now that I've watched part of the 24 minute gameplay video, I think I'll take a step back. I know that this is the next iteration of NASCAR Heat, but it doesn't look very evolved from Dirt to Daytona.

It looks like they've copy/pasted various things from it, like the engine noises, tire skidding noises, tire smoke appearing just in front of the car, handling looks the exact same, crowd cheering sounds approaching the finish line/after the race, etc. It looks more like Dirt to Daytona was updated with HD graphics and a texture pack with 2016 cars, and I would expect a LOT more than that from a game that comes out fourteen years and two console generations after its predecessor.

Now, I'm still excited for the game, because I liked the handling model and career from Dirt to Daytona, so the fact the handling model doesn't appear to have changed much doesn't really put me off. However, it appears thus far there isn't a whole lot of development that has gone into it.

that stuff like the noises will probably be different on release, seeing how at one point in the video Ed Martin said "from this build of the game" meaing it's likely not the final build of the game.

From what was said in another article they started trying to build off of what Eutechnyx had done but after seeing the mess put together by Eutechnyx they decided to start from scratch and build everything from the ground up. There is going to be no paint booth in this game also - they said they are leaving it out so they can concentrate on the actual racing.

The official list of drivers/sponsorshas grown from watching that video is curently is confirmed as -

1. #1 Jamie McMurray - Cessna

2. #2 Brad Keselowski - "Brad", Miller Lite (behind an age gate)

I can't believe that the simple reference to a brand would completely change a video game rating. Even when I was a little kid it annoyed me that Rusty and Dale Jr and Mark Martin had their sponsors censored. What is so wrong with the word "Bud" or "Coors?"

And on that same token, why were they still able to use Winston?

it actually has nothing to do with the ratings, it's more on the actual beer/energy drink companies. I know Eutechnyx tried to get all of them to sponsor but only Miller Lite did it with NASCAR '15. As for Martin and Viagra that again either fell to EA Sports or the company - Papyrus/Sierra had the both the Phizer and Viagra cars in NR2003 while EA Sports did not have the Viagra in NASCAR Thunder 2004 which came out the same year.

They can just throw every sponsor into the game without getting the required permission/licensing. One the things I learned over on the now closed Eutechnyx/NASCAR the Game forums is the teams and the sponsors send the developers renders of the paint scheme, so it really depends on what the teams send them as far as what they do for the schemes.

this #NASCARThrowback show on NBCSN is pretty awesome. They are showing the 2001 Pepsi 400 and the current and former commentators from NBC SPorts along with drivers, teams, crew chief's, crew members, ect... are live tweeting the race and they are showing the tweets on tv under the broadcast and are showing tweets from fans as well.

theGTAking101

Man, pretty big hit. Reminds me of Earnhardt's 2001 wreck with the way he over corrected it. Also made me think of Jeff Burton's 210 Talladega crash.

Also, I wish they'd do away with that hideous zebra looking paint scheme.

Ex Hellraiser

Well, I just found out I get NBCSN (not sure if I just got access this year or if I just couldn't find it amongst hundreds of channels before lol) so I can actually watch the second half of the season. The Xfinity race is just insane right now. Amazingly close racing. Lots of cautions. Real bad luck for Suarez. Glad he walked away from that. That looked almost identical to Kyle Busch last year, even down to how he got loose. big difference being he hit the safer barrier.

NASCAR needs to get it together with throwing the caution on the final lap. The crash happened mid way down the backstretch they left it green all the way to between Turn 4 and Pit entrance and then threw the caution out.

Almirola wins. He finally got himself a win in the Xfinity Series. Remember his win at Memphis came with Denny Hamlin in the car, after he got kicked out of the car part way into the race because of the sponsor wanting Hamlin in the car. Hamlin got to the track late to Almirola started the race.

edit: Bubba Wallace just roasted race control on Twitter -

bubba11_zpsbfkxubhi.png

I am guessing that is in response to the no calls from race control on the push drafting.

edit2: Sounds like NASCAR made the right call throwing the caution. Apparently Ryan Ellis requested medical assistance over the radio, and is in the care center right now.

edit3: apparently Ellis drove back to pit road and then called for medical assistance.
