Looks like they already have another sponsor. They'll be announcing the new sponsor in a month.

Dale always had nice looking patriotic cars, I'm also glad to see the silver numbers back on his car. This one's actually a reference to his father's 1996 Olympic car:

But does anyone else agree that Johnson's patriotic car looks god awful?

His 2014 car was probably the best:

Here's another Coke 600 scheme:

I am so glad that they finally voted Benny Parsons into the Hall of Fame, he should have gone in before Bruton Smith, the owner of SMI did.

not NASCAR but... NAPA Auto Parts, Chase Elliot's sponsor, stepped up to sponsor Andretti Autosport with Bryan Herta Autosport #98 team with rookie Alexander Rossi earlier this week for the Indianapolis 500........ well it paid off huge. Rossi just won the 100th Indianapolis 500.

It is the #98 team's second Indianapolis 500 win in the last 5 years. The late Dan Wheldon won the 2011 Indy 500 after JR Hildebrand crashed in the last turn.

edit: the Coca-Cola 600 has been pushed up by 10 minutes due to possible rain. The 600 will now start around 6:08pm EST.

I always love the pre-race festivities at the Indy 500. It's a great atmosphere and it would be awesome to be there.

I'm happy to see a young guy win, and man he was close on fuel.

At first I was cheering for my fellow Canadian Hinchcliffe, but after he faded I was cheering for Kanaan, then at the end I was cheering for Hildebrand when he was up front, it would've been nice to see him get redemption for 2011.

Every week Fox Sports becomes a bigger joke.... They show a Coca-Cola promotion and Darrell Waltrip proceeds to open a can of Coca-Cola in the booth and drink it.... now two on-screen graphics falures in a period of 5 seconds - The second Caution comes out for Brian Scott's spin and on the on-scren graphics they show it as being the first caution, completely ignoring the competition caution, and then immediately after pulling that fail off the screen the graphic changes to showing that it is "NASCAR Overtime" on Lap 115 of 400....

They seriously can not go a single broadcast without failing on the on-screen graphics...

this race is depressing.
every 15 minutes they interrupt the action to mention a dead US soldier and how they died. great, thanks. we get it.

this is just poorly produced. what a stupid idea.

I can't keep watching :/

I took graphic design as my specialty in high school and I pretty much slept my way through it and I could do a better job of conducting FOX's special effects than they do...

Didn't get to see much of the race, but I'm really glad Truex finally got the win he deserved. He absolutely dominated all race, and he was way overdue.

EDIT: There doesn't appear to be an IndyCar topic, but did any of you see the end of the race? I thought it was really interesting. So many people have a problem with fuel mileage racing, but I think it makes it so much more intense. Racing is all about risk/reward, and that may very well have been the biggest risk (I don't follow Rossi, so I don't know how talented he is) Rossi will take in his racing career, and it resulted in him winning the 100th Indy 500.

It was an ballsy turn of strategy. And the fact he finished out of fuel at practically highway speed makes it that much more amazing to me.

I always watch IndyCar, they put on some of the best races by far. The whole race was crazy, both on track and in pit road. I was hoping to see Townsend Bell win it and he was probably going to up until he crashed with his teammate Ryan Hunter-Reay and Helio Castroneves on pit road.

Rossi is actually under contract as a reserve driver with Manor Racing in F1 and despite the fact that F1 is all road and street courses his best runs in IndyCar have been on the ovals at Phoenix and Indy so he definitely has some talent.

IndyCar has a doubleheader this week in Detroit on the street course at Belle Isle with a full race on Saturday and another full race on Sunday then they go to Road America after that so they got some good races coming up.

SHR gm Greg Zipadelli said something about old sponsors and old paint schemes being a possibility.

Seeing how we have not seen Stewart's Darlington car yet (but have seen the other 3 SHR cars for that race) maybe they are running something special there.

So there was a physical altercation in the garage during today's rain shortened Xfinity Series race between Ryan Reed and Ryan Seig that resulted in punches being thrown and Reed getting pushed over a pile of tires. Both of their pit crews were also involved in the fight that began after Reed wrecked Seig and then when Reed wrecked with Jeremy Clements.

I guess FOX/FS1 still has not caught on for the need of something permnant on screen alerting people that they are showing last year's Pocono race, because twitter is blowing up like it has every time since FOX quit putting "rain delay" on screen before 2012 when they caused mass confusion for the Daytona 500 and this time everyone is asking why Jeff Gordon is in the #24 and not Elliott....

Nick Bromberg of Yahoo! Sports has been retweeting a bunch of these tweets - https://twitter.com/NickBromberg

he's a good one to follow along with Geoffrey Miller of Athlon Sports - https://twitter.com/GeoffreyMiller - They always call NASCAR and the boradcasters (mostly FOX/FS1 since they are always screwing up) on their stupidity and it's rather funny to see.

EDIT: THE AXALTA "WE PAINT WINNERS" 400 FROM POCONO HAS BEEN POSTPONED BY RAIN TO TOMORROW AT NOON EST ON FS1, MRN, AND SIRIUS/XM NASCAR RADIO CHANNEL 90.

glad I got tomorrow off from work.

It's crazy how dumb some people can be while they're showing old races.

It's funny, during the rain delay in the 2014 Daytona 500, they showed the 2013 race and everyone was spamming Johnson congratulating him. I'm sure a bunch of those people actually thought they the 2014 race was live and that Johnson won 2 in a row..

Alex Bowman tweeted a few minutes ago that his cell phone is blowing up from people saying it is good to see him back in a Cup car....

you can't really blame the people since FOX/FS1 is too stupid to put something permanant on screen that says today's race is postponed that they are showing an old race.

Race #2 of the Chevrolet Dual in Detroit IndyCar race is about to start on ABC. Sebastien Bourdais won Race #1 yesterday.

edit: it looks like NAPA Auto Parts must have extended their agreement with Andretti Autosport with Bryan Herta Autosport and Indy 500 champion Alexander Rossi. ABC just showed Rossi's car and it still has the NAPA logos and paintscheme on it.

edit: yup they extended for the Dual in Detroit - http://editor.ne16.com/vo/?FileID=c69095e5-b77a-4854-a3b4-02866f38a1bf&ListID=1000014

edit: well that was a bizarre start... Rahal pitted, Dixon about wrecked the entire field, and then going into turn 1 Takuma Sato, James Hinchcliffe, and Max Chilton wreck to bring out the full course caution. Charlie Kimball ran both Carlos Munoz and Hinchcliffe over and ran Hinch into the wall.

Hinch blames Munoz without knowing Kimball ran them over. Says before the green Munoz was runing him to the wall. Indycar is reviewing the incident, as they should. Kimball should be penalized for avoidable contact. edit: They moved Castroneves behind Kanaan for avoidable contact with Kanaan and Dixon in a different incident.

Edited by kk9fan97

wow. Keselowski just got blackflagged for unapproved body adjustments. They have to bring the car back to pit road and fix it.

edit: lol Logano just got owned by Newman. He about wrecked Newman on the restart, so going through Turn 1, Newman hit him not once, not twice, but three times and moved him totally out of the way and in the process bent the left rear bumper and quarter panel on Logano's car.

Horrific crash in the IndyCar Series race at Texas. Connor Daly got loose out of turn 4 and went up the track into Josef Newgarden which sent both into the ouside wal extremely hard. Newgarden' car turned over on to it's side, and then slid cockpit first into the wall with Daly's car pushing him into it.. Newgarden got out of his car and immediately collapsed. Daly walked away from his car. The Halmatro Safety Team got Newgarden onto a backboard and as they were loading Newgarden into the ambulance he waved.

The SAFER Barrier where they first hit has a huge hole in it. Scott Dixon was behind the wreck and hit a huge piece of debris and and has a big peiece of it stuck between is right front tire and the car.

Ex Hellraiser

I don't know, man. I really hope Newgarden is alright. I'm sure he's got a bad concussion and probably some compression. It certainly doesn't take much for an Indycar to turn into a torpedo. I really give props to those in IndyCar. They have such a greater level of inherent danger than any other professional racing series.

IndyCar released an update on Newgarden. He sustained a broken right clavicle, and has a small fracture on his right hand - https://twitter.com/IndyCar/status/742135962419875840

the race itself never went back green, and was halted by rain. It will be made up on August 27th and resume on lap 71. It was rescheduled to that date due to team members from Chip Ganassi Racing, along with drivers Scott Dixon, Sebastien Bourdais, Mikhail Aleshin and Townsend Bell needing to travel to Le Mans for the activities for the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

so should we start up a thead dedicated to IndyCar or leave it here?

BREAKING: A major fire has occurred at Thorsport Racing (Truck Series #13 Cameron Hayley, #41 Ben Rhodes, #88 Matt Crafton & #98 Rico Abreu). The fire started in the basement around midnight last night and it took fire fighters nearly 8 hours to get the fire under control. The whole back of the building is destroyed and it sounds like the front where the finished Trucks are was not touched by the fire but there is a chance that there is going to be smoke and water damage.

Thorsport Racing put out an official statement a couple of hours ago while the fire was stll out of control - http://myemail.constantcontact.com/ThorSport-Racing-Official-Statement.html?soid=1109591091029&aid=Bj_VcEiKzm0

The Sandusky (Ohio) Scanner Live facebook page posted a picture of the damage to the building (top left you can see fire) - https://www.facebook.com/167797306707716/photos/a.215582168595896.1073741828.167797306707716/634834593337316/?type=3&theater

edit: more pictures of the damage - https://twitter.com/jillyburnsphoto/status/742375964546584576

edit: the team says some of their trucks survived the fire. They removed all four of their haulers from the building along with some of their tool boxes and pit boxes before the fire spread. Also Kyle Busch Motorsports has reached out to Thorsport and offered them assistance, as has other teams.

Tonight on NBC at 8pm est, NASCAR driver Ricky Stenhouse, Jr., and IndyCar Series drivers Tony Kanaan, Helio Castroneves, and Josef Newgarden will be competing on American Ninja Warrior (This was taped well before yesterday's crash that left Newgarden injured). IndyCar driver Ed Carpenter and a few others were there as well but not competing.

edit: Newgarden just did his run. Danica Patrick is there, and so is James Hinchcliffe.

Something I don't quite understand, is what's going on with the commercial that they're shooting. It has so much random scenery. I guess it's just to make it look nice.

When DMi posted that screenshot on Instagram, it's stupid how many people were saying it was Forza. First of all, Allmendinger and Truex aren't in Forza, and second of all, it makes no sense for the company to post a screenshot from another game. Some people.

The game seems to be coming along really well so far.

Ex Hellraiser

I haven't been this excited for a NASCAR game in a long time. I absolutely loved Dirt to Daytona, and I still have it (I just wish I had time to play it again. The last really good one was probably Total Team Control. 04 and 05 were the best two, but after 06 it quickly went downhill. Every game from Eutechnyx was crap. I bought 2011 simply because it was the first full game in years, and it turned out to be crap, and the subsequent games looked and felt the exact same. High hopes for Monster Games.
