The I Miss the Mechanic Thread (Official)

This thread is a dedication to the highly critised, much misunderstood mechanic, and an outlet for those who miss him so.

 

He always played, without a doubt, the best music station around, and was a decent source of easy, stat building head shot kills. If I could, I would post a video of TSOL - Abolish Government, but I can't paste into the text box.

what makes this thread 'official'?

 

anyways i kinda do miss him. half the time as soon as i hit the button to request the vehicle, it would spawn instantly and drive towards me. now it takes forever, is parked down the road and i have to run to it. the upside is that those occasions that the mechanic drives AWAY from you, or gets back in your vehicle and 'steals' it, or you bump into him and he wants to fight you and throws you out the car - those wont happen

We should be able to have remodelled 3D era characters as our mechanics. Imagine Big Smoke bringing you your Entity, and it wouldn't clash with the HD era/3D era universe thing. They wouldn't be a major character.

I do miss Johnny On The Spot. Now I pay $50 per day to some jerk who still won't deliver my vehicle to the top of Mount Chilly-nads or a dirt road in David Blaine County. What's the point? I can't trust a man I can see so why should I allow this $50 magician to teleport my personal vehicle?

In a way I kinda miss him too. I mean, I use to be able to stand in the parking lot of the Rockford mod shop and he would bring my vehicle right to me. Now it spawns around the corner somewhere.

 

All in all, I like this new way more. It's a lot better than watching my vehicle drive away with some asshat behind the wheel literally around the highway until he finds a path to my location.

I do find it annoying that my vehicles are not delivered to *me* any more. They're "delivered" somewhere nearby. Not really helpful when you're in the middle of something and want to make a quick getaway.

 

But, on the plus side, I delivered a car to Simeon earlier and got my bike delivered to me right there. The mechanic could never deliver it there before.

No, no it wasn't. Screw you and take this baseball bat. And what, 50 dollars a day just to deliver our car sometimes, or crash it, or not answer the God damned phone, or drive off somewhere, or crash the car. God I hated that mechanic, but I miss him

I don't know why people are even bringing up Channel X. Your car or bike is still on that sh*thole of a channel when it's delivered.

I dont know why everyone seemed to dislike him. He always brought me my car. sometimes it was around the corner but the same sh*t happenes now. I could have used him in SP.

I was never that bothered by the mechanic aside from when he started driving the car away. Once I started looking up in the sky he was way better. Now the car spawns two blocks away and rather than having it (at least a good portion of the time) driven to me I gotta run and get it.

I'll admit when he first stopped showing up I was happy, now I'm sad because I felt like a boss having my car delivered to me. I wish they could have fixed him rather than taking him away completely. Our love was a forbidden love but it was love all the same...

Aw man, I liked the mechanic. He was an go-getter with a positive attitude. Like the guy above said, I always felt like a boss when he brought the car around. I'd have tipped him each time if I could.

It honestly makes no difference to me wheter my car is delivered by a mechanic or transports to me. As long as I get it is all that I care about.

I miss the thrill of the chase as he goes to deliver a car and then decides, "stuff this, he beat me with a bat the last time when I told him of that scratch- that I didn't do!" and disappears onto the freeway and I give chase- wondering "should I shoot my own vehicle?" and "why did I bother with bullet proof tyres?"

I miss him too though- at least 90% of the time the car arrived somewhere near my character and not around the block.

I think they got rid of him since he was complicit in people's car dupe racketeering.

 

I enjoyed the odd rebellion but he was always pretty reliable if you didn't watch him work. The one thing I would've been pleased to see the back of is poxy Channel X and that's still there. Now I have further to walk for it, lose-lose for me.
