How can a player be invincible, yet not in passive mode?

I was doing a gang Attack and another player (rank 30-something) came along and started stealing the money, so I tried shooting him to get him to pi55 off.

No matter what I did, the fkr would not die or even be affected by me unloading multiple clips into him with the MG. WTF?? Then he got in his car and drove off.

Fkn pi55ed me right off. He wasnt in passive mode, his blip was normal. Was he cheating or what?

I hate players who do this kind of sh1t especially when I do my own thing and dont grief anyone unless they start on me first

Because you can't kill a player when they are in a gang attack...

I don't think you or other players can shoot each other during gang attacks.

Same thing tonight. I was in a gang attack, that I had initiated. But being freeroam, of course, some asshole comes along to spoil my fun. The guy knew how to kill me even though I was in a gang attack - he just hit me with his car, and kept running over me. Either he killed me or the NPCs did.

 

I respawned out of range and went into cover, and I could see his white dot and the gang NPCs' red circles. The guy kept getting killed 2 or 3 times by the NPCs, and it was taking forever. I thought, what a lousy-ass player he is, if he can't take down the last 3 NPCs. I eventually got bored waiting for him to kill the rest of the NPCs (and claim all my crates) and I went out and shot the last NPC. At this point, the gang attack was all over.

 

Then I kind of ignored the guy as I was running around to the crates to get my ammo and $500 payoffs, and then I saw him coming toward me on foot. I ducked into cover and prepared to take him out in revenge for running me down. He was not flashing, he was a solid image. He pointed his gun at me momentarily, and I so I decided that was the moment to let him have a full clip from my AP Pistol. But to my surprise, He just kept walking toward me, getting within probably 10 feet, and I could not auto-aim on him. I did my best free-aim and put several shots into him, but they just went right through. He did not shoot me back.

 

So I was thinking that maybe he had a lag switch going, or something like that, and that is why he could not kill the NPCs, and why I could not aim on him or shoot him. In any case, it was a weird event and not normal, and the guy was an asshole.

How long are we invincible after the gang attack is over? I could really use that feature.

 

EDIT: Never mind - I see now that the OP was still in the gang attack when this happened. So I see how this works. Maybe I will go raid other people's gang attacks, and take their crate contents while they are still busy fighting off the NPCs.

Damn i forgot i posted this, a similar thing made me remember it. Anyway yeah I was annoyed when i posted it, whatever.

Thinking back, I think we had strayed just outside the gang attack area when this happened, it was out in the street not in the railyard at the time. But for info, I could shoot the player, Its not like the weapon wouldnt fire when pointed at him, it did fire... and hit him ... a lot ! but had no effect. I didnt see how he could withstand that much firepower at pretty much point blank range and just seemed fishy to me
