OurJud
For as long as I can remember, my favorite gaming genre has been the FPS, especially of the open-world variety, but something that's always puzzled me is why developers seem to struggle so much in getting the height of your character correct. It's especially noticeable when approaching a flight of stairs, where your eye-level is seemingly just a few inches above each step, or when you approach a vehicle and find you're only just taller than the wheel. Tables are another one. You walk up to a table in a FP game and you appear to be about four-feet tall. I accept it's impossible to simulate and render a real, three-dimensional world on a two-dimensional television screen, as there are so many factors that can't be accounted for; not just peripheral vision, but your awareness and perception of the things around you. However, there are many areas - such as the ones I mentioned - where it seems the developers could resolve the scale issues if they gave them a little more consideration. Thoughts?
