R.I.P North Yankton

Well, as we all know, North Yankton is no more, as they have patched the means of getting there. Let's all mourn our loss by posting the best Snapmatic photos we have of the fallen State. Here's some of mine.

Don't Worry. Rockstar as we know want money. North Yankton = Great New DLC = Possibly More Money!

You can't get there but it was there for a reason. Clearly it will return in a future DLC.

Or maybe the developers just thought "There's no way people will get access back there, may as well just leave it...". I don't imagine it'd take up much file space anyway?

North Yankton will probably be released as DLC down the road. Not sure if this has to do with anything, but on the Social Club, when searching or looking for jobs by location, North Yankton is listed as a location that can be checked and It will search for any jobs that were made there.

I doubt that considering R* had to remove content to fit the game onto Xbox360 and PS3. Mark my words, future DLC.

Just like Ghost Town in GTA III, Marco's Bistro in Vice City and Saint Marks in San Andreas, right?

But seriously, they'll probably throw us a few deathmatches or more if people complain enough.

DLC what ? It's just a background for the story -_-

Don't get any hope too high cause you will most likely be disappointed

They might as well add a Jetpack DLC at that point...

Sorry, these things mean nothing to me. Not played those games but previous GTA's have been a lot smaller than GTA V.

That would be nice, but it would be even better if they completed the map, made it more solid, and just released it as a separate server to join on, where you could do free roam, deathmatches, races, etc.

This picture is special, it can only be taken at an special location at an exact time.

You can't take more of these pictures until someone discover an third entry point to NY. Both entry point ("Prologue" and "Bury the Hatchet" missions) have been patched by Rockstar.

I agree with your point, but OTOH those games also came out before console DLC became a regular practice.

Basically, all three of those things served the exact same purpose as North Yankton. And you were never allowed to go back outside of glitches/exploits.

Could it come back as DLC? Possibly, but acting like that HAD to be the plan from the get go or that it is an inevitability seems ignorant as Rockstar North has always created mission specific world spaces for storytelling reasons.

Like I said, they could make a DLC out of it. And if people speak up enough, they'll probably make it available for Online, or at the very least give us some deathmatches and a race or two.

What's so special about North Yankton ? And why should there be a DLC about it ?

People want what they can't have.

It's the same reason Ghost Town was such a big thing to go to in GTA III and Saint Marks was a big hunt during the San Andreas days.

I don't see it as ignorant in the least, just looking at it reasonably. Why else would they include such a detailed area in a game that had to have it's size reduced before release to fit onto the current generation of consoles available at the release date?

For storytelling purposes, the same reason they did it in all the other games. I already answered that.

Also, source for all this "size had to be reduced" stuff? It is already there, so I don't see how this point makes any sense at all.

In order for North Yankton to return as a DLC, they would have to create a new lobby for North Yankton players specifically. So people that are grouping there don't communicate with people in Los Santos. It only makes sense to not isolate people from playing with each other (entering a lobby and having 10 people in Yankton and 2 in Los Santos). As well, they would have to add a means to get there, which would be via an airport ticket or possibly flying there by going a specific way on the map and once you hit a certain region it removes you from the lobby and places you in a new one via a loading screen.

After all that they then must give players an incentive to visit the area. "Yay snow!" is not a valid reason to add an entire new map with nothing there. They would have to create new stores which would take time by developing newer game object models; even transporting old stores such as Suburban or Binco would take time since they would still have to create game models for the buildings it would occupy. They would have to have housing, they would have to add stores to rob, possibly a bank (once heists is released), an airport to travel back, Los Santos Customs, and so forth.

Sorry to be the asshole of the thread, but don't get your hopes up for North Yankton. If you want the real reason why the bug was patched, it's because it's a bug - period. If they decide to add a North Yankton you'll have to wait another year or two, Heists alone has taken 4 months (5 when March comes as we all know it won't be coming with the Valentines Day special going on).

JOEsAGGRESSIVE

it was a cool place and all but I'd much rather have Las Venturas be a DLC for single player(hopefully multi player too). So much more you could do there than just a snowy Blaine County, IMO.

It wont be a future pay for DLC because if you're in a server playing with friends or want to play with friends who haven't purchased it and some have it and some don't then surely that would mess up the whole experience?

be like gtaiv. You couldn't join other players that had the complete edition of the game.

This is what puzzles me about GTA Online.

We know it's a fair assumption that ONE of the cities we've seen before will appear, because they want to keep this going "forever" and have it as a standalone product... which is why it's called GTO and not GTAV MP

So what's gonna happen with future expansions to the map/maps... are they gonna charge for additional "places" or do current users get it free and you buy it as a whole at whatever stage it's at when you get it for the first time

The GTA community is so backwards. Really:

>Gets a game with a huge california themed playground

>puts alot of effort into getting to a tiny town covered in snow.

When North Yankton finally become DLC and the map is designed to be connected with the real Canada and basically there will be road blocks like in GTA3 Shoreside Vale,I'm sure people gonna be complaining again.
