What is a 'Bot'?

A few days ago I was playing in a public free roam and these 3 guys who were in the same crew decided to target me due to my high level. They falsely labelled me as a 'Hacker' and a 'Glitcher' and decided to deal out their idea of 'justice'. However, their plan didn't go like they wanted it to and as they approached me I stood still pretending to be AFK and shot them all as they came closer and laughed down my microphone which only agitated them further.

 

Anyway, they carried on fighting me and killed me a few times (It was 3 vs 1) but I actually was beating them, they weren't very good to be honest and I didn't find them to be much of a challenge apart from when they used tactics to come at me at the same time to make it awkward for me. Well I heard one of them on the mic say 'This is definitely a bot' and his mates agreed. What is a 'bot'? I know it's short for a robot, but how would I have an aiming bot on the PS3 to kill other players in free roam? Surely you cannot have something like this.

 

OR is this just the new way of admitting that somebody is better than you without actually admitting it? Ie.

Noob: U R A BOT!! FAG!!! (Translation: You own me and I am your bitch, please f*ck my mother and sister and proceed to wipe your dick on my curtains).

 

I don't understand this f*ckery and would like better insight on this.

I'd consider auto aim a bot-type advantage. That why I stopped playing it when people were one shotting me as I drove by max speed in a infernus. Worse than the friggin cops that auto aim.

This is what I thought. I took it as a compliment that the guys thought I was a bot though. I was beating them down without too much struggle considering it was a 3 on 1 and this made me laugh a bit.

 

I would like to think that this isn't possible. But alas, these little turds will find new ways of cheating when Rockstar fixes the old way.

I guess they meant aimbot. A popular name for a pc hack. In games like cod/bf/cs series that allowed you to lock on to people(like auto aim) from across the map and always get head shots. Used in conjunction with unlimited ammo; some allow you to shoot through walls. I'm sure someone could use it in a modded console. Wouldn't surprise me.

A 'Bot' typically refers to a program used to perform repetitive tasks. Spew out spam messages on commant boards, for example. In an online games, a Bot, Botter, Botting, etc, is basically the same thing. Run a program in conjuction with the game to automatically farm enemies or dungeons and whatever the hell you want it to do.

 

Then you have an aimbot, which is what they should have been referring to, but that's different and self-explanatory.

 

Either way, they make things easy for people.

Sometimes it can be more than a hindrance than anything. Also players cant auto aim 3-5 blocks away, with a pistol, cops can though.

the 'aimbot' is why I stopped playing freeaim lobbies. Too many players used this tactic in DM. Got outta hand. Now I just use autoaim lobbies. That way I'm not surprised.

The same thing happens in COD, you kill someone a few times and suddenly, you're an hacker/bot. (and someone f*cks your mother, but I'm sure she has her reasons, she is an adult)

Hah thinking about aimbots takes me back to my team fortress classic days. Bots in that game were bananas.

 

Such a demon might exist for a modded ps3 but damn so much work for such a cheater payoff. Don't think it'd be common.

Bots- plays the game for you. Handy in World of Watcraft. You turn on a program and you character will start mineing, killig , harvesting plants while your put cooking. Can even program to avoid enemys
