No Job Descriptions. At all. And no fix.

Been having this issue for over two months now. I have googled it to death, only finding more people with the same issue and absolutely zero help.

 

Whenever I am playing GTA Online on my living room console, I do not recieve any job description or info other than the name when I am invited. Obviously, this can drive you nuts when you think your joining a super car race and it loads you on a bicycle. As far as fixes go, I have deleted and reinstalled ALL GTA info atleast 3x times, including all install data and updates. No fix. I have switched GTA Online disks (we own two copies of the game), I have used different flash drives all rated for the Xbox, and I have all ports for the Xbox forwarded and the DMZ mode on the router enabled.

 

My Xbox in my bedroom works fine. Just this one in the living room. I emailed R* support on 1/15/14 and never heard back, and now am completely unable to log into the R* social page. I'm about to give up on GTA Online, still no heists, glitchers still running rampant, and I can't even play the game the way it was designed.

 

Has anybody had this issue and beat it? It seems R* couldn't care less about helping me, otherwise I would have back from them sometime in the last month. I can post screen shots for clarification.

My R* Social club account log in no longer works on this or any PC, even with the correct log in info. No resposne on my month old help ticket. I'm furious. This game is unplayable and all R* wants to do is put out more stupid DLC and not fufill promises they made before game release.

I'm really stumped with this. Considering all that I have done trouble shooting wise, I can't think of anything left to do. I've deleted everything GTA wise, done all fresh installs, have all the required DLC packs, have enough storage, have proper internet set up, even used multiple copies of the game! Nothing seems to work.

 

Forgot to mention I'm on a 360S.

When you say you don't get a description of the job does this include contact missions?

 

Here is how the invite system works.

 

If you are in the same room as the person that is inviting you to the mission / race etc you will see in the bottom left hand side of the screen the invite with a small description. If you then go into the phone you can read the full description of the job via the job icon and clicking on the job there.

 

However

 

If you are invited to a job or a mission when the person is inviting you is in a different session you will only get the small description pop up at the bottom left hand side. When you then go into the job icon via the phone the only information about the job that you have been invited to is the name. There will be NO description such as bike race etc etc.

 

Im only pointing this out incase this is what is happening. Try and get a friend in the same session as you and then send the invite.

 

If this isn't the issue then I really don't know. Have you checked the options ingame just incase there has been something that has been turned off by accident. Its a long shot I know.

Firstly, thanks for being one of only 2 people across 3 GTA websites, R* Support and R* Supports Forum in a 2 month period to actually try to help. Seriously.

 

It happens with any mission, regardless of what type, how it originates, or whether the invite is from a player in my lobby or not. The only thing I can view is the name of the mission, and that is it, regardless of any other factors.

 

For example, I can call Martin and get invited to any mission he has, the little text invite will only say the name of the mission, but will not have any description or other information. Usually there is a 2-3 sentence description of the jobs, as I have seen on every other console I have played on. Even in between jobs at the voting screen, when I select a job it shows the name, but leaves that massive text box on the bottom left for the job description blank. The job can be R* Created, R* Verified, Custom, whatever, anything at all, no job descriptions no matter what I do. I've gone through every menu I can find on GTA and there is no way to turn this on or off.

 

The only thing I can think of is that my console for whatever reason isn't downloading the descriptions from R*, but for that I have no reasoning as I have an open NAT with a DMZ configured router for my connection. I used to work on computers for a living and know for a fact my Internets are configured correctly.

That is very strange indeed. I am on mine at the moment and i have had a scroll through my options and cannot see anything that would be effecting it either!!

 

Ok in the pause menu there is the info section does anything appear in there description wise? Also when you are in a job or a mission you can go into the job "app" and see the information in regards to the current job that you are in - does that appear?

 

Im assuming you have done a full reinstall of the game and patches? I've not seen or heard of this before but if anything it sounds like a corrupt file on your end? You have two xbox's, do you have two disc's? If so try installing from the disc that has been working fine! ?

 

Other than the above im a bit stumped. If they dont work the. I guess i will have to try to think of some more :-/

Does the description say "no translation"? I've been having this problem since 1.10 patch with every player invite

I've been getting the "No Translation" descriptions ever since the 1.09 update. However, I did get them for about a week before 1.10 but has been back to nothing since the update. Only applies to created content though. I get mission descriptions. I've tried deleting and reinstalling the updates but didn't fix it. In the end I just chalked it up to another R* bug that needs to be fixed.

Reinstalled everything using a different copy of the game. Still nothing works. Once more went into the Router, changed some settings around, still getting the issue. It does not matter what screen I am at when I am invited to a mission, who invites me, wether its R* Created, R* Verified, Custom, whatever. No matter what, I am not given any details on any jobs/missions/races/death matches. When I'm at the voting screen after completing a job I literally have no idea on what I'm voting for unless I've done the mission before and physically remember it. I am uploading a video to Youtube now to help clarify.

 

R* support is still ignoring my second help ticket (confirmed the first one was deleted), I turned it in 2/5/14. It's obvious at this point that R* does not care to help.

 

I have not been able to view any job description on this console since November.

Edit: Looks like all my noisemaking today has paid off, as someone with R* is now attempting to assist me. I will try to keep this thread updated, as I know I am not the only one to run into this issue. Here a link to the thread @ R* for those who choose to follow.

Glad they are finally attempting to help you on this one. Just watched the video and that is pretty crazy. I can imagaine its been doing your head in not being able to see what your getting yourself into. I have not seen it nor come across the issue before.
