Edit: @HeavyDukeChanged it lol.

Wait!  Now I'm taking my like back.

But no seriously... I live in Philadelphia.  Look it up as far as uncomfortable humidity goes.  We have an old ass house so we only have a window unit air conditioner in our bedroom.  Walking into that room is AMAZING.

Weird confusing day. Apparently someone came back to their senses after a long long time. Wasn't like that when I needed that said person the most.

Like finding a fire extinguisher after your car burns down. Still something I suppose.

A bit weird.

Yesterday, I received a friend request on social media. At first I thought it was one of my older relatives who tend to forget their passwords and make multiple accounts. Instead, it was someone from an old forum that I hadn't talked to in, at least, ten years. (I use the words 'talked to' loosely.)

The last time that I logged into the site on my primary account was back in 2008. I made a secondary account that's been inactive since 2013. By that time, I think most of the regulars had moved on. It's been at least six years since I bothered with the place.

On social media, my current profile was created nine years ago. At one point, the person was on my friend list but not on this account.

Why keep a hold of a person's name that you barely know? Outside of the forum there was little to no interaction. That's why I unfriended and moved on. Looking back, I realised that the forum wasn't too healthy. There was a close knit vibe, and I seemed to have a positive reputation contributing content, but I never made any real online friends throught the site. A lot of people were stuck, and for a while, I'd been too. So, I moved onto more meaningful real life things.

Which has got me thinking 'why now?' Maybe the person is lonley or feeling nostalgic? Why reach out after all this time? There wasn't a message, no awkward hello, explanation or a 'how are you?' You'd think that'd be a priority?

I'm all for making new friends. Although I've learned to avoid 'lukewarm' people online and offline. Guess that it just took me by surprise.

I've had people do the same. Send me a friend request, I accepted and then we haven't said a word to each other. From what I can tell, it's mostly people just padding out their friends count which is absolutely pathetic to me. That people care so much about how many "friends" they have. I have like 80 people added, and I don't talk to majority of them. I could literally probably remove about 50 people, maybe even more and they wouldn't notice.

Yeah. Friend collecting was a concern. I don't understand why people do it either. Kinda stupid.

Although... It got better. I sent a friendly, formal message explaining that I remembered their username. (Which was also displayed on their social media profile.) I said that it'd been a long time since I'd visited the site. I ended by saying that it'd be good to connect (with you) having a shared interest. I got a DM back saying:  'So I did find the real *insert real name here!* What was your screen name back then?' And.... Then I felt kinda AWKWARD. :sarcasm: After a while I just DMed back the username. I also got an invite to a group page with other members from the old forum. Also... He already knew my username because it was posted on the group page (along with my real name) the day before.

So now, everything seems okay but I've drawn a safe boundary. It's better to ease into the situation.

Today, I got my ticket and autographs prebooked for a convention in October. Jean Claude Van Damme will be there, which is effing cool, but I'm not too keen on the steep autograph price. Otherwise,  I'm really looking forward to seeing Christopher Lloyd aka Doc from Back To The Future, Rory McCann aka The Hound from Game Of Thrones, and Tommy Flannagan aka Chibs from Sons Of Anarchy.

Today was actually alright. Not amazing or anything, but any day where I don't feel like complete trash is a success to me. Just really trying to find things to boost my spirits, no matter how little. It really makes all the difference.

My day is currently literally sh*t. Had less than an hour of sleep (fell asleep after 6am) and was woken up by my dog pacing around. Got myself ready to take her for a quick one and she crouched down and did a sh*t in my flat💩

Only good thing so far is that after another hours sleep I received a cheque through the post for £26 for an overpayment of some tax.

Not to gloat but...this is my sleep from last night.  It's like this every night.  I know how to sleep.

Anyway I normally take today off as a religious holiday but I couldn't this year.  Even though I can claim religious holiday and take the day off - there is just so much crazy sh*t going on that I couldn't.  Heck, I can't even vacation yet.  I'll stop my whining.

Anyway.  I'm an atheist and the religious holiday is Jerry Garcia's birthday.  Listen to this song on my commute home was pretty difficult.

Today was great. Finally feel like I'm enjoying video games again as well. Just playing whatever the f*ck I want. There was a point a month ago where gaming felt like a chore because I was trying to 100% and platinum every game, which just isn't fun. Such a good feeling when you can switch between a ton of games and just play them and not worry about pointless side objectives.

It's almost been like a test of endurance.

I'm staying off social media as much as possible lately. Guess that the 'old friend' situation is stirring up anxiety in me. Maybe it's old anxiety or new anxiety or a mixture of both. Feels like I've moved on in life and they haven't. That's based on my observations because there hasn't been any real talk (aside from an over friendly/OTT reaction on the old fan forum group page.) Makes me question why they reached out in the first place when they don't make a real effort. I posted a few things on my profile to engage conversation, but aside from a few likes, nothing's happened. I'm not willing to do the chasing because the initial exchange told me that nothing has changed. Right now, it's like the proverbial person knocking on the window each day but they're unwilling to come inside. After a while, it gets annoying AF and I don't want to be in the proverbial room anymore.

On the plus side, I'm filling up my calendar with cool sh** over the next year. I got a ticket booked for a special movie screening/Q&A next March. It's like a bucket list and a self imposed competition to make each year better than the last. I want to make good memories and don't want to deal with nonsense.

I know what you’re all thinking. Man! Where has ThatKyloRenGuy been? It isn’t normally like him to be inactive for about a week. Well, it’s because I’m currently on my last day of vacation. I go back home tomorrow afternoon and I really can’t wait. Anyways, I had a GREAT day today to finish it all off! I had pizza for dinner and Chinese food for lunch, plus I went to the zoo in Illinois, for the first time since I was really little. I also have spent my past few days with my family in small, podunk towns of Illinois and Indiana. I went to the fair yesterday, chilled out for a few days, went to a wedding in Atlanta, and even saw this 2019 version of The Lion King (much better than the original 1994 imo, but I still respect differing opinions, no matter how unpopular mine is, lol :P) To make a long story short, I’ve had a great WEEK as a matter of fact and I owe it all to my family members! :)

Recently, I received ninety in my economics test, so pretty chuffed with that.
I then treated myself to a nice stroll along the waterfront, close to where I live.

Now...to add to this, all I need is a glass of Champagne.

Took a sip of my Coffee this morning and sneezed at the same time, got Coffee all over my couch and table.

At the same time, I'm lucky as f*ck because usually I'd be sat at my desk and it could have gone on my electronic sh*t like my PS4/PC.

Pro-tip: Don't drink Coffee when your nose feels itchy.

Had a legit meltdown at work today.

It freaked people out to say the least.

Naturally the people there close to me wanted to help...and they had best intentions but I was gone.

Time to walk away and force myself to go outside for a walk to lunch.  I do lunch with the same dude every day and he was the one saying I have to get out for lunch to settle down a bit.  We were doing our best to speak slow and easy and no talk of work.  We didnt even know what we wanted when we got out so we decided on Chinese (which we do on a lot of Wednesdays)...walk to the Chinese cart and they weren't there.  Like I needed that today.

I went nearly 40 years of never eating fast food but in the past few years I've had ChickFilA like 3 times...so he said "ChickFilA"? And I said yes.

There was some pain in the ass construction so he suggested we just stay on the street we were on and walk the extra block.

-*Mark this point-

We thought it at the same time.  We are like "you know we are on the 5 guys block.  5 guys"?

So I got a big burger and a sh*t ton of fries.  Things were looking up.  I ate it at my desk while working(like always).

On my way home my trolly was stuck 8 blocks from my house.  If you dont know...8 blocks in the city is no joke of a distance.  I. waited maybe 10 minutes and then decided to pop off and walk home.  Naturally 4 trolleys past me on my walk and imwas no where near a corner to hop back on.  Ahwell.

*while typing this my boss called and I had to log into work fo an emergency.  f*ck!

That's my day.

It was free ice cream day at work.  And my work knows how to do it.  No institutional crap.  No unnecessary rules or schedules.

A Mister Softy truck rolls into the courtyard and all you have to do is show your ID.  No restrictions...get whatever you want.  And its not like you are limited to one.  Wanna go back for seconds?...go ahead.

Was drawing out some money from a machine and just as I picked 'yes' for a receipt a wasp decided to buzz around me, almost making me move away from the cash machine. Scared it off by waving my coat at it in desperation.

Been really motivated today for some reason. Some days I just have these random bursts of energy that I can't explain. I literally do nothing different, and have the same schedule and sleeping routine every week. Yet certain random days I feel more energetic and happy. It's like some sort of personality thing.

I wish I could nail down exactly what brings these happy days on, so I could replicate it.

Ever since the small fire at my work, things have slowed down as a restoration company has had various equipment lying around the floors and vehicles occupying parking, but things are getting back up to speed now.

It's kind of a tradition that the last Friday of every month, we hold a barbeque with all the staff + shop crew. As we missed last month's, it happened today instead, which is nice because I was hungry. :turn:

Pretty zen.

I'm glad that I set a healthy boundary with the 'old friend.' There still hasn't been any effort to reach out at their end. I've kinda figured out why they contacted me in the first place though. It can't be a coincidence that they reached out two weeks before having an operation. Now, they're kinda boasting online about how 'awesome' the skinny version of themselves will be.

I don't want to come across as jealous or insincere which isn't the case. I see a lot of insecurity within the guy which is a shame. Guess that I'm just a stickler for etiquette, you know? Communication is a two way process. Feels like they just contacted me to show off. But, I'm gonna be the bigger person and keep living my best life. The ball was in their court when they reached out and they immediately dropped it. If they want to talk, then it's cool. If they don't want to make any effort, then I'll be over here doing my own thing. I don't need anyone's attention or approval to be happy. I definitely don't need the stress or the drama either.

Today, I've been making plans for October. It's been a while since I had a good night out.

Really, really long. One of those days where it feels like you're living out an entire year. Thankfully I'm now at home and I'm chilling and time is going much faster now.

A rather interesting day I should say. Went to my local corner clothing store with a friend after eating some kick ass hamburgers at In-n-out, picked up some clean White T-shirts, Levis, socks, and a pair of shades. A grate place since everything here is on sale and the deals are always on top. Always have picked my work clothes here for years until they closed in 1999 for various reasons and re-opened in 2008. So this dude walks in and I could tell he'd be living on the streets and started looking around and the Korean owner at the counter kept keeping him in check. He told him after a while if he didn't have any money to leave the store or he'd call the police.

The homeless dude then told him "You wanna see my ass?!" I freaking lol'd in the back so damn hard while my bud was too busy trying to find the right size for his work pants  Then out of nowhere he quickly hauled ass and took three shirts from the hangers and a box of lighters since he spilled the rest on the floor. The korean guy then yelled something angrily in his  language and again angrily said If not damn gangstas no more it's these homeless idiots!!! "proceeds to yell again in Korean". Fortunately three people working there went after him and caught him and police arrived.

For whatever reason the gang unit also showed up. Made sense though since the gang issue was part of the reason the store closed. Guess they wanted to make sure. It really wasn't the place to check out during the 90's as I could recall in my early teen years when my path in life was going nowhere there would be about a dozen shootouts here and there. It was that much of a problem to the point where I remembered the original store owner always kept a shotgun and a couple of pistols under the register. I really do wish they would open another location. It's a really old store that my father used to buy his work clothes here when he was a young mechanic in the late 70's. So it's been in the community for many years.

Gangs aren't a issue anymore not even close to what it was but now the homeless are apparently barging in and stealing sh*t, as mentioned by another hippy like dude who works there that sounds like he just smoked an entire bag of reefer this morning, lmao. We both paid our things and he told us in a hesitant way Thank you! please please come again. We just told him to keep head his head up and thanked him for years of good service since re-opening back in 2008. He told us we didn't have to worry since he always has police on high speed dial. And recently security has been seen patrolling around here since a few shops and a market store surround the area. God bless this dude for keeping this traditional store opened. Plenty of rare and hard to find styles here.

I stopped at a gas station after work, and a guy parked across from me drives a similar car as mine; his being a genuine right-hand drive Japanese import.

The easily noticeable engine idle must've caught his attention as I pulled up, he kinda stared at it with a grin on his face... "Nice ride, buddy!"

Feels good man.

I really love those little interactions with people. It can turn a sh*tty day in to a good one.
