TL:DR version : I dont care, if you dont read it all... if you havent got the attention span to read more than1 paragraph maybe a written form of communication isnt for you... you should stick to alphabet spaghetti

Yea, more than a few time in this thread it seems peeps didn't bother to read/digest what's been said. Oh well...

Anyway Mo, thanks for that awesome response. In the past, in my Battlefield days, I've purchased Premium, bought all the vehicles/guns because I didn't want to spend a sh*t ton of time grinding for it. I can afford it, so WTF, why not? Did I do it cause I suck at the game? Naw... Ima BF pro from way back. I just went that way cause I could... and I wanted to.

I am kinda new to GTAO (Xmas nub) and am still not that bored of grinding/farming. Sure, it was getting a bit rough prior to 1.10, but now that I have access to a whole bunch of new jobs in the menu, I'll be making a new farming playlist and it's going to be 'fresh' still. I haven't felt the need to even consider a Shark Card and my bank balance hasn't dipped below $1 mil since I can remember (and yes, I bought the Roose, new clothes etc yesterday)

Shark Cards are an OPTION, nobody is forcing people to buy them. And again, it's just part of the business model. An option for those that don't want to farm the dosh.

The op is right. All they care about is the gold.

Again, that's not what I said. I didn't say that's all they care about. Just was musing about how I thought the biz model was shaping up as I am used to buying 'map paks' and other stuff in the games I play.

as a business model i dont think it deserves the greif that people give it...

like you rightly say its an option, theres noone forcing you to buy them, unlike other games where you ahve to pay for DLC content, only to find its a bunch of reskinned maps from a previous games (COD...) that was already bought and paid for on previous releases... thats something to complain about...

sharkcards are there for either those who dont have time, have too much money, or have parents that want to keep their kids quiet whilst playing a game they arent even old enough to buy... and for those people i welcome shark cards... the presence doesnt affect how i play the game, hell i spent an hour and a half last night just riding my akuma round blaine county... whether there was money in this game or not id still manage to occupy many an hour just messing about (i think i clocked over 250 hours on SA without any online and barely ever spent money) ... but like last night where i wanted to buy all the new suits, im happy to earn back the money through some quick missions and jobs (spent 200k, an hour later id earned back 150k of what id spent)

Since cashgate ive steadily increased my balance from the 550k i was left with to around 1.7 million, but ive spent about a million along the way on car mods, ammo, entrance fees and insurance, yet still manage to stay about my 1.5 million "buffer" that i like to keep in the bank... f*ck i can win 50k in bets on races in an hour, on top of winnings... cashcards are for the weak and rockstar giving them an option to get rich quick is a good idea... for those that see through the bullsh*t it makes no difference to us, for the idiots with mommys credit card... have fun wasting your minigun ammo and sticky bombs in freeroam...

ha ha ha ha... oh man. I can't tell you how many games/DLCs/expansion paks I have bought my kids to keep 'em off my back only to see 'em move onto something else a week or two later.

Yea, that's me as well. Went from the $550k to my current buffer balance over $1mil and have spent maybe $3 mil on things since the crash, (cause hey, never know when them mansions will show up yea?). When we're grinding for a few hrs it's not unusual to make a mil. And I am playing the missions/racing/survival with my friends to have some fun. To hone our execution of said activity. The cash just comes along with it.

Probably spend 1.2 Mil just on the Roose and VDM stuff yesterday, (car + upgrades + clothes). And the events? The one's we do with the community, (Olympics, Old Mans Crack, mock ads, filming)? Cost a small fortune as I am buying vehicles for the event, testing and demo of things ahead of time... I remember the 'opening ceremonies' for the GTA Olympics, we blew up a few Adders over various takes. Cost me like $36k alone... lol.

I remember on BF3 when peeps would get mad that Dice/EA had the ability for peeps to buy weapons/vehicles for cash. They weren't mad about Dice/EA making more money, they were pissed that peeps didn't have to grind/work for it. Thus the GTA community view on buying one's way in seems interesting to me. Because it's almost a polar opposite.

Anyway, speaking of cash... I better get back to work or I won't be making that IRL stuff, (which is much better. I've tried getting a pint at the local bar by offering the bartender some GTA bucks... didn't work out)

Ok, so it seems that they've figured out how to give away the DLC stuff, without charging, BUT still make dough via cash cards no?

1. Release DLC stuff for free (aka new car in Massacre pak)

2. Make cars/clothes/guns expensive as fck ($750k for car alone)

3. Make it a limited time.... so peeps can't make enough to buy said goodies within the time frame...

4. Peeps have to buy shark cards = Profit

Well played R*... well played...

1.) Yes. That gets people's attention.

2.) I was taken back by some of the pricing as well.

3.) This stuff will be available through the end of February, from what I understand. If you can't drum up $800K (to buy roughly ALL of the content) in two weeks, you're doing something wrong.

4.) No one HAS to buy a Shark card. Ever. Shark cards were designed solely for people that are unwilling to put in the time or the effort to earn the money to buy the higher end items. But you have three options.

1.) Put in the work and buy the sh*t you want.

2.) Put some green in R*'s hand and they'll unlock the sh*t you want.

3.) Don't get the sh*t.

now theres a business model that would increase "engagement" if we could reverse trade our GTA$ back to R* for real money... same exchange rate we buy cash cards for (20$ for 1.2million or 1.2million gta$ for $20 (£13.49))...

anyone else notice that Muricans pay less for cashcards than us english folk.. $20 = £11.97 yet we pay £13.49 for the equivalent cashcow....... the fecks my other £1.50 going on (which i could get a pint for at the local) ... yet anotehr reason i wont buy them...

think its considerably more as the Roose alone is 750K,,, plus mods your looking at topping around a Million....

i didnt buy the roose last night and spent about 200k on all thye clothes and tommy gun for two characters (man those suspenders are expensive)...

My only big issue with this business plan of shark cards and Rockstar's obvious efforts to push them is that it's not necessarily better for us long term if Rockstar make more money. The more successful this is the more likely the natural conclusion will be that we end up buying GTA 7 in three year's time for £100 and then have to purchase all weapons, ammo, cars etc with RL money. Greed is a powerful thing.

Also, there are plenty of people who play games to get away from real life, many may not have much money, if Shark Cards catch on in a big way it will only make them less likely to play as they end up feeling like second class citizens in a fantasy game as well.

Oh, and Rockstar - you'll make far more money offering 20 car garage mansions for 10 million+ than limited time offer vehicles.

I saw intelligent discussion in this thread and had to double-check to see if I wasn't redirected to some bizarro version of GTAF.

Shhhh... you'll break the time-space continuum!! Just let it grow... we might be on to something.

I don't know if i'd pay $10m for a 20 car garage mansion. But i would pay $2-3m for one. Maybe even $5m. That's the main thing i've been saving my money for. I still have $8.5m after buying the roosevelt and other VD things. And yes i bought adder savings bonds and they matured nicely.

It's totally a conspiracy. If you can't make an average of about 60k per day over the course of the next 2 weeks, then you won't be able to buy everything that was released. That is starting with nothing in your wallet. If you didn't have anything saved up from the time that the money hacks were fixed, then tough luck. If you're to impatient and compulsive that you need to buy every single item that was released, then you have bigger problems than spending $20 on a cash card.

Look guys, here's another one crying. Let's stand around him and laugh.

Typical boring, first reply always has to be a snarky, unoriginal, wet pom pom. There's words for people like this.

To the OP, I feel the same way. It's THE business model Rockstar took five years to develop and implement. The whole "gifted/glitched cash" thing must've really tossed a proverbial wrench into the works.

As for this round of DLC, I bought the brown pin-striped suit, but that's all. No interest in the car. I can't justify the in-game money or giving up the slot in my garage. It IS sweet looking, though. Just be careful if you blow one up... it cost me $9900 in insurance when I did. <sigh>

Cheers!
