Ok, so it seems that they've figured out how to give away the DLC stuff, without charging, BUT still make dough via cash cards no?

1. Release DLC stuff for free (aka new car in Massacre pak)

2. Make cars/clothes/guns expensive as fck ($750k for car alone)

3. Make it a limited time.... so peeps can't make enough to buy said goodies within the time frame...

4. Peeps have to buy shark cards = Profit

Well played R*... well played...

Look guys, here's another one crying. Let's stand around him and laugh.

Musing sir... I was musing. I still have a butt load of dough, so I could care less. And hey, I charge over $100/hr IRL for my consulting services... if I wanted I could buy a butt load of play money as well.

Carry on... good day to you sir.

Well the better start selling more properties then.

I ain't got room for expensive cars which i may or may not drive.

They increase payouts and the ability to replay high paying missions.

Also makes the Roosevelt very rare if dupe glitches are fixed. But you know... Cash cards.

then again its in line with other sports classics cars that all cost a pretty penny to buy...

one way or another it achieves the desired effect, either peeps buy cashcards or peeps reply rooftop rumble a bunch of times to earn the cash for it (750k is easily achievable in a weekend)

one way or another its keeping people playing...

Well played indeed. I still prefer this over strictly premium content. Also a hefty price tag in combination with limited time will make it a collectible. Although I think it would be even better if when bought, the car should be available for free, then you could replace it with an option to get it back. This would also serve as protection against some 'rare' garage/insurance glitches (slot 1 etc. etc.).

Oh look, another useful comment that will lead to an adult discussion

He he... it would be kinda cool if we could sell cars to other players. Highest bidder. Would make some of the limited time/rare vehicles a little more valuable. Let the market decide....

If I didn't play the game and actually make money everyday and needed cash I would buy cards too!

I also have zero problems buying them and supporting R* they have made an awesome game and deserve all the money they can make.

People don't seem to realize the more money R* makes the more they are going to be able to develop games for our enjoyment!

Indeed. In fact, it's mandated by law (in the US) that corporations do everything in their power to increase profits. Corporations can, and have been in the past, sued by shareholders for not doing so. As a business owner, I have no probs at all with any company making $$$. The market shall decide if the cost is bearable.

And hey, I went full bore with BF4 (game + premium)... not adverse at all to buying DLCs etc.

Said it in a previous thread, I work. Long hours at that, not nearly enough free time to be able to play this game as much as I'd like to...so the quick fix to get the content I genuinely want is the cash cards. $20 is a drop in the bucket for someone who's got a decent enough job...and I have a thing for classic/vintage cars (my garage is all muscle and sports classic, save for my Feltzer, Elegy and Bati), so that Roosevelt will have a welcome home with me. I only have 500K in the bank right now though, and I don't want to grind for the remain money then end up broke when I buy it...so...cash card it is. I get what I want and support R* in the process, so we both benefit.

Yea man, that's like an hr in the local pub... but many more in-game.

About five and a half hours of grinding Coveted gets you a Roosevelt, no pee breaks allowed, and don't let your concentration down too much that you damage a crate.

If you're theGypsy, and bill out at $100/hour, and the government gets, say, 30% of that, so $70/hr after-tax...

Spending $20 = 1.25MGTA, so $12 = 0.75MGTA,

So a little over 10 minutes IRL work gets you a Roosevelt.

5.5 hours grinding or 10 minutes IRL pay?

Or, if you want to use the argument that you aren't being paid 24/7, you could just skip buying 8 coffees.

Maybe a hacker will gift us all a billion dollars this weekend? I doubt it, and f*ck those assholes anyway.

I'm still a little peeved that I bought shark cards on December 8, two weeks before the hackmoneyfest, and I'm no better off than the peasant lot who didn't buy any, thanks to the hackers. So unless R* shows ME some special love beyond the peasant hordes, I will avoid sending them any more IRL $.

I bought Adder-Bonds, because f*ck that, so I'm in good shape for GTA$ now, but pisser for those who didn't.

Awe my f*ck. Here's someone thinking! Let's stand around him and throw rocks till he dies and our mental placidity is safe once more!

Where R* screw up is in giving us a maximum car quantity. I have exactly one free space in my garage. I'm totally not going to fill it on a weekend impulse. I definitely won't sell them; not after I've dropped 10+ mission-hours into buying and modding each one.

If their aim with DLC is to make money the way you say, limiting time of availability will limit shark card sales. So that makes no sense.

Shark cards will make money because some players are lazy and have a disposable income - they will make a sh*tload of money from that alone.

DLC will be more profitable for R* from sales alone - and hijacking DLC to sell shark cards (which WILL sell anyway!) will damage games reputation and therefore future sales.

Why does everyone forget that game sales is the majority revenue for R*? It's as if people think that games were not profitable until microtranactions - it's called "micro" for a reason!

You raise a good point OP. I was actually fortunate that I had the cash already from mission grinding, but I can see how this would be a problem for a newbie who wanted the car as well. At least you can get the car for free in SP, I guess.

If you are correct, it's a good ploy.

Tempt you with something that you want, and accept your money for it. ... Actually it seems like a pretty standard model of business.

Indeed it might be true, but nothing more than rumour here on the boards. For a fact, we do know that people are buying it today (cause it's the 14th somewhere) for $75k

So, those that are in a time zone where it is the 14th (AU for example) are paying $75k, but magically the rest of us get it free? That would suck for those folks. Thus my problem with the theory.

As always, we'll know when we know. Again, I was just musing about something. That's kinda the point of the place no? Or do we just come here to call each other "kid" "retard" etc? (not referring to you, but earlier poster)

Yea... having owned a biz of one sort or another the last 25yrs, I just tend to think of the business models, pricing strategy, marketing etc... Kinda what got me thinking of it. But see above, no idea... we'll see how it all plays out

Yea, it's a bit of a pickle. I have my garage where I want it other than a space I keep open for various vehicles we need for the various events/recording we do. I do wonder if we can sell the new car if we decide we don't want it? Most of the vehicles and I have a history as u intimated. Not sure what I'd give up
