Peachrocks Posted February 13, 2014 Share Posted February 13, 2014 It's one of many major flaws in the plot. The whole thing is held together by very fragile pieces of string. You poke at it a little and the whole thing falls to pieces very easily. After Trevor discovered Michael's new life there was literally no reason for him not to tell him the truth about Brad. If you are worried about Trevor going insane and killing Michael in a fit of rage, that should have happened at least five times during the plot as it was but couldn't because then there wouldn't be a plot. It's even made worse later because Trevor later tells Franklin that Brad was sort of a dick and that's partly why he made peace with Michael but it was about the principal. If Brad was a bit of a dick Trevor why spend 10 years thinking about him and writing to him and what not... Officer Ronson Posted February 14, 2014 Share Posted February 14, 2014 They needed to fill the coffin with somebody so it wouldn't raise any suspicioun. Brad died instead of Michael and almost nobody knew how he looked like, so they decided to put Brad underground in the case if it would ever be unburyed by random person, Trevor though Michael died as there was no funeral for Brad, so Trevor at some point in the past decided to send a letter to the federal prision sistem directed to Brad. Dave got aware of such thing so he started to text Trevor himself to be able to trace him down and finally execute him or apprehend him, Dave made Trevor think that Brad became a good person while on prision. While he learned that Brad died, Trevor was pissed. But then he admited Brad was just a diversity for a while after Michael went soft during his robbing bank days, he would get disposed off him later. P.S I love Palestine =) Because they faked Michael's death and lied to Trevor about Brad being in prison. lol, and what i don't understand is why they deceived people into believing that Brad was in prison. A single visit by Trevor to the prison to see Brad would reveal that he is not really in prison. a single visit to prison? by trevor? Trevor said that he would kill Brad, but in a way that neither the FIB nor the cops would be involved. That's why he thought of Michael as a traitor. Yes, it still doesn't make sense. Why did Luke Skywalker just get thrown into a huge battle at the Death Star? Because its f*cking awesome that's why. Why did GTAV have Brad in the coffin and Mike watching his own funeral? Because it drove the story and you're supposed to let that happen. If it was completely based on reality the game would suck and be over after the first couple missions when our protags don't survive the life of crime. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that Internet cynics wouldn't be able to just enjoy something for once. Whatever. It's not confirmed, but I think most likely that whole lie was a sting to try and catch Trevor who was still on the run. Dave (or his graduate trainees) posing as Brad actually write in an email "why don't you come and visit?". Obviously they must be intending to have him arrested if he takes the bait, because otherwise as you point out, the lie would be exposed. When Dave explains to Michael they've been writing the emails, he also points out they had no address, just a PO Box number, so presumably at that stage they are still unaware of Trevor's exact location. By the time Trevor comes to Los Santos and they do locate him (Dave has him picked up in "Three's Company"), the FIB's priorities changed slightly - they needed a crew to break Mr K out of the IAA building and decided under Michael's supervision Trevor could be useful. This also explains the OP's line about why put Brad and Michael's grave. If the prison story was a sting, presumably they'd have put a fake report out in the papers (how else would Trevor know about where to send his first letter?) so if they wanted to claim Brad was in prison, they needed to do something with the body. There is a reason; as long as Trevor doesn't know about the deal with Norton, he can think that Michael escaped the ambush somehow but didn't contact him, so Michael is kind of a dick. Once Trevor knows that there must have been a deal (since Brad is in the grave but his letters to Brad are getting replies), he will know Michael is a traitor.
