Maggot899
I think the main problem is that a lot of us have grown up with the games. I'm 21 now and I know that some of the added humor to previous installments had to do with my immature mind at the time. There were loads of hilarious moments in both IV and V(at least for me anyways) and I appreciate the more dark and serious side of it all just because I'm a pretty morbid person to begin with. I will always love the old games but everyone grows up eventually. And yeah I know "BUT THIS IS GTA IT NEEDS TO BE LIKE THE OLD DAYS AND KEEP THE OLD CHEESY HUMOR!" The writers are getting older as well and they probably got sick of the old style as well. We grew up folks... ActionBronson

GamerShotgun
Maybe you're all just growing up and becoming incredibly picky? Do we not remember the 69 Overkill in San Andreas? SmoothGetaway
Don't get me wrong...the guys crank calling Danny McBride in 'Beyond insemination' was hilarious. And that wasn't all. But, like Singular Soul said its very political and not even subtle this time. Just boom, in your face now laugh!! Also, yes I very much get British humor and I'll laugh at how dumb Americans are too but geez... GTAV has plenty of laugh out loud moments, but most were in the story in my opinion. Captain Arthur
How can you doubt the games humour? Don't you know they put yoga in the game? That's the most humorous thing in a GTA ever, it destroys all previous GTA's humour combined single handedly. Anyway if for whatever reason yoga doesn't amuse you can always use your imagination and pretend everything is funny, just like the woggleman and a number of the other idiots on here told me to do when I asked if there was actually anything fun to do, do it yourself, it's not R*'s fault, it's your fault. M TriZzZzLe
I've grown up with the GTA games as I'm sure most of you have and I guess some people do just grow up into lame cynics. V is hilarious. Why don't you just relax, take a hit from your bong (in the game, of course...) and watch some TV. It's the classic humor we've seen before, but they didn't just reuse the same things. They do need to keep it fresh after all or there would be those out there pointing out reused lines, etc. I think it definitely appeals to the old school gta fans in more ways than what is blatantly obvious. There's a lot more than just failed celebrity jokes. I don't think a lot people get the british humour in this. You got to think about it, there not all American writers. I loved it Yeah I don't think it's British humor
blakeney
Although the comedy isn't as fast or frequent as pre IV... I have found the bits that are funny, are like deeply funny and go WELL beyond the comedy found in SA for example. Got it. what rockstar's writers did was point out the problems. just simply pointing out the problems isn't funny. for example while you are fighting a ped, he might say: "i've got better things to do than listen to a socialist" ok we get it rockstar. most people are intolerant of socialists. but just simply pointing that problem out isn't funny, rockstar. masterplan
Hey the cops in gtaiv are fun as hell too, they all have funny lines 'oh a donut? Make it large', ' im gonna shot your tits off', 'so let me repeat the message: blabalblarublabla bla bla bla' the last one really cracked me up when i first heard it haha. Brucie, the mens room, peds lines, commercials were also kind of fun, the internet pages, the games world is way funnier than i expected, dont let the gritty and dark storyline confuse you The Men's Room was outstanding "Who wants to knife fight me in the audience!!??" iiGh0STt
who did not laugh when you randomly spawn on trevor following another individual on a scooter and yelling "SCOOOOOTER BUDDIES!" "most people are intolerant of socialists." I fail to see how that is a problem. Anyways, I'm pretty sure the humor in this recent installment of GTA was supposed to be largely ironic and satirical as opposed to the more clever, low-key mockery of previous GTA games. That and, if you ask me, it is an accurate depiction of reality, albeit ridiculously pronounced whereas in real life our subtle hypocrisies and shallowness is hidden behind a mask of "modernity" and all that bullsh*t. I mean, stop in the middle of the street in Los Santos in say, Rockford Hills, and look around. Everyone is on their phone ignoring the world around them, complaining about benign first world problems and nervously wandering around the neighborhood hobo in the middle of the sidewalk while prying out the keys to their Dilettante from their 900 dollar designer handbags. Lock n' Stock
Not nearly as funny as past GTAs that's for sure. A lot of it did feel forced, especially the TV shows. Those have really slipped. But there were a few commercials on the radio that cracked me up. Particularly the football commercial and the crazed UK ranting "who ate all the pies? who ate all the pies? YOU fat bastard! YOU fat bastard! You ate all the pies!" Loneliest Robot in Great Britain is brilliant for British Humour, that's possibly my highlight in terms of TV/Movie content in the game. "Fack off, he's dead you mong!" Maybe humor in previous GTA games is better, though some of V's TV shows and radio commercials can be funny, especially Piswasser.

E•MO•TION
I think it's hilarious. If the humor in V doesn't make you smile then you're too young for this game. If the humor in V doesn't make you smile but '69' does than God help humanity. Turn off Jersey Shore (or whatever teens are watching these days) and turn on the news. Once you can make the connection, the humor is quite comical. Alternatively, you could do a brief Google search on L.A. Culture as I did pre-release. As a veteran transit customer in the real world, I found this Weazel News quite comical (it's a nod to the heavy reliance on automobiles in L.A.): Edited February 16, 2014 by 2281

As a veteran transit customer in the real world, I found this Weazel News quite comical (it's a nod to the heavy reliance on automobiles in L.A.): Nope, sorry, I disagree entirely. For some reason, these gags feel lame and obvious. They just point out issues, rather than subtly mocking them. It's very "HAHA LOOK AT THIS THING WHICH SEEMS ABSURD HAHA WHY ARE YOU NOT LAUGHING HAHA" For example, San Andreas occasionally strayed into being downright immature in parts ("69" etc) but for the most part, the humour was refined and clever. GTA IV was by far the funniest game in the series, simply because it's gags were executed in a less brash, more satirical way. It's political commentary was particularly well-balanced. GTA V tries to emulate this, but ends up just regurgitating the same material over and over. I mean, GTA V seems to just go "LIBERALS, LIBERALS, LIBERALS, LIBERALS GAAAAA, LIBERALS!" Cutter De Blanc
Some of the humor certainly seems a bit forced. Like they're more concerned with stupid people laughing at it than they actually are with telling the joke. It ends up eliciting a chuckle the first time but quickly grows stale. Case in point: Masturbating Monkeys winning Fame or Shame. They throw politics in everywhere too, and in a very unfunny way. I was listening to Chakra Attack, which in my opinion is the funniest thing on the radio, but I had to turn it off when he started talking about Cheryl being a good liberal. It feels really shoehorned in amidst all the chaos of the show. Edited February 16, 2014 by Cutter De Blanc SingularSoul
