mastershake616
I thought everything about Trevor and his ridiculous life, surroundings and antics was hilarious. Especially when he interacts with Floyd, Wade, and Lamar. Mr. Raspberry Jam? Random, raunchy, hilarious. "Do you want me to pull my dick out again?" Michael has some very funny banter with his son, too. Michael being baffled at how Jim threatens to molest his 'online friends', Jimmy shedding light on what 'trolling' is, Jimmy mythologizing the things Fabian is doing to Amanda...etc. I do agree however regarding the cynical nature of the humor. I enjoyed that aspect of it, but to each his own. We all find different things funny. Keep in mind that it may have been easier to satirize the worlds of Vice City and San Andreas because they took place in the past. nkjellman, theiceman13, ActionBronson and 1 other

saintsrow
The humor was already getting stretched in GTA IV, going too far to tray to make a joke that was not worth the trip. I agree with the OP, that in GTAV it just degenrated to cliched observations and even more stretched attempts at humor. There were a few good ones, true, but overall, not so hot. I turned the radio volume all the way down in GTAV/GTA0 months ago and have never turned it on again. SingularSoul and Blingy
Niobium
"Make me run and I'll get all sweaty" - VC Cops Quotes like that is what GTA needs, while this games humor isn't as dull as IV's was, it still was pretty bad. Everything in this game is so serious (stop thinking of the Joker fatty), and its sad because the story isn't that serious especially with characters like Trevor but everything outside the story is just bleh. Nobody says anything funny outside of missions, peds are serious, cops are serious, ads are serious, etc.. I mean, we need more "I smoke weed because it gives me knowledge" type lines from NPC's, because they were the sh*t. I just remembered the GTA SA Cops quotes: officer 1 - hey i can see my house from up here officer 2 - will you shut the hell up officer 1 - why do i have to do all the shooting officer 2 - because i am a pacifist Why Rockstar? iv cop quotes: "f*ck! you're gonna run aren't you!" "AH'M CUMMIN' AFTER YOU" "AH'M NOT F*CKIN' KIDDIN' ASSHOLE!" fat cop while chasing niko/johnny/luis: "if i let another one get away they'll never stop with these fat jokes" Edited February 13, 2014 by nobum62 Algonquin Assassin
ClaudeSpeed1911
Not nearly as funny as past GTAs that's for sure. A lot of it did feel forced, especially the TV shows. Those have really slipped. But there were a few commercials on the radio that cracked me up. Particularly the football commercial and the crazed UK ranting "who ate all the pies? who ate all the pies? YOU fat bastard! YOU fat bastard! You ate all the pies!" Loneliest Robot in Great Britain is brilliant for British Humour, that's possibly my highlight in terms of TV/Movie content in the game. That Movie had awesome an GTA3/Dan houser voice refrence. blowtorchrepair
I don't know, I laughed. I have a cynical sense of humor though. Think all of you might have taken it a bit too seriously, imo. Impotent Rage was probably the funniest thing on it though, because for whatever reason when I saw the "ANGRY LIBERAL INSIDE" cell, with him spazzing out and crying, I started to burst into nonstop laughter. I can see how some jokes got old, but the sh*t between Franklin and Lamar got me too. That golden conversation between Micheal and Trevor about how Trevor is a hipster. That mission when you run in on the member from Love Fist when playing as Trevor. There's some golden moments in the game. I agree. The electric cigarette commercial got me.. "feels like a base pipe, smokes like a base pipe.." bwahahaha When those things came out a few years ago my first thought was "somebody is going to modify the crack rock to burn in these things" The commercial about cloud computing is a riot, and I just heard it for the first time last weekend. "what's a cloud? Imagine every person on earth using the same computer. what could go wrong?"... Now, I do tend to listen to the same few stations if I listen to LS radio at all (rap station, FlyLo, and some other club stations) so there's no telling what else I'll discover in the coming years. That Rastafarian dude that's always spazzing-out on one station makes me laugh too, still. good stuff.... aqwaqwaq8
I saw Fame or Shaem the finals on Franklin's tv and I have to say I found it hilarious and laughed a lot with the jokes in gta v while I in gta 4 I even barely smiled a few times. Smash_It_Up_007
ALSO... Where are the funny cops? And the funny peds? It's just all gone in GTA V... I really miss the funny peds from GTA4, I would park next to them just to hear their wacky conversations. The ones in 5 just dont have the same appeal. The one-off comments they would come out with, especially the ones with the north of England accent, "Hurry up, I'm busting for a slash 'ere " and "Are you having a fookin' laff?" Even the hot dog and burger vendors were funny. "Come on, they're not grey when they're cooked" and 'Burgers, fresh yesterday!" gets me every time. Capitalist Communist
How can you doubt the games humour? Don't you know they put yoga in the game? That's the most humorous thing in a GTA ever, it destroys all previous GTA's humour combined single handedly. Anyway if for whatever reason yoga doesn't amuse you can always use your imagination and pretend everything is funny, just like the woggleman and a number of the other idiots on here told me to do when I asked if there was actually anything fun to do, do it yourself, it's not R*'s fault, it's your fault. Algonquin Assassin
The old gta games were masterpieces when it came to humor like rusty donuts Rusty donuts still exists in the HD universe you know. I think the problem is isn't so much the humour itself, but because most of us have grown up and the same old kind of gags don't make us laugh as much anymore. R* still possess a childish sense of humour like the 3D GTAs. Next time you visit GTA V's strip club pause and take note of what the stripper runway is in the shape of.. I was only a kid when I first got into GTA and a lot of these sexual innuendos had me in tears when I first saw them. Now when I see billboards such as "Strap On Time" it doesn't really make me laugh, but moreso aware R* still possess that same sense of humour they've always been known for. It's a no Win situation, Rockstar were ridiculed in the past because the peds and police, etc, seemed like jokers instead of actual people, so for GTAV, most of the stuff done close to real, hell, they even got gang members to do their own things for the gangs. Then again, on the overall subject, I found GTA IV to be less funny in terms of Talk Radio and TV, but better in terms of peds and internet writing. This time, Talk Shows I honestly prefer GTAV, Fernando, the odd few jokes on Chattersphere (Hell, the throwback with Reed Tucker was good enough) and of course Danny McBride being on the radio certainly made me laugh more than the stuff offered in GTA IV. Same goes for TV, cartoons are about the same level, but the documentary stuff following Jack Howitzer was just great, so many throwbacks to Vice City and the 80s in general. Internet this time felt like there was less websites than GTA IV (which is odd, surely they could have just copy and pasted the GTA IV ones and called them abandoned websites??)., I honestly kind of missed the online news articles from Liberty tree and Weazel giving different views on the story events. SingularSoul
The humor in GTA V, was, for me, brilliant in places, and absolutely dire in others. In games such as San Andreas (NOT A San Andreas Fanboy), the majority of my laughter came from the parody radio ads, the radio shows, the cop one-liners, the NPCs talking rubbish etc. In GTA V, there's still elements of all these things, but they're either severely watered-down or completely overblown. For example, the constant attack on Liberalism and the labeling of the city as "superficial" wore thin after a while. Some of the NPCs came out with hilarious material, only to be overshadowed by the depressing statements made by another person nearby, and as far as I'm aware, the cops have no sense of humor whatsoever. What happened to GTA IV's humour in this regard? A lot of the game seemed to rely on Trevor to introduce hilarity, which grew tiring and annoying. He's HILARIOUS in parts of the game, but there are times when, yet again, Rockstar have to take it to far. (Masturbating in the bathroom, killing Johnny, Killing Flloyd, Waking up in a dress etc) Seriously, the humor in this game is basically: "Liberals suck ifbbsibigbegvberib" "I WANNA BE AN ACTOR I WANNA BE AN ACTOR I WANNA BE AN ACTOR I WANNA BE AN ACTOR" "Attack conservatives fbibisbcvvsseisi" "RACISM RACISM RACISM RACISM" "TOILET HUMOR" "Oh look I pulled down a house" "Oh look, Trevor's in a dress/ Masturbating/ killing people for no reason huhuhuhuhuhuhu bow down to lord TREVOR." "Feminism sucks ew feminists" "Liberals suck" "I WANNA BE AN ACTOR" "RACISM AGAIN" "Conservatives suck too" "Don't forget liberals!" "ACTOR ACTOR ACTOR ACTOR" "TREVOOOOOOORRRRRR" It's mainly the TV, Radio, Internet and NPCs that are lacking humour, but the story has it's own issues with being funny.
