Xerukal
"I smoke weed because it gives me knowledge" "Them white boys had me on Crystal Meth!" This guy... this f*cking guy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJORQb_FjXA He had me choking on my laughs when I first discovered this full reel of his lines. He was pretty funny in-game, but I never got to focus on the lines of peds too much so they became kind of like ambient noise. fac316
I think its a sign of the times, from 2001-2004 America was at least on some sort of good path, now 2008-present we all know America is going to hell in a handbasket, Entertainment taking such an aggressively left tone, and everyone is now an antisocial. FirstLadyofGTA
YES YES PERFECTLY SAID! I agree whole hardheartedly. I was very disappointed with the humour in this game, the commercials, the TV shows, the dialogue. This was the first GTA game that I didn't really laugh that much which is a shame because that's one of the main reasons why I fell in love with the series. SmoothGetaway
Yeah, a lot of it is mean spirited and just not funny. Hey Lazlow, if you're reading this...please be funny instead of pathetic in the next game! fac316

killahmatic
The talk radio stations are definitely not as appealing to me as they used to be. I actually liked Lazlow in IV, it seemed like he was making a comeback. V's talk radio was a bit of a letdown in those terms
BLOOD
@LSPD I love everything about GTA 5,yeah it has some flaws but it brought new things to the Series (note,i didnt say Genre, why?because GTA is the Ruler of the Genre, even if other OWG does some things better).Unfortunately i havent played the game in weeks Edited February 12, 2014 by Blood-Is-in-Diamond

woggleman
I'm a cynical bastard so I enjoyed most of it. The best humor is true and to the point about real life and this game takes a sledgehammer to society. Some call it mean spirited but I call it brutal and honest. [µT]
I remember hearing some radio commercial in game for Righteous Slaughter I think.. in the advertisement they described it something along the lines of being a "first person shooter with a cliche story..." and the only thing I could think of is wow, this is like listening to one of those people that tries overly hard to be blunt and funny and just fails. I get a lot of second hand embarrassment from the humor in this game because a lot of it is just so bad. I did get a kick out of this though

It reminds me of cheesy vaginas which for some reason people find funny. IV had great humor but that was not an example of it. Hodgey.
In terms of the radio I think its time that Lazlow moved on from writing parts ofthe radio for GTA games. He could still be involved in some way but I think he really is running out of new and fresh ideas as he has written the majority of the radio since GTA VC (I think)
Algonquin Assassin
I didn't think there was anything wrong with the humour apart from peds. I don't know what happened there, but they just seem boring to me. When Michael hazes Trevor about being a hipster I legit started crying out of laughter. Just comedic gold. Dope_0110
HD era definitely falls behind 3D era when it comes to humor. And this ain't nostalgia talking. HD era brought beautiful graphic, more realistic driving and overall gameplay, new gameplay mechanics such as cover, shooting from car in any direction etc.. TV shows even. But humor is definitely on a lower level if we just compare radio shows and nothing more. The first thing I do in any GTA is listen to talk shows on the radio, I don't even care for the music and only let it play later on when I know every word of the talk shows. And when IV came, it just disappointed me.. radio was nowhere near as good as previous radio shows in SA, VC and III (gotta play some VCS to hear what they got). And it's similar in V. There's just not enough of over the top crazy guests.

cholesterol
The only thing that has changed humor wise in V is that R* seems to be making fun of the left side of the political spectrum more, rather than focusing mainly on just the right. Which is a welcomed change indeed. Also, V has more political/cultural humor in general and less childish humor radio wise than the III era of games. I mean R* seems to think their fans humor has matured since VC and SA. I guess by this thread they were wrong to make such an assessment. I like the more intellectual humor of V and IV more than the childish fart jokes of the past. Not saying the HD era doesn't have any childish jokes, it's just that the vast majority of R*'s humor is more political and cultural satire now, that requires you to actually make the effort to think about said jokes. I prefer that kind of humor over toilet humor. It's why George Carlin is one of the greats and Andrew Dice Clay is funny for about 10 minutes. Not saying GTA is on the same level as Carlin but you get the point. I know I keep harping on this but I still can't understand why so many people find cheesy vaginas funny. cholesterol and ActionBronson
œaœa
I don't think any of you listen to the radio long enough, don't let a few commercials hold you back, the talk shows are where the gold is at.
Gnocchi Flip Flops
Yes. I noticed this immediately after I first tuned into the talk radio stations. They just are not funny, and they're insulting when compared to past GTA's (and that includes IV which had a lot of humor albeit it was a dark game). V has a lot of "try-hard" humor that leaves me scratching my head when the jokes are over as opposed to chuckling like I usually would with III, VC, or IV. I have laughed like 3 times at the pedestrian and radio quotes. I laughed more at the story when crazy events happened. Ain't that sad?

WorldWideFM
I thought the humour in the main game was funny; cutscenes I mean. It had me in stitches frequently and that's actually one of the first things that hit me when playing it for the first time, just how well done the humour was, I loved it. But on the radio... yeah it's a little forced and it feels like it was written by a completely different team. Perhaps it was. I feel the same way about IV's radio though in fact, IV was considerably worse in this regard. I miss the radio of III, VC and SA. The talk radio in the HD GTAs has been poor in my opinion, and the adverts not great either. Still, I think V is a slight improvement, particularly the Fernando bit. But the SD GTAs still have me in stiches to this very day, the radio was great. "The Degenetron gaming system comes with three exciting games, including Defender of the Faith where you save the green dots with your fantastic flying red square. Monkey Paradise! Where you swing from green dot to green dot with your red square monkey! And Pentrator! Where you smash the green dots deep inside the mysterious red square!"
