I doubt they'd go with the M1A1 since that's clearly not the iconic mob gun

though the drum magazine could also be the upgraded magazine (similar to the MG's)

cuz I think it's just based of the tommy gun in general and not any specific model

Also known as "Chicago Typewriter", "Trench Sweeper", "Trench Broom", Organ Grinder", among a few others. The variant you're confused with as "not the Tommy Gun" is the wartime variant. Where they had to cut the weight of it. I don't knnow if any of you have held a Thompson, but its a bit hefty by itself, even more so with a drum magazine, added fore-grip, longer barrel, ect...
