This new Thompson coming in the Valentine's Day Massacre DLC is most likely going to be free of charge similar to almost all of the other DLC weapons. Do you guys think this will this be OP as any noob fresh off the boat can put his hands on a machine gun, while you can unlock an Uzi at level 5, it still probably won't compare to the Tommy gun. Not to mention it's completely free of charge.

Nahh... it actually gives low-level players a chance to survive since the next good gun is the AK, which is unlocked in the 20's. I hated playing with only a pistols and SMG's when I started out...

hope is unlocked for low levels... it would make thing a bit easier for them, surviving in this jungle with only a pistol is not an easy task.

Prolly gonna be classified as an Assault rifle..or SMG so 85% of players won't use it because its not overly broken.

 

I'm more interested in the fine striped suits.

 

God pls no more purple tinged suit pants.

 

Curious when the whole event will leave since everything is supposedly limited time stuff that you keep if you buy/got.

.45's were known for their renowned accuracy as a pistol cartridge. I don't know how that applies to a full sized weapon and not handgun but i'd imagine the accuracy and damage will be pretty good.

I'm basing this off the previous DLC weapons they produced.

Like the other DLC weapons, if they are free and available to anyone for free, I hope it's nerfed to novelty use like the SNS, unless it's an unlockable similar to how the Assault SMG is free in Story but in Online you have to rank up to unlock it. I know GTA Online is a mess but newcomers should have no more of an advantage than I had, tanks or no tanks.

I'm no gun nut but I remember a documentary once about this gun and its use by 1930's gangsters. It was pretty much and spray-and-pray type of deal, with no real accuracy even at close range and less penetration than the .45 pistols of the era.

 

Of course, whether Rockstar chooses to apply even a modicum of realism to this gun is a whole different issue and one I don't really hold much hope for. It's hard to incorporate weapon inaccuracy into an auto-aim environment.

Tommy Guns have TERRIBLE accuracy and range.

 

It should be a fast-firing powerhouse, but have serious inaccuracy.

 

I can't wait to use it though. Tommy Guns are my favorite guns in real life.

Well as the Thompson's mobster variant was portrayed in almost any movie it was in, the mobsters just put it at their hip and held down the trigger. Of course it wouldn't be accurate. If you shouldered the weapon, you might see some accuracy to give some other caliber's a run for their money. The stereotype of the weapon is the spray and pray type weapon, we'll just wait and see how Rockstar goes about doing it's implementation.

Looking at the DLC picture, it looks like this is going to be a hip-fire weapon; he's obviously not aiming with the shoulder. Unless there's an attachment that makes us fire from the shoulder, I doubt this will be a very accurate weapon.

I just want to be able to fire it while hanging off the side of a Roosevelt. I think its a good thing to allow lower levels to use it as long as its not OP. We will see soon I guess.

Tommy Guns are an SMG

So it's gonna have bad accuracy and high fire rate. (Most likely medium spread)

I would love hard recoil so it's more fun to use though lol.
