^^Dune Buggy is a little different, the back wheels are much wider than the rest of the vehicle and they get caught on things when you try to maneuver in tight spaces, like getting dumped in a cluster of trees :).

I found my line up that slope, though, so it's not as much of an issue now. I think Devil's Canyon is still my favorite, but this is a solid #2. If I don't get stuck any place I can run it under five minutes in the buggy.

And here i'm taking about 9 minutes in my Mesa like it's pretty good lol, well done man.

Thanks

For the Mesa I'm sure 9 minutes is pretty damn good, I sold mine a long time ago because I got tired of it tipping over all the time lol.

The Dune Buggy is a beast with full mods, though, f*cker flies...

I made a video of me climbing up the obstacle in a stock Sandking while in the creator: Far from the best quality as I had to hold my phone and controller simultaneously and then drive while keeping the screen somewhat in focus: Tried a picture but it didn't really work, plus this way you can see that it is possible, at least in the Sandking. Hope this helps.

Sure, you can do it while filming. ;-)

I ran this again on the weekend with a stock Sandking SWB and my current stable of custom off-road vehicles: MW Mesa, dirty Rebel, Injection, and Sanchez.

Pretty much the same experience all around. Checkpoint 11 is my nemesis, everything else is okay. I've only gotten up the checkpoint 11 obstacle once, with a stock Sandking SWB.

I'm going to go back and take a look at checkpoints 27 and 37 that you called out. With nothing else giving me trouble like checkpoint 11, I'm wondering if I've missed cues on the checkpoints that give you trouble and perhaps I am taking an easy way and missing the obstacles entirely.

All that said, I was surprised to find that this trail really seemed to play to the Rebel's virtues, outside of checkpoint 11. If I find I've been bypassing obstacles accidentally, that might change.

Of course, running it with the Sanchez was just an easy run to soothe my frustrations. I think I might get my friend who is a Sanchez fan to run this as an actual race with me.

I get stuffed by 11 once in awhile, but not as often as the other two:

Here's some pics of 27 and 37 with the intended routes.

Unfortunately the hills at these checkpoints are too steep to prop them effectively....

Intended path is the green line, with the detour in yellow:

27

amsa9v.jpg

Sometimes I will clear this on the first attempt, but usually I get stuffed for awhile because if I go up the rock face too slowly, I can't get over the crest. If I speed up too much, I catch air and then the truck bounces on it's springs and won't get going and I slide back down. There's also a cave off to the left which I hadn't noticed prior to creating this track, but there's nothing significant inside.

37

fthqgk.jpg

This one I get caught out trying to make the turn to reach the crest, sometimes the back wheels slip off the edge and I get thrown off, or I just get stuck because the hillside is pretty steep in that area.

I acquired a Sandking SWB of my own tonight and fully upgraded it, it helped some but these spots still give me trouble.

Those are super helpful visual references. I recognize 37 and have been doing it correctly. Tough but fun and doesn't give me trouble like 11 does.

I don't recognize 27 so strongly. Suggests to me I've probably been taking the detour without realizing it.

Sounds about right. I just visited the trail again in my custom MW Mesa to do checkpoint 27(-28) the right way. A little different, but not much trouble. Mesa is able to catch some air at the top and still get traction to keep going.

When I say only 11 is a problem for me, it's not like the other obstacles aren't challenging for me. I'm just happy to throw myself at an obstacle over and over again as long as I have faith that I can find a way past it.

Checkpoint 11 is one obstacle that I don't have faith I can get past except in the Sandking, and then mostly by luck.

Have you passed the obstacle at checkpoint 11 with anything other than a Sandking?

Since I did get past checkpoint 11 the one time, and am now more confident I'm running the other most difficult spots correctly, it's probably time to abuse myself with XJpostman's Aunt Flow trail again sometime. Only obstacle I haven't been able to pass.

Honestly, I haven't run it in anything but the Sandking because the only other vehicle I can see having a shot at it would be the MW Mesa which I no longer own.

I'll test out a few other vehicles over the weekend and see what happens.

Well, so far I've managed to clear #11 with my Dune Buggy (literally, I jumped it lol) but that's the all I've managed with what I have available to me, will try some more later.

Maybe I need to take a break from doing these, I think I went a bit nuts with this:

Jet Set Shakedown

http://rsg.ms/1mKTI1T

This course winds all through the hills in Vinewood, lots of side-hilling and some unique obstacles I think. I tried to keep it as natural as possible, so aside from the tire stacks, signs, and cones for guidance, I didn't resort to putting ramps in people's backyards or anything of that sort. This is another one that I've only tested with the Sandking, because there are some spots where you have to climb over low fences/guardrails. The Sanchez may work if you wheelie into them, I suspect you'd be able to hop over, but I haven't tried it yet.

I wouldn't say that was ridiculously fun, but it was both ridiculous and fun. :-)

Re: taking a break, I do think you're starting to push past genius into madness, but please keep it coming. ;-)

I'm really impressed with how much natural terrain you scouted in the urban environment. I prefer the natural terrain to props and you really took advantage of the landscape.

I took a stock Sandking SWB for my first run. I really enjoyed the challenge and pacing. There were no frustrating obstacles requiring multiple attempts. Not that I don't like difficult obstacles, but it was a nice change of pace.

I really didn't have any trouble running the whole trail without falling off course or needing to respawn. At the same time, the side-hilling was nail-biting. And every time I started to feel confident, the side-hilling got more intense. My internal voice kept having to revise "I've got this" to "Oh you've got to be kidding".

I started a second run at it with my custom MW Mesa. That really wasn't going very well. I quit it pretty early. Maybe XJpostman will do it in the Mesa with his greater skill and patience for detouring.

I wrapped up with a third go on the Sanchez. The Sanchez tore through it all pretty easily with its ridiculous (and wonderful) physics. No problem bumping up the barriers, as you suspected.

I really haven't driven the dune buggy much. I'm planning to buy one as soon as they let us purchase second garages.

I just took a stock dune buggy through the trail. It handles a lot like the Injection, but without the strong tendency to backflip on steep slopes. The light weight provides performance reminiscent of the Sanchez as well. Overall the driving experience is somewhere between the two.

It was actually a pretty easy run overall. Quickest I've taken checkpoints 27 and 37. Still had to detour checkpoint 11 though! Wonder if that was due to performance difference between stock dune buggy and your dune buggy, or if I'm just doin it rong.

Dat ground clearance tho! :-P I had to respawn when I high centered the dune buggy on a single tire lying flat on the ground after I knocked it out of a stack.

Thanks for the compliments, I'm glad you're enjoying these :)

It's getting hard to find good places to run that haven't already been covered, or at least to put a different twist on them. Scouting the terrain wasn't really a problem, you can see it all pretty clearly when you're overhead, the challenge was to connect the dots, so to speak. There were quite a few times where I'd be looking for where to go next, and I'd see something panning overhead in the creator and think, "that looks pretty cool", only to run it and find it was a complete dead end, or that it was blocked off with no way to access it. I also would have liked to have another spot or two where you're cutting through people's yards to fit in with the theme a little better, but it's all fenced off really good (as you'd expect) and I really felt that having an actual ramp sitting there would look totally out of place.

Re: The dune buggy, it's my favorite off-road vehicle by a long ways, even moreso than the Sandking, and especially after 1.12 where you can fit with turbo and all of the performance mods. The ground clearance can be a problem (try running it on Frustration, clearing the river jump only to beach on the rocks and have to respawn anyways lol), but that just adds to the fun and challenge of using it IMO. I was never able to clear checkpoint #11 by running it the "normal" way, I had to reverse back between the tire stacks from the last climb, and floor it at the obstacle (full mods come into play for sure). A couple of times I caught sufficient air to land at the top but even doing that the success rate was marginal, I think I cleared it twice out of a dozen or so attempts. I think it's safe to say at this point you need a Sandking to clear #11

How do yall post link to your races? I would like to post some of mine. Also does the bumper on the SandKing make a difference on completing Aunt Flow? I'm thinking about trying without bumper.

I was waiting for the update to buy a Dune Buggy to upgrade, but ended up selling my Bati to do so. Not tried it on anything mad yet, but I had massive difficulty crossing the Raton river in it yesterday and it does get beached a bit too much. It'll be interesting to see how it fares against a Sanchez on the off-road tracks; even in standard form I love the way it drives, and its speed.

Bring up your race in SC, scroll down below the description and click on the SHARE button. This will bring up three tabs: Facebook, Twitter, and Copy Link. Click on Copy Link and paste the URL into your post here. Also, I'm fairly certain you don't want the custom bumper on the Sandking for Aunt Flow as it reduces your ground clearance at the front which is not good.

My favorite trail to run it on is XJpostman's Devil's Canyon. It can handle crossing the Raton River just fine on this trail as long as you line up straight on your approach and then floor it. I still get a laugh out of watching that thing completely submerge like a damned submarine and then pop out the other side. You can use the jump on the south bank to cross back over for the next checkpoint. I have way too much fun with that vehicle...

Well, so much for taking a break :facedesk:

Lifeguard Off Duty

Really happy with this one, these areas have some of the best scenerey in the game, IMO, and it's pretty wide open so when you get up on top of the right hill you get some really nice views. This starts in the desert and pretty much winds up the east coast to Mount Gordo. I've tested it with the Sandking and the Dune Buggy, both stock in the creator and didn't have any significant trouble.

Edit - May need to go back to the drawing board on this one, when I tested it I never had any problem navigating the coastline after passing the Humane Labs, but I ran this in the proper game for the first time last night and every time I ran it there was such a massive tide that rolled in even the Sandking got swallowed up and I drowned once or twice before I got through.

Edit 2 - And after another test I've removed that section and changed the path a bit. Quite a stark contrast between the test mode in the creator and the actual game. In the creator I could park out on that coastline and not have any trouble. In the actual race, I can see the coastline right up until I get to that point and then the water suddenly swells and I'm f*cked.

If I had one minor criticism, I will say that I didn't really like the use of the railcars, they look out of place and I'd rather see the area open using checkpoint placement and/or signs to guide me along the intended route, but that's just my personal taste.

Overall this was a lot of fun with the Dune Buggy, a nice blast over some rough terrain and a good change of pace from the monster rocks and other wackyness I've been running lately. I'm going to show it to a buddy of mine, I'd imagine he'll have fun using his modded Bifta to run it. :^:

Sorry guys, I've been taking a break lately to play some 'SP: The Stick of Truth' (great game btw) and haven't gotten to try out some of these new trails but I'll be getting back into it soon. I added a bunch to my game last night and it looks like some interesting new additions.

Hey XJPostman. Really curious as to where you rank my course "White Water". Just recently I found my way onto the forums and I would love to do anything I can to try and get White Water verified by Rockstar. Not a session have I ever done that I didn't have 2-3 people tell me that it's the best they've ever done. The only dislikes ive ever gotten on the course were from guys in custom Biftas and Sanchez. Soon as they hit the water they die out, get mad and quit.

White Water will never get verified - you say yourself in the description that it's not intended as a race. Not sure I am a massive fan, either; the starting grid isn't in line with where you need to go, the first checkpoint can't be seen, and it just feels like you drove around and randomly put down checkpoints; it doesn't have a flow. Some of the props get in the way too.

Many thanks for your feedback, I have updated the content.

- Removed all railcars, totally agree with you on that.

- Added more signs where possible to increase visibility of route.

- Spaced some checkpoints and tweaked the finish location a little.

- Added some "ease of life" ramps from the road back to the stream between checkpoint 34 & 35

- Got 4 remaining checkpoints for any future tweaks... props pretty much maxed.

Would like to improve.

- Checkpoint 28 to 30 with detour or more visibility somehow.

- Checkpoint 31 to 32 would like to go under the bridge and back on to the road, but bit too tricky? and trees.

Thanks a lot for playing my race, I have a few others that are similar but I won't suggest them as I think maybe they are not quite as suited as this one. Cheers

The starting grid is placed right in front of the the sign for Raton Canyon right across the street from the Hookies. So when cruising with friends I feel like it's right where it needs to be. As far a props being in the way. I'm guessing your referring to the wall I created that stops other players from cheating the zig zag mainly sandkings. Each prop has a purpose of direction. Nothing gets in your way of where the course intends for you to go. Keep in mind I have it setup for a full 16 players in mind.

Reading that back it looks like I'm slating you - I really didn't intend to and I'm sorry! The starting grid location is fine, it's the alignment that's wonky. I did it on my own and my Sandking spawned facing at a bit of an angle, towards the props you've placed to direct you down the right road. Really a checkpoint down there would do the job; and realigning the grid so it faces the right way :)

The other thing which I hope is constructive: if you split it into three races using the different sections then it would probably flow better. A chap in my crew created a similar race down the Zancudo river section at the end of yours; here's a link: http://rsg.ms/SAPqAp - so I've done that section before a number of times. Same with the canyon road before the off-roading really starts. The bit I like most with yours is the off-roading in the Raton Canyon and up Josiah. Some good descents. I don't think the props are necessary, personally, but I guess I know that area quite well having played races on it many times.

I don't think Rockstar will ever verify any race of this type, though; it's not really something I can imagine people choosing on the vote screen. Off-roading seems a bit of a niche pursuit.

PSN ID is in my profile I think, but it's Jobbo_ - I have had a cull of US friends though because I'm never online at the same time!

Yeah White Water was never intended for a Sandking. Too big and bulky, and obnoxious for the other players. I put up those walls on the zig zag to discourage Sandking users.

Lol so all in all I did an excellent job now that I know you were using the sandking
