Yeah I don't have much of a problem facing tanks after having some experience with em and reading tips from here.

I actually enjoy facing tanks, its fun to rush for a heli and snipe the bastard out of his tank lol

If you snipe a tank then you are exploiting a game bug! I will report you and leave. Have sent emails to rockstar about this as well. Snipers are the worse kind of cowards hiding up away from all the action. Im not defending a tank griefer but snipers are no better! Just hang out on the streets and have a good old firefight together like gta is meant to be! Not hiding on roofs or in tanks that most of you bought with a glitch and hacked money!

lol good one.

I like going into passive mode and then running around a tree or something while they try to hit me, hilarious and usually distracts them long enough for another player to come in and destroy them.

i hate tanks. just because they force a game dynamic on me i don't like. whatever i'm doing in an area, tank comes along and i have to react or leave. and also because 99% of the time they're driven by a noisy hollywood dumbass/coward.

personally unless a tank is already a good sniper distance away i don't snipe. if a tanks shows up quick, 9 times out of 10 i'll just move on satisfied that rage quit bravado you might hear is just masking frustration that he got a tank and has no-one to play with.

if i decide i want to take it on my preferred method is to bait it into a sticky bomb trap. i haven't the patience to snipe, too often i've found myself in a blind spot when it goes somewhere i wasn't expecting. though it is quite satisfying, as cry's of anguish go, tank drivers suddenly being dead is beautiful note.

What he said! I love the term ragequit, it's so wrong! Tut-quit would be more accurate for me, if someone is being a dick I just tut and find new session . If everyone left tank sessions They'd quickly get bored of playing with themselves! :D

TL:DR: I guess what I want to know is this, for those of you who get spawn killed by tanks, why don't you ever use passive mode to get away?

....seriously?

You say that like passive = invincibility.

When I go passive I always spawn literally a block away from the tank, if that. Good luck getting away from that. Unless you spawn right next to a low wall or a set of stairs, there's no running away. Then they just hit you off with the barrel or sit there until you get so bored you need to leave. You can't even jump in a car and speed off because it takes 3 weeks to hotwire it.

I'd happily not be able to shoot out of a car or deal damage with the car while passive if it meant I can't be killed while I'm in it. F*ck knows why that isn't the case anyway.

I love parking my tank near my turf and wait for those looking for trouble. I give them exactly what they are looking for. Then they have the nerve to complain.

Im seeing this get brought up a lot so I want to see what peoples thoughts are on this.

The way I see it, freemode is all about choice, you should be able to check out your map and choose which players you can interact with, and how you do so.

At any time you can go into passive mode and wait until things pass, or simply change sessions. If you don't like the way people are playing you lose nothing from changing sessions, why you wouldn't do this is beyond me.

Should someone slip away from you in a shootout and manage to get to the tank location, you can always go into passive mode, stay in a safe place, and wait for the cops to take him out. Hell most of the time I enjoy rushing to a car and boosting away before he can shoot me. The cops will eventually take him out, it doesn't really take that long and it even be amusing to watch as he tries to kill you when you are untouchable.

Well you're right, but when a person is allowed to roam free in a tank, shooting anyone and everything while having players pay for their own insurance, then its a problem. No one joins a Freemode game saying "Okay, Im gonna join to let a 12 year-old in a tank blow up all my cars and let me pay for them" and finding a new server would fix this, but why should WE find a new server when we're fine playing on the one we're on?

Tanks are an issue because the driver can explode a pv and NOT have to pay the insurance for it.

That's a pretty gd big f'n issue right there.

Disclaimer: I, in no way, am defending tank drivers

I've used my tank a handful (lol handful) of times and they were mostly used to counter other tanks. why someone has fun in a tank...I don't know.

I really don't see why this is a big deal. Before update 1.0?,(idk which one) cars were ramming tanks, even when they weren't moving and tank owners would have to pay the insurance. No one bitched about that. Now, if a tank owner destroys a car, the owner has to pay, and everyone is pissed. Simple solution, attack or stay away. If you don't know the person in a tank assume that person is up to no good...on second thought, even if you DO know the person assume they're up to no good...friends can be dicks also.

What I'm saying is if you feel your controller vibrate exit the area or switch sessions. If you don't what happens next is up to you.

Maybe its just me, but I almost always spawn in a position where I can get to safety. If not I can usually jump out of the way.
