Im seeing this get brought up a lot so I want to see what peoples thoughts are on this.

 

The way I see it, freemode is all about choice, you should be able to check out your map and choose which players you can interact with, and how you do so.

 

At any time you can go into passive mode and wait until things pass, or simply change sessions. If you don't like the way people are playing you lose nothing from changing sessions, why you wouldn't do this is beyond me.

 

Should someone slip away from you in a shootout and manage to get to the tank location, you can always go into passive mode, stay in a safe place, and wait for the cops to take him out. Hell most of the time I enjoy rushing to a car and boosting away before he can shoot me. The cops will eventually take him out, it doesn't really take that long and it even be amusing to watch as he tries to kill you when you are untouchable.

 

 

 

TL:DR: I guess what I want to know is this, for those of you who get spawn killed by tanks, why don't you ever use passive mode to get away?

It's pointless.

 

If a player isn't using passive, they're obviously trying to destroy the tank.

 

No player tries to run without passive...

I most of times use passive mode and then get a random car..Put some sticky bomb, hide radar and boom. It's fun, if you're skilled use heavy sniper.

Well you're right, but when a person is allowed to roam free in a tank, shooting anyone and everything while having players pay for their own insurance, then its a problem. No one joins a Freemode game saying "Okay, Im gonna join to let a 12 year-old in a tank blow up all my cars and let me pay for them" and finding a new server would fix this, but why should WE find a new server when we're fine playing on the one we're on?

Hmmmmm I generally do 1 of 3 things...

 

1. Have at it with the fkr... stickies, snipe, air strike, off radar, jihad them (car loaded with stickies off radar)... etc... It's far more fun than getting my own tank (tbh I hardly ever use it unless mates and I are battling each other with em).

 

2. Go in passive, go somewhere they can't fck with me (behind the indestructible bushes seems most fun) and taunt them for a bit.

 

3. Just leave the area and go about my business.

 

Tankers don't bother me in the least. Not sure why all the fuss....

f*ck passive I get my crew and we snipe him then spawn kill him.

But they usually leave since they're too terrible to fight back.

 

If I'm alone I go off radar and snipe him then spawn kill.

The only time I fighted a tank was when someone messaged me that I should join him and fight it together. But he didn't join :(

 

I want to see another tank war between players. I'll just go on a roof with my sniper and shoot them again.

The amount of tank complaints I hear say otherwise. And I do see people getting gnawed to pieces by a tank without ever enabling passive mode.

Well you're right, but when a person is allowed to roam free in a tank, shooting anyone and everything while having players pay for their own insurance, then its a problem. I guess if you are fine with it then you shouldn't find a new server.

I remember having a tank chase me down the freeway when I was driving my Cheetah. He missed every shot he took at me and tried so hard to catch up. 2fast4tankscrub. Some dude in a Lazer ended up wiping the freeway with his tank.

Can't say I've had tanks be a big problem for me.

I can grab mine, snipe him, passive leave location, sticky a car or try (notice I said try) an air strike. If there's too many in the lobby I switch sessions or get on top of a building to see if I can get some kills. If I'm not in the mood for pvp I'll just launch a job. It amazing me how many people allow themselves to be spawn killed or waste rpg ammo on a tank. Pure stupidity.

The problem with lobby hopping is when you have a few friends with you. That is my main problems with tank kids.

 

When I play I have 2-3 friends I play with most of the time and it hell trying to find a lobby with room for all of us. So I don't like switching when I'm enjoyingmessing around with 15 other layers but then one decides to bring out the tank and just cause trouble.

 

i have no problem killing them... just becomes annoying. Even when you kill them it dosen't stop them from getting another one so the only to make them stop is gang bang them with your own tank or spawn kill them to make them leave.

Tanks are annoying but the map is huge. Whenever there's a tank in the city I just travel somewhere else. I see some player who seem to get a thrill of going after a tank despite being killed over and over again.

Even with passive mode you'll get tank'tards attempting to kill you by running you over or hitting you with the gun barrel..

 

Depends how many times you've made jokes about the tank compensating for their small dick size over the mic I suppose... :D

If you snipe a tank then you are exploiting a game bug! I will report you and leave. Have sent emails to rockstar about this as well. Snipers are the worse kind of cowards hiding up away from all the action. Im not defending a tank griefer but snipers are no better! Just hang out on the streets and have a good old firefight together like gta is meant to be! Not hiding on roofs or in tanks that most of you bought with a glitch and hacked money!

oh yeah, excuse me while I hang around and let a tank spawn kill me while attempt to shoot back at it with a machine gun..

 

It's a bit rich complaining about an achilles heel in something that is expotentially more powerful than anyone on foot..

 

It's perhaps positive that there is some kind of levelling in that sense..

 

And you can't really complain about a sniper rifle taking out a tank.. the Finns were taking them out bottles of vodka in the Winter War...

but you're also missing the point

 

any1 is free to do whatever they want and that includes going on a rampage with a tank and you can't really complain since it's part of the game and in free roam anything goes

but that's not the complaint against tanks really

the complaint against tanks is more one of gameplay balance (or lack of)

it's pretty clear to see the tank is pretty OP and with it not paying any Insurance it's pretty much the go-to vehicle for any1 wanting to act like a dick

and acting like dicks seems to be really popular in this game

but there's more that really doesn't make sense, why pay 500$ for one RPG when you can get a f*cking tank with UNLIMITED ammo for a measely 200$ (yes the tank costs a sh*tload of money but every1 bought it with hacked money anyway)

 

so it's not really an argument against people using tanks but against the unbalanced game mechanics concerning the tank

 

btw personally I've never been too bothered by tanks in free-roam, I just drive away if I don't feel like it

but I can clearly see that the tank is very poorly implemented if you look at balance and stuff

I probably get reported for tank sniping all the time. I love it.

 

 

Also.. Its not exploiting a game bug. It just happens man. I just aim at the driver and shoot.. Hes dead.

 

You can't report that..

 

 

 

 

Also.. There is no real pvp in free roam.. Its the quick and the dead. Theres no rules.

 

 

I hate people that keep telling me stupid sh*t in free roam.. Like im a coward for not killing them they way the like, even tho they attack me 1st. If you want a chance at legit and balanced pvp, death matches are where you should be. Free roam is not even close to death match.

Agree with this. I was in an Ammunation and a guy in a tank parked it front of the doors so I couldn't get out. He then text me ingame with the message "Ha ha! You can't get out loser"

 

So I switched sessions, spawning in the same location. It took me all of 20 seconds.

 

I didn't even bother replying sarcastically to the guy telling him I had indeed 'got out' of the Ammunation as I couldn't even be bothered to acknowledge his actions. I hope the fact I didn't even respond pissed him off.

 

The only time I can see switching sessions as an issue is if you're in the same session as some friends.

Tanks are an issue because the driver can explode a pv and NOT have to pay the insurance for it.

 

That's a pretty gd big f'n issue right there.
