Why is public free roam so DIFFERENT?

For the past 2 weeks I've been playing GTA O and have never seen a tank, most players are doing something other than killing each other, some players are teaming up against cops, most where doing other activities in groups, you where able to walk pass a player without passive mode enabled and survive, there where less adders in the streets. Has gta online changed or am I just 1 lucky motherf*cker? Have you ever experienced this?

You probably just ran into a lobby with a bunch of buddies / crew members mucking around in freeroam. They tend to just mess around and all pile into the Titan.

 

Try loading it up again today and I except any white dot within auto-aim range will light you up.

Yup its not so bad despite what all the trolls and badasses on here will tell you that they kill everything that moves and free-roam is 1 big death match blah blah blah

 

I find passive players in almost every session. Impromtu races are great fun and I'm enjoying myself without doing PVP.

 

BUT I still go on rooftop sniper sprees so keep your eyes on the radar! lol

 

Edit: I use free-aim, dunno how different it is from AA^^

Think of Free Roam as a really bad case of Natural Selection.

I still get the occasional idiot that follows me halfway across the city for a cheap thrill only to get killed 2 times and piss off, but for the most part it is pretty peaceful and i love it. I can search for simeon's cars and be on my way back out the door.

It's been better ever since the Great Cash Wipe. A lot of people are more hesitant to blow up your PV or even use their ammo to try and kill you.

I've hit a couple of lobbies that just had some real nice people playing.

 

Just the other day, I was overhearing two people who didn't know each other team up to rob some stores. They were having a blast...so I got out a Buzzard and went over to them and landed in front of them as they left a store. They were scared at first that I was there to kill them....but they DIDN'T SHOOT ME. I just sat there, then they jumped in and I proceeded to take them from store to store.

 

It was like a GTA:O commercial....teaming up with a random person to successfully complete an objective. It was magical. Then someone else shot down our Buzzard with a mini-gun, because, douchebags.

I've never seen a Freemode like this. Everytime I enter a Freemode and get too close to another white dot, my car gets sprayed with automatic gunfire, or I have to swerve to avoid an RPG, even after they took all the gazillions away, and even in free aim.

I find it to be a mixture of what you found above and the chaos that is described oin here on the forums.This last month I've been ruining around in public matches to get my races/DM out there and hopefully verified. But as I jump around servers with my crew we have come across everything from friendly crew battles, to everybody minding their own business, to nothing but trolls causing us to shut down and hold several blocks. That last example was actually really fun and a first for me.

This has happened more then once a player is on the map near a bridge i go to the bridge can't see the player anywhere yet he can kill me and blow up my car.. Have you encountered this.??

yes i have. It's not like they can chase you though, so just leave them alone to sit in there alone boringness...

I still come across plenty of bored kids who wait outside LSC for 10 minutes while im modding a car, just so they can try killing me afterwards (haha bitch my car has heavy armor and bullet proof tires, your bullets fail and you look like a dumbass!)

Come to think of it I haven't seen a tank on the streets in weeks. Still plenty of nutters trying to kill me but no tanks thankfully. I think the cash wipe has ruined it for a lot of the griefers now. Very much a good thing.

The game is much better now that the big cash wipe happened and the hackers/glitchers are gone. When everyone had hundreds of millions, it was easy for people to just free roam and kill everyone they see and blow up PV's constantly. Now that the money is gone, the community feels much more co-operative. I've noticed a big difference in player behavior lately. It's nice actually

I get a mix of both. Some lobbies are peaceful, like what sadpandamakeup said, then the next lobby i'll join would be like what Gta-freak-VI said. Also depends on the time of day you login at as well from my experience.

Had someone in a tank waiting for me yesterday. I came out looking down the barrel, and that was that for me and me car. I seriously hate those things now.

I had a guy do that to me, xcept he parked way too close to LSC, so when I came out, he shot the wall inside LSC and missed me completely. Guess he forgot he could go forward *shrug*
