GTA V is my first title in this Game, so i know nothing of the others

I am thinking about buying GTA IV

but get a little confused when i look at the PSN Store and have a few questions

Which Are

  1. The Ballad of Gay Tony and The Lost and the Dammed add-on packs for Single player or do they cross over into online??
  2. Is the Map and open world environment
  3. Do you buy property or own garages in Online play
  4. are missions done in Online(I dont care about deathmatchs LTS matches, Just racing and the co-op missions)
  5. is there a earn cash to buy stuff system and ranking system in place??

I know its a lot to ask on these forums but i am asking for straight answers ...not just its great or it sucks replys ...i will welcome any opinion given with a why i think so definition to as why i think that

1. They cross over into online. The Ballad of Gay Tony, I think (Don't quote me on that) added parachutes, so without that you'll not be doing any base jumping if that happens to take your fancy.

2. Yes. In single player though, parts of the map were restricted dependent on your progress in the story (unless I am not recalling correctly). All there to be traversed into online.

3. No.

4. There are races, but not really missions as you know them.

5. There is for the various game modes, but not the free roam stuff. It's quite different than V in a lot of aspects.

There are races and some ''missions'' that are more like game modes. GTA IV, TBoGT and TLAD are all in separated lobbies. The map is a free roam but it's only city with no underwater or wilderness. You do not buy anything in the Multiplayer. The Multiplayer works like a 10 ranks system where you gain cash (exp) yet the only thing you obtain are clothes and some different faces.

I must warn you. The GTA IV Multiplayer is flooded with modders who will instantly pick on the one normal player in the Free Mode. The Free Mode is a mdoe where you can go anywhere on the map but nothing else. There is no cash to be earned or nothing to own. You find weapons in some places on the map and you can repair your car and health with the medkits you can find on the map just like the weapons.

Since you played GTA 5 before the GTA 4, you will find that the vehicles in GTA 4 have messed up physics and go incredibly slow. You will also notice the lack of speed in any of your character's movements.

Didn't bother reading your post at all after the title, all I can truly say is DON'T! GTA4 is a horrible story and even worse online experience, might I suggest vice city or san andreas, both were good for their time and still interesting to play.

Actually the vehicles physics are better in GTA 4. Not sure about slow tho... Fast cars got fast slow cars go slow.

Do yourself a favor, and play 3-SA instead. Much better experiences.

GTA IV (In my opinion) kinda sucked.

Well whats stopping you dont listen to people saying dont buy it i own it and it has a great story but i have to say the online is pretty dull compared to V but the story in IV is better then V which feels way too random at times and if you get the chance to pick up gta vc and gta sa(my favorite in the series)both are classics and great for theyre time.

Buy it to drive, that's all it does. It does that excellelently however.

Also, Gay Tony and LostDamned are not expansions or DLC. They are separate games using same map, story and characters.

I can recommend the ballad of gay tony, story has funny stuff and it unlocks the whole map from the start. steam has a sale for it every summer on PC. you can pick it up for around 5 bux.

I must admit I am a life long GTA fan and I have trouble with playing GTA IV, just couldn't get into Niko. I got to a point where I didn't like him. One minute he was moaning about how much he hated things in the war and the next it was Oh so you want me to kill him then. The Ballad of Gay Tony I really enjoyed, it was so OTT I would just chuckle...

You can get both TBOGT and LAD on one disk that doesn't need GTA IV and I would recommend that.

PS the Car physics sucks, they drive like big wallowing boats

Thanks for all the input guys....after reading some of the post i dont think i will buy it........i enjoying the earning and buying aspect of GTA5 and it sounds like GTA 4 didnt incorporate that to much of an extent

I had saw it at the PSN store for 19 bucks or 29 bundled with The Ballad of Gay Tony and the Lost and The Damned .......I think i will pass for now LOL

Please play San Andreas. Man I wish I was experiencing SA for the first time. Vice City is great to. 3 was incredible at the time, and still worth the play, but I would put it 3rd out of the last gen games.

1.Both add-ons are like a complete new GTA with a few new vehicles and weapons. New story and protagonist but the city is mostly the same.(Can also play multi-player too)

2.All GTAs are open world.(GTA was the game that defined Open-World)

3.Online is just free roam.

4.There are 3 missions online.

5.You earn cash to rank up(in multiplayer).

BTW this is in the wrong section. And how old are you? How come you never played any previous GTAs?

I agree with the others. Buy Vice City and (especially) San Andreas instead.

After you play San Andreas you'll wonder why all the amazing things it incorporated weren't added to GTAO . . . (yet?).

I liked GTA IV, especially the story mode, don't know what your problem on that one is guys.

I really enjoyed GTA IV, I got myself that edition where you got all Sagas on one disc, wasn't even expensive. It was definitely worth the money.

Your first GTA was/is GTA V. I don't think that you will really like GTA IV because it just seems like a worse version of the latest one... the fighting, the shooting... well I can't really explain it.

Playing San Andreas might be the better choice for you as it's something really different and a true classic.

TL;DR:

SA might be better for you unless you're a graphics freak. GTA IV has better mods for the PC... piratebay

Biohazard Abyss

It's better than V, and cheap, so get the complete edition that comes with all 3.

gta4_complete_ps3.jpg

TLAD > GTAIV > TBoGT

Then buy Vice City, then San Andreas, then all the others, then Chinatown Wars, then GTA Advanced.

It's better than V,

Says the person who uses an overpowered, yet still trash tier Tekken character ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Dr B. > all

Paul Phoenix has some really good combos but I can't get over his Slim Jim mascot hair.

Still better than Lars though, because f*ck Lars.

On topic: GTA 4+DLC is definitely worth it OP, especially now that it's cheap. Has a more varied soundtrack too.

That's kind of my point, not unlike the points that make up his stupid haircut.

gta 4 online was not even in the same league as gtaO. If you think it is because of some of the whiny kids on this forum you will be disappointed. They cry about the game because that is what kids do. If you buy it will you wont play it for long before realizing how much better every aspect of 5 is. sp and mp. It is a really bad version of battlefield with regular vehicles.
