OP doesn't understand legit. what it means or it's value.

yeah legit seems to mean playing a mission over 100 times because it's just so much fun

And BTW: you probably meant: its value ;) if you already want to start like this...

oh noes, don't crush with your grammar hammer.

as for the request to explain... seriously, if you can't understand it on your own i'm not wasting my time explaining, spend some time thinking about it. its not rocket science.

*me* ?

You're on a forum to discuss ideas and information, posting your thoughts... yet you don't want to 'waste your time' explaining your meaning behind them? How very worthwhile of you indeed.

If you glitched anything in this game, then you are a worthless piece of crap as far as I'm concerned.

And IMO, anyone who says something like this is a worthless piece of crap as far as I'm concerned.

There are lots of little exploits in the game that people don't mind using, and you are pretty much insulting all of them including teleporting, single player vehicles, and maybe even pressing square to restart a mission since the option doesn't show. If someone gets a firetruck to kill someone in passive mode, is that a glitch or did Rockstar put that in on purpose? Only they can really say.

And to call an entire population worthless pieces of crap for something so petty, you are really being very narrow minded. You don't know these people, and they might be hero's in their real lives who are just having fun in a video game.

Glitching and cheating are not the same thing. Some glitches can be exploited to cheat with, but other glitches are just bugs that people will learn for fun or other useful reasons that would not necessarily be defined as cheating. If a game like freemode can't be won or lost, why would it matter if someone teleports across the map to save time? What are you really cheating other than the clock?

I don't mind when glitches are looked down on, but there are better ways to encourage legit play.

wait, what? I either don't understand the OP or he doesn't understand the difference between 'glitching' and 'farming'... but that doesn't matter, I want to focus on the first line in the OP

People's LEGIT earned money IS better. Look at it like this, (real life) If I worked my a88 off at a repetitive job for a year doing the same thing over and over and made $20,000.... THAT earned money IS better than someone else's money they got by working an easy job and just floating through the year doing what they wanted. Even if they made $100,000. Why? Because there is more sweat/blood/tears attached to that $20,000.... that is why it is better.

Is there blood/sweat/tears in GTAO? No, it's just a video game.... I was trying to help you understand by comparing to some thing.

actually that was misdirected tone meant more at the OP - because i was toying with explaining. so i'll take that worthwhile indeed on the chin ;) but while i wait for her to get home i'll go for it instead of playing flappy bird again.

legit playing is to play the game as it's designed to be played, both mechanics and in spirit. the essence of a game is the challenge, and a large part of basic design of GTA is to operate within the economic system of the game. of course part of the point of the game is to acquire - but to acquire in a developmental way, some things from RP, some things from cash. to simply have cash or RP makes both commodities arbitrary, and therefore progression becomes arbitrary and you're suddenly just left in a sand box which will essentially now stay exactly the same for a long time and be boring. it's no wonder there's so much vitriol about no content updates and no hiests, when such a large amount of players are basically playing what must seem to them an empty shell of game. but playing legit safeguards a sense of progression, i looked forward to getting the stuff i earned.

i play legit, I have from day 1, and i would guess i've played coveted maybe 16 times give or take. 7 of those times were on two occasions someone might describe as grinding. one when i needed some cash fast because I'd budgeted badly and forgot i was out of ammo, and the other i was 25k off getting my adder and i wanted it before i had to have a few days away from the game. the other times were because i fancied a good sniping mission on my own, another when i got my heavy sniper to test it out, a few times with a couple of friends and a few times with strangers. I will probably play it again tonight because i read someone describe a method of playing it i haven't tried that sounds like fun. the reason i say all this is because I wouldn't describe any of my playing of this level as grinding because none of it was arduous in any way.

and that whole experience is pretty much a mirror of all the missions and jobs i play. some i've played more than others of course, but the vast majority of the time i play jobs because its what i feel like doing. not in some hippy dippy way where i could say i'd play them for free - because earning and progression is an important part of the game design too. If i sit and play 3 death matches, I earn 8-35k, i could say i spent an hour grinding DMs, or i could say i spent an hour enjoying my favourite part of the game.

apart from jobs i enjoy always being on the lookout for a baller or felon to sell, and i've never felt short of cash. I have a full 10 car garage, adder, entity, infernous, munroe, cheetah, plus sports, bike, offroad etc, everything fully spec'ed out, all had loads of resprays. i've sold or dumped a few too. i've run out of ammo once from being careless, I'm lvl 135, coming up to 6000 player kills and i've loved pretty much every minute of playing. both when i was looking forward to getting stuff, and then appreciating having it when i did, enjoyed my friends choosing to buy different things and most importantly enjoyed playing for it's own sake along the way. i've earned 11m and i've spent 10.5m, and the only gift i've had was the 500k stimulus and i once stole a car when i (unintentionally) spawned in someone else's garage joining the game just to see if i could, but I'm about square. I could have bought a tank instead of some other things, but I think tanks are for cowards. i just bring that up because i could have bought one, the game gave me a choice and i chose. I have no sense of entitlement to everything in the game just because it's there. as my garage is pretty sorted i think once i can afford to i might buy a buzzard because there are occasions I want one, i look forward to having one.

this is playing the game legit.

what isn't playing the game legit is trying to replicate the clusterf*ck the game becomes when you've had hacked money and glitch inflated RP levels. but saying that, if someone grinds an unbroken mission, it is technically legit because they get out for putting in, but grinding isn't the definition of playing legit. which was the OP's suggestion. and while i detest hackers and glitchers generally because they have a negative effect on my game, i have some sympathy for people who were gifted money anonymously and had it removed, it was right to happen, but i appreciate it must be hard playing the game on a budget if through no fault of your own you got used to playing like richie rich.

okay i'm done. more worthwhile? or just TL? probably the letter, but a cool story none the less :p

SaturdayNight

It's just stupid to be proud of something by spending endless amounts of time doing the same thing over and over again

Should I be ashamed of playing video games and logging into GTA: Online????

okay i'm done. more worthwhile? or just TL? probably the letter, but a cool story none the less :p

Later, not letter. Also, the "*me*?" in my post was what I assumed was missing from yours.

No TL, I read it. So that is what you feel is playing legit, thanks for taking the time to explain it. I'm assuming from reading it that you also equate this "value" to longevity of the game? Since you didn't state what value you gain from playing this way but did say you aren't stuck playing an empty shell of a game because you've chose to play this way.

I'm level 141.. haven't replayed high paying or high rp missions, don't even know what these challenges people have been talking about are, no dns stuffs... have done some win trading with friends for car unlocks and was gifted money, thankfully. I still play the game, don't bitch about the lack of updates and still have a good time. To me, I still have this "value" that you're saying OP doesn't have or understand.

I think that this feeling of legitimacy (I rarely see that word on this forum, lol) is really nothing more than gloating that you've (or other "legit's") have stuck to the basic premise of playing the game how you feel it was designed to be played. Slowly plodding along and such. But to me, that doesn't take the legitimacy out of how I play or the things I've accomplished in game.. *ugh. After typing that I feel dirty.* Not that anything I've done in this game means jack sh*t.. It's a game, meant to be played for escapism and entertainment, nothing more. So I still attain the same value as you.. I just get it differently I guess.

As said before who the f*ck really cares how you got your cash?... Everyone by now has/had a adder, all guns, full ammo, apartment w/heist room, tats, clothes, ... What more can I say? .... No one should really care at this point anymore... You can glitch, or earn as long as you are getting paid and enjoying the game as you want to enjoy it...

It's starting to be who has most skill... When in freeroam a sniper can hit you every spawn or kill you time after time and your worthless cash can't do sh*t about that unless you call someone, but you don't get the kills credited to your k/d... Money is overrated at this stage in the game... R* needs to bring out some houses for us to buy so money can become more of a need!.....)(

R* deliberately made the prices of items in game absurd to make their cash cards more attractive, so I can either give in and buy a cash card or find a way to glitch money....but I am never going to earn the amount of money that I need to get the things I want in the game through legit means before I get bored of this game. Not that I have accomplished much with glitching, I am lvl 51 and have sold 1 car glitched in from single player...I think my total earnings are around 3 million.

Or did they make everything expensive so the game would last longer than two weeks? If money/rank was easy to make in this game, the longevity of the online portion would greatly suffer. So they need a way to make the game last 5 years until the make GTA VI.

I've been playing since launch and I have yet need to, nor forced to, buy a cash card.

If you glitched anything in this game, then you are a worthless piece of crap as far as I'm concerned.

That's a little overboard. Anyway, since I lost approx. 700k from disappearing insurance, I had some coming to me. I've only brought in 4 or 5 cars and not just to sell. I ended up selling a couple, though.

Have fun being poor legit players

Seriously, I don't know how they do it, but the game is just not fun when you are broke, and it's ok when you have money lol. I rather get a lot of cash doing the same thing over and over again than barely making anything and spending more time doing it.

Legitimate game play involves something pretty simple...Game Play. Glitches bypass this aspect of the game in order to obtain objective content that should otherwise be indicative of progress and in most cases skill and knowledge. You forfeit all possible credit and value as a player "arguably the most important aspect of Multi-player" when you make the choice to cheat in anyway. I'm not sure how teleportation and otherwise ordinary features of intended game play got brought into this thread as they hold no relevance.

I am a legitimate player, my character is a multimillionaire and rank 196, with 30 levels and 2 million dollars owed to 'grinding' months ago when I was less adept at making profits more casually, in total I have earned 26 million dollars and banked 6.
