How does one maintain a positive.. or good win-loss race record?

I DO NOT or DID NOT glitch or cheat to get these stats either, i race and i race well, i have a rule that i dont race with less than 4 racers in a race or its not worth my time, i normally have around 5-8 crew members always racing in our many 16 race playlists and we fight for 1st lol.

we do at least 1 to 2 racing playlists every night and many more on weekends all consisting of 16 races and are in the region of an hour to an hour and a half long, you will get better, ive seen guys in our crew who were absolutely shocking who now race damn well.

BS! You win every other race and your 5 friends just keep coming back for more? BS! Stop farming races and join a public lobby!

Since we're on the subject of ramming, PITs & racing in general, thought I'd post this here lol

not to be a dick but you send him a message saying

"only cheaters ram"

then say

"i rammed you in retaliation"

ergo. you rammed = your a cheater ..... thats by your own standards...

least if your gonna flame someone do it right, airtight... don't leave your self open to such faux pas by undermining your own point...

secondly clean racers dont retaliate like that... they retaliate by winning the race properly... and not caring if they lose because someone "cheated"..... no-ones proud of your retaliation and neither should you be... or for rage quitting because some 12 year old felt the need to stroke his e-peen by ramming you...

seriously if you want to set an example, dont start off by being a douche yourself.... it really doesnt make you look good..

also why is it that i only ever notice xbox players sending each other random message like this and trying to start bitchfights with each other.... seriously i have 80+ friends on psn, race regularly with a crew of 160 and mess about in open sessions... ive NEVER got a message off some random like this...

You don't, my record is like 87 and 250+ loses or something. I really don't care much about racing because I believe it's broken in GTA 5. But I'm pretty sure In a 1 vs 1 race against some of the pitters and rammers I played with catchup off I would win.

Only race on tracks that you are confident racing on and with a car class that you have a custom vehicle in. And don't be as generous as I was and give two of your friends all the performance modifications by having your friends win 50 times each

Some people I race with say I'm a pretty good racer.

Also, full lobby races you'd be pretty lucky to get a top 3 finish because of the constant crashing. I wouldn't worry to much about it though, first starting out you're going to lose because you have no unlocked mods so that will skew your stats the wrong way. Just familiarize yourself with the tracks and be a smart racer and know when to overtake and when to wait (slipstream on)

Having a positive record is hard just because of the "if you're not first, you're last" W/L system but it's possible - fully mod your cars and choose those you're best at driving (not always the fastest), race courses with a lot of turns and use your brakes - you'll beat 90% of other players that way. Hold back at the start if need be and let others wipe each other out, always be aware of pit manoeuvres, learn racing lines and take them wide if someone's up your exhaust because when you dab the brakes you'll get rammed off the track otherwise. I'm at around 270W/230L at the moment just doing those things.

Currently looking at the RGSC & my win-loss record is 48-89. For some reason, inside, I'm frustrated because most of the races I partake in involves the PIT maneuver which results me in coming almost last, if I'm lucky, 3rd. I know it's a game but how do you prevent the PIT so you have a positive (more wins than losses) record?

Use the PIT maneuver yourself. It's EQUAL playing field when racing. I hate when people cry about the racing on GTA (not that you're crying about it)... but other people cry about it.

OP has decent record, but numbers don't mean much here as others have said.

Practice and race on a variety of tracks -- only way to get better.

Buy a vehicle for a class people don't have a car for (like the Sadler in the utilities class) and fully upgrade it. Host a race for the vehicle class and turn turn catchup and slipstream off... avoid the rammers which are most likely in stock vehicles, :D , hopefully win.

I mention the utility class because I doubt people will have a sadler. You could try with other classes that people don't race in.

If you are serious about getting your ratio up have it on super and before you start switch it to the class you want then start the race because most people don't like racing in anything other than super, off road or sports.

I have 240 or so wins and around 200 losses, and I thought that was a bad ratio personally. If you playing racing games that arent arcade pieces of crap then you shouldnt have trouble winning. Im working to get 600 wins 300 losses :D

I honestly couldn't care less about my win/loss ratio...which is the same way I feel about a kill/death ratio. I'm 124/286, and I don't need to stroke my ePenis to feel good about myself. The people in this thread who keep saying "just be better" are the same nimrods that can't win without running you off the road or pit-maneuvering you near the finish line.

I race because it's fun, but I'll admit that racing has become far less appealing ever since they drastically reduced the prize money.

Yes, there are many ways to artificially inflate your win/loss record, but I'll assume that you want to improve it legitimately.

First of all, use your brakes when approaching a turn. Just by pressing the left trigger, you will beat 90% of GTA Online racers. Why? Because many of them try to take a turn too fast, or they try to slow down by ramming into other cars.

Give the other racers space. Try to avoid all contact if possible. By keeping your distance from your fellow racers, you won't get caught in any pile-up that happen, and I promise you that they will happen very often. It also allows you to anticipate a PIT attempt better.

Know when to pass. If you're on a section of track where there's room for only one car at a time, what will happen if you try to make a move? You would most likely end up hitting a wall or obstacle or get rammed by the other racer. Similarly, don't pass when two racers ahead of you are ramming into each other, or you run the risk of getting caught in their mess as well.

Find the car that fits your driving style. I was able to have a high win rate with the Surano because the car's driving style matched my driving style. What do you want in a car? Do you want something light and drifty? Or do you want a vehicle that can nail those corners with high grip?

My record is 500 wins and 296 losses for those wondering.

Sir Michael

Find certain races you're good at (planes, motorcycles, boats, etc).

For me, I excel at flying and motorcycle races, but nobody does them so I'm forced to do super car races almost all the time!

Ohh well, I'm sitting on a 377-373 record right now. I don't play with friends that much and my only crew member (real life best friend) doesn't play GTA anymore because of the Bad Sport counter glitch. I refuse to trade wins, even if it's for somebody unlocking car parts. Gotta earn those yourself mate. ;D

this only happened recently, before i was on 150 wins and 180 losses and have been on dedicated winning streaks and my wins have overtook my losses :D getting really good at racing and my losses barely move now lol

Make a second character you don't care about win-loss record. Then to get the parts and stuff, use the sh*tty character to trade wins with your friends. Then when it's your turn, have him use his sh*tty character that way the losses don't count towards your real character.

EDIT: I think.. Unless the win/lose stats count toward both your characters combined

You need to learn to counter the pit maneuver. Get some friends and keep doing it to each other. Eventually you will learnt that you can stop them from occurring pretty easily.

Seems to be working pretty well for me.

I'd just stick with a crew that only races clean. Once you start being able to race great against them, going against the noobies in random lobbies is a piece of cake. Also, be selective about the jobs you join if its a race. If they have slipstream on and catchup on, I suggest leaving. If they are off I'd go for it.

Psh, that streak is chump-change :p But that's also a good suggestion, just learn how to either block them from getting ahead of you or learn to bite back when they start playing dirty. Also, it's pretty much a must that you should fully max your performance for every car you own if you want to win.
