How does one maintain a positive.. or good win-loss race record?

I was in a race that was set to Sports, everyone had Feltzers, I was the only one above level 110+. At the lobby screen where you bet on players, they had records of 21/102, 59/67 or 77/23. I thought this race would be fair since we use the same cars & would have similar mods.. The guy with 21/37 ends up winning by a long way & I almost DNF with all mods purchased & installed.

Damn you're a really bad racer... I'm 304/292 wins/losses and the trick is to use the best vehicles and avoid interaction with other racers in the lobby. Use the feltzer and entity.

You can't say hes a bad racer off one race. Maybe the other took him out and the guy who won just made it through. We all have bad races.

if you do races with say 10 people then having a more wins than losses is not going to be easy.

Most people that have more wins than losses race on there own, or create a race and then invite people to race it so its easy to win.

This. I did nothing but race for the first couple of months of the game against randoms and my record is ~120 wins/180 losses. I'd like to think this is a decent record, considering that I raced many, many tracks with a large number of random people. Against 6 others players, the likelihood of your winning any race is obviously 1/6 (+/-). Anything but first place is a loss, and in a 6-person race there are 5 losses handed out for every single win.

1. race with your friends and outlaw any contact ("Don't touch me there" Tubes Racing)

Thats called real racing. You're not supposed to wipe players.

I myself am better at dirty racing. I mean, id rather race clean but im just better in the dirty dirty. Simply because, when I don't care about what happens to the 'other guy' i just go much faster and plow through them if they get in my way.

I have 126 wins & 88 losses.

Sometimes i don't give my 100%, when i am tired, or playing with friends, or both. I often end up 2nd, or 3rd then. Sometimes i have bad luck, and sometimes people are just better & faster than me. Without bad luck, and playing not on 100%, i would have about 20-30 losses turned to wins.

151 wins & 63 losses as example. But well, in the end i don't really care about the statistics, as long as its positive, i have fun & make my dollars.

Learn the tracks, learn when to brake, learn to hit apex, learn when to accelerate.

I can honestly say I have always tried to race as clean as possible and I almost always join random races and never have I quit during a race if I know I'm not going to win which I have noticed is common amongst some people with 'good' race stats.

But I do quit before the race starts if I randomly joins Criminal Records, Jumps x3 and sh*tty tracks like that. A race should have corners.

I'm a bit upset that I did not reach 500 wins before 300 losses, but could be a lot worse. :)

I always use cars that have superior traction, in this case, the Feltzer & Entity if it has a reasonable amount of turns. For the races with straights (user created drag races), I use my Infernus & Carbonizzare

If you have left even one race early, your record is NOT legit.

Figured I'd toss that out there as truth, coming from someone with a legit winning record(600-425 over two accounts), and someone who's never left a race early.

Truth hurts, but it's still truth. Quitters belong in Bad Sport, not on a forum bragging about their "fixed" racing record. Jus sayin.

Honesty is the best policy(and many people just aren't being honest with themselves, quitting early, yet pretending it never happened)... If you get defensive about this fact, then i have you pinned as a quitter.

1. Use the farthest camera angle

2. Keep your composure during intense moments

3. Shift the camera angle when you go around turns so you have the best view possible

4. Use a fast, yet good gripping car; Super: Entity, Sports: Elegy/Feltzer...

5. Never get too close to someones car when unsure of their motives

6. Use ramming as a final option so karma won't get you

7. If you think someone will spin you out, SLAM on the brakes and watch him fly off the cliff

8. Hit the speed boost at GO!

9. USE THE DAMN BRAKES!

10. Play with a friend who can help you out

11. (Optional) Turn off music so you can hear what's going on behind you.

12. Cut corners when you can

13. Get familiar with the most raced tracks.

Every time I make a track I go easy on people and let them get the win if it is their first time on my track. The real scumbags make tracks and invite randoms so they can stroke their own win loss record. I was somewhere around 400 wins and 400 losses before I started giving people a chance to win the first time they try my tracks. I also let my crew get a ton of wins. The race record doesn't matter at all... To anybody except yourself. All that matters is the next race you WANT to win. My race record is somewhere around 550 wins and 950 losses right now and if you think I am a sh*t racer I accept a race challenge anytime I'm on... Unless you are a sh*tty person and try to wreck people for wins. GT- JohnTaper on xbox.

I'm 5 - 36. I just give up. I think it's bullsh*t you have to win 7 or more to upgrade.

Too bad these racers don't have to wait until every car finishes. I'd make it a point take 3 hour to finish when they intentionally wipe me out gaining the lead .

I was just in a race where I was leading & at the last minute I was rammed into a freeway barrier making me last, rage quit the race moments before the end. I just didn't know what to say...

sometimes it's not the best idea to be the leader of the pack cause of the catch-up and slipstreaming..

I slipstream ppl til the first few corners of the race.. usually the other racers PIT each other or knock each other off course, that's the best time to take advantage and create that distance between you and the others.

-hug inside corners

-don't race too aggressively(usually the aggressive drivers fck themselves over by trying to PIT everyone in sight)

-slipstreaming right behind 1st place will put pressure on the leader and usually they fck up

I have a decent record, something like 142-75

It would have been nice if they added a DQ for that stat in the social club recesses...not necessarily front page but somewhere you could dig to it in the stats page. It would include races you quit by phone, races you were kicked out of, races that disconnected you etc. Also would love to see a DNF stat.

Seriously man? It's too much trouble to win 7 freaking races? SMH

I'm really pretty speechless at the fail of this.

I usually let people slipstream me. If they're slipstreaming me, they're behind me. If they get a boost and go in front of me, I can slipstream them. Swerving all over the place is just going to slow you both down. Now obviously I don't want them to slipstream me near the finish line, but that's it really.

I'll always slipstream other players until the end where I overtake. If you race dirty, I'll race dirty. PIT me, I'll PIT you moments before the finish. Just to make it fair. I'm normally a clean racer.

I like to give the other racers space. This includes staying back when the race starts so that everyone ahead will take each other out.

In my experience, when I gave my opponents space, they were less likely to ram me, and I could anticipate their attacks better.

416-276 win-loss record here.

OP honestly your record isn't that bad, I did an air race with a guy the other night his record was like 25 wins and 471 losses.

i totally agree. my record sits somewhere around 200/600 which pans out to winning around a 25% of my races... and the majority of the reg racers i played with have similar records ill see guys with 300 wins 1050 losses ect...

i honestly feel if your getting a high win ratio your not playing tough enough races, or your hand picking races with only noobs or small crowds with 1-4 opponents. when your playing against 12- 16 people and good players often i dont see any way that you can maintain some sick ass ratio because it becomes more of a dice roll for first place.

your not going to know your real ratio until you play 600-1000 races and if your not picking your competition...

I have a 13-26 record, I just started getting into the racing. I'd say close to 20 of those losses were 2nd place finishes.

I drive very clean, the only time I intentionally PIT/dump someone is if they do it to me first. I give others room to run because I feel it makes the racing much more fun while racing side to side battling it out.

Since we're on the subject of ramming, PITs & racing in general, thought I'd post this here lol

Currently looking at the RGSC & my win-loss record is 48-89. For some reason, inside, I'm frustrated because most of the races I partake in involves the PIT maneuver which results me in coming almost last, if I'm lucky, 3rd. I know it's a game but how do you prevent the PIT so you have a positive (more wins than losses) record?

It takes practice, and there are a few tweaks too like turbo starting, i never miss a turbo start and gain the lead quick, slipstreaming helps alot too and with practice you can master it, not turning hard, turn ever so slightly as to not lose power while turning. there are many things you can do, also stay away or watch out for the bumper car players, but most of all simply practice and knowing a course.

my 1st account before i got hacked and banned i was or am sitting on 137 wins and 90 losses but was still learning. see link for proof.

http://socialclub.rockstargames.com/games/gtav/career/overview/gtaonline

now with my 2nd account i am sitting happy on 600 wind and 319 losses, and many of these i helped fellow low level friends win for the cash or mod unlocks, i would say i have thrown close to 100 races. see link for proof

http://socialclub.rockstargames.com/games/gtav/career/overview/gtaonline

I DO NOT or DID NOT glitch or cheat to get these stats either, i race and i race well, i have a rule that i dont race with less than 4 racers in a race or its not worth my time, i normally have around 5-8 crew members always racing in our many 16 race playlists and we fight for 1st lol.

so just keep practicing, if you are on PS3 add me Horndog_SA_79

we do at least 1 to 2 racing playlists every night and many more on weekends all consisting of 16 races and are in the region of an hour to an hour and a half long, you will get better, ive seen guys in our crew who were absolutely shocking who now race damn well.

I really don't think that 'skill' has a big part in winning races I think it's merely 'Luck'.

you're very wrong... this from me and my combined total of around 730 wins to 400 losses...

Couldn't agree more, and if you've won as many races as you've lost I call BS! Your not racing in Public races with that record. Your not racing with 6 + other races. I've raced since day one in only public races and I can tell you if you do 10 races there will be at least 4 different winners. nobody is winning 5 of 10!

Not to mention when you first start racing everyone is kicking your azz cause you've got no mods.

Race how you like. but don't come in here bragging that your 1500 / 4 if your not taking all on all comers in lobbies with randoms!
