How does one maintain a positive.. or good win-loss race record?

Currently looking at the RGSC & my win-loss record is 48-89. For some reason, inside, I'm frustrated because most of the races I partake in involves the PIT maneuver which results me in coming almost last, if I'm lucky, 3rd. I know it's a game but how do you prevent the PIT so you have a positive (more wins than losses) record?

It takes experience and time, and a lot of races. I'm at something like 128/138 or so - but you nearly always start off badly because you can't unlock all the mods without winning races and therefore are usually at a disadvantage until you do...

The only other option is to race friends or only host your own with unmodded cars. Then you have the "If you ain't first you're last" W/L system which is quite stark when you can have 16 people racing. It's just not easy!

By finishing first?

I notice a lot of people neglect to hug inside corners when turning, which can (and usually will) cost a player their lead.

edit: turbo starts (or whatever they're called) can help out a bit too, especially on shorter races.

if you do races with say 10 people then having a more wins than losses is not going to be easy.

Most people that have more wins than losses race on there own, or create a race and then invite people to race it so its easy to win.

1 out of 3 wins in races is good.

Also races like Jumps jumps jumps is to random. You need to do normal races.

my record is 489 to 598.

Oh and join a crew who like to race clean (no spinning). When we race, if we do spin each other out by mistake we wait for the other person.

After you play enough of GTAO, for sure you will be winner...

I unlock most of the mods with racing with my friend at my first charachter. But at my second character I am unlocking everything in real. And I noticed that I am much better in races now because I know the tracks, I now the roads, and I know the cars anymore. Ad I almost unlock everything racing with different people. Now I am working for unlocking to chrome colour. 12 race remain...

Race race race and you will be winner after some time. you are even getting better at GTA races because you learn how to use guns, missiles and turbos...

you really should not give a f*ck about those stats, just have fun racing. as mentioned above, the win/loss system is very harsh. think about the formula one grand prix (RL) i guess none of the drivers has a postive win/loss ratio, but these are the "worlds best drivers"!

the only way to keep a positive wl ratio would be to pick the course and the drivers all the time, but thats cheating to yourself!

I always notice that most of the time the winners use cheap tactics:

1). Ramming.

2). Host abusing: Tune a car to it's max in a catagory like SUVs or Sports Classics, host a popular race, turn 'custom vehicles' 'on' and use your tuned SUV, easy win. Some guy did that, finished almost a minute before the #2.

3). Slipstream abuse. Just slipstream the #2 until close to the finish and then pass him/her, and you got a win.

4). Custom Race abuse. A lot of people seem to make a retarded race no normal person can race normally on their first try. You can do this since you would know the track.

A lot of people seem to do this, or they either get lucky. Racing in GTA V requires 0 skill.

Most of the races I join from the pause menu are Rockstar created races so none of the all over the map races created by 12 year old kidies.

My Infernus, Cheetah & Entity XF have max mods for performance & most of my wins are with the Entity. In races that I win, I start from the back of the pack but now, winning a race is near impossible now.

Impromptu road racing is the best IMO. I either parachute, or do air, or sea races, as far as random lobby races. Very rarely I'll join a random road race lobby bc of the idiots.

Private sessions with friends more than likely, i refuse to believe anybody can have a + record racing the majority in public sessions unless hosting and starting when a couple of other people join, there are just so many bad players and don't get me started on the physics.

This is all IMO before anybody gets all butthurt.

OP honestly your record isn't that bad, I did an air race with a guy the other night his record was like 25 wins and 471 losses.

cute deal with it kitty, I like

OP, your stats are pretty damn good, I wouldn't worry about it at all.

I rarely see people with more wins than losses . Through honest playing its almost not possible. There are some very good drivers out there that may have more wins than losses but for the most part its not gonna happen.

I was racing against a clan recently all with positive W/L. Couldnt work out how that was possible.

They were OK, but anyone can diddle the figures.

Its frustrating only if you care about what other people think. Just checked and mine is probably above average at 250 / 337. I normally just hit 'join race' so im always in lobbies with randoms which doesnt help.

I wouldnt worry about it.

Your record isnt bad at all

I have saw very few people with Positive race records, and 90% of the ones i have saw show a low number of races like a total of less than 60 -70 races, which makes me think that person has had a friend giving them wins to open up the upgrades...I am not saying everyone with a positive record gets it this way

Countering or Preventing the Pit cannot be answered with a single answer, because each car is different and the car doing the pit is different, you will have to try things to see what works best for you ..

Start trying when you see a car that might be getting ready to do the pit is to slow down a bit or just lock the brakes ups for a split second, allowing the other car to move further up on you away from the sweet spot for pit, and you might be able to fall in behind them and give them a love tap on the rear bumper and watch them go spinning ...but again each car is differnt so you will have to learn each cars weakness and strong points

One thing you can do that will discourage a fairly good driver(s) from trying the pit is to host the races yourself, then Turn off Custom Cars and turn off Catch up because with customs off and catch up off if they blow the pit maneuver they lose all hope of catching the leader

Great race record

But racing (land races)by yourself or solo does not count toward your W/L or Upgrades

Racing with a good crew helps to learn the tracks, Our crew likes to race clean also, but the downside to always racing with your crew is. when you are in a random lobby and you are used to doing clean races it can be harder when your playing with people ramming and pitting when you are not accustomed to it..we have one guy in our crew that is the best "clean air racer" i have saw.....but you get him in a group of randoms who pit and ram and he drops to the back of the pack real quick.... to help him and the rest of us, we take a night here and there as a crew with some of us ramming and pitting just to learn the best counters

cheating and or quitting...

Some races just slip out of your hands and if you don't back out, you'll be hit with a loss, sometimes you get pitted.

I don't back out of races....but I do Ram like a mofo if the situation calls for it.

1. Learn to counter PIT. That way you maintain control and they spin and rage. Brake-checking a slip streaming opponent can f*ck them over too.

2. Race friends. You know they are worse that you are.

Happily sitting on 130/20 W/L.

The way you start off in this game with no mods, no knowledge of the track, no idea how to deal with the dirty drivers, no concept of the unique driving physics and put up against higher level, more experienced and cash infused vets a positive win loss ratio is all but impossible unless you do one or more of these things...

A) Race with friends that let you get wins.

B) Always race with only one or two competitors to reduce your odds.

C) Leave any race you are not winning.

D) Race the same track all the time and become an absolute expert on that track.

E) Create your own track with elements in it that will throw others off and give you an easy win.

Honestly though your best move would be to stop caring bud. The stat means absolutely nothing for any purpose. Even the basic "holy sh*t he has over 2000 races" is completely useless as he very well could have run Criminal Records over and over for months. It means he knows how to grind...not race.

Win races. Naturally, the more you race with a lot of people, the worse off you'll be. Only one person can win, so if 8 race, you have seven losses going up on records.

Honestly, races are so hard to win with a lot of people, I'll never care about my record. I just want to unlock stuff and I'll be done with it.

I never understood how people had over double losses to wins. :/

I think if you host you tend to get a better result.

I started a new character and had unlocked all mods by rank 20.

I only usually do 'join race', because I don't have a crew or friends on GTA Online. So my win ratio isn't great - 70/250 or something like that. I'm a decent racer, but always end up coming 2nd/3rd. And half the time I end up off the track because some moron has rammed me off the road for no reason. Still love racing though.

If you consistently race with 5 or more people, theres 1 winner and 4 or more losers. naturally there are always going to be more losses than wins. It's simple math and shouldnt be that hard to grasp.

Nor was my post hard to grasp.

I don't understand how people struggle to win. It's beyond easy to race on this game.

I was talking about a single persons record not the whole lobby.

To have a positive ratio you must:

1) Be talented.

2) stick to challenging tracks, cars and settings. Or simply stay away from moronic tracks and settings.

That is enough.

1. Prepare well before race.

2. Be better.

3. You will improve.

Follow advice to the letter and enjoy GTAO.

However, if you fancy race stats ... you can follow band of sore losers by quitting in the middle of race if you think you won't cut it to the top.

I have seen very few high win ratio players who actually could race solid, so 1/3 ratio is good. If I see player with very bad stats 20/100* who desperate to win, I give up before finish line ... feel like Father Christmas and create good aura too. Most thank me for kind gestures.
