Throwing his girlfriend off the 15th floor balcony for threatening to leave him & wanted to live a life the way she wanted. He pretty much controlled her life until she had enough. This sh*t, controlling someone's life, should be illegal. Now, the prison sentence, 26 years max, 18 years min with parole? Bullsh*t. Should be higher, the Australian justice system is a complete joke. If this was in the United States, UK, Middle East, he would've gotten minimum life sentence. What's your opinion on the prison sentence? No arguments, just keep it calm.
HOW'S ANNIE?
To be honest this is something I couldn't care less for. By the time he's out nobody will remember him, nor does he seem like a major risk to the Australian public. Pyrrhic
What's your opinion on the prison sentence? No arguments, just keep it calm.Unfortunately this is as good as it's going to get in Australia. Can't agree more it's pretty much a joke. This prick should be in for the rest of his life. The interviews with his new girlfriend are hilarious, stupid woman is in denial about the whole thing.
sivispacem
Actually, a life sentence with a minimum term of about 20 years is pretty par for the course in the UK for most murders. You do spend the rest of your life on licence though. This guy had hidden cameras in the walls & monitored her emails, texts & phone calls. Pretty sure this is illegal in some parts od the world. He pretty much moved in from a beautiful model to a whore who's an ex stripper who looks 12 & claims her boyfriend is innocent, lol silly woman. The justice system needs a serious overhaul tbh.
Hodgey.
The UK justice system isnt that much better to be honest. He would of been sentenced to life but would probably get out on parole for good behaviour around the 18 year point. Edited February 11, 2014 by Hodgey. CantThinkOfOne2013
What's your opinion on the prison sentence? No arguments, just keep it calm. It's a joke, some people get a larger sentence for armed robberies with no fatalities , yet in this case, someone dies and the sentence is less? that's the 21st century for you. Max
This sh*t, controlling someone's life, should be illegal. It is. We have some pretty clear laws on slavery, unlawful imprisonment, coercion etc... Mr. House

Black & White
You obliviously have no idea what 18 years in prison means. And what should it mean? He threw his girlfriend off a balcony and killed her intentionally for some lousy excuse. And you have sympathy for him because prison is rough. Yes, prison is rough, but that doesn't give him the right to be released earlier for some brutal and idiotic crime. Relationships finish every single day. He could of simply left her and moved on. I don't see how murdering someone would help. Infact, it will hurt him more now. Now he has to look at the faces of his ex-girlfriend' family. GunWrath
Don't feel too bad, here in the US, he would of probably only got probation. Much like men that commit B&E's or robbery that end up getting injured or hurt in the process have been known to sue the homeowners for such things. WBaker
In America that guy would get as much Justice as he could afford. This bit bugged me from the article: Justice McCallum said that jailing Gittany for life would be excessive, but he has no prospects of rehabilitation. If he can't be rehabilitated... why keep him alive? Edited February 12, 2014 by WBaker
Tacymist
It would be highly excessive. I mean it's not like he killed someone. Right? >.>

Audiophile
The sentence is pretty much par for the course in most of the Commonwealth. Same thing would happen in Canada. Our legal systems all have the same foundation and take from Common Law and the sentences generally come from precedents and judges stick to that when passing sentence. I do agree, it's BS. 18 years is a long time, but not nearly enough for the life he took and what he did to her while she was alive, IMO.
