IV or V

GTAV and GTAO is the best of the series. Yes there are some missing things from old games (like low rider hydraulics etc.) but V is the best...

Too many details to explore and too many selections of vehicles...

You V fanboys are the reason why GTA V is just a San Andreas 2 with better graphics

V's map is no where near as good as San Andreas's map...

V's activities are nowhere near as meaningful or entertaining as San Andreas's activities.

Biohazard Abyss

San Andreas had LS, San Fierro, Las Venturas, wilderness and desert.

Who gives a sh*t about map size. Quality over quantity.

Why the hell is everyone getting so upset over people liking IV more than V?

V's story is complete sh*t. Drunken Cowboy's Identity Crisis Thread can explain it all to you. All 3 stories of GTAIV were better than V's, by themselves, let alone as a whole.

IV's inclusion of friendly free roam made free roam completely different because people weren't just shooting everyone and everything on site. The only thing I enjoy about V's online more, is the missions, ranking system, and character creation.

-Liberty City > V's San Andreas

-GTAIV racing > GTA V racing

-Cops and Crooks

-Friendly free roam

-Better story

-Lobby options to turn cops off

I love how everyone assumes it's nostalgia. God forbid my options differs from yours. IV was a better game, and always will be, IMO.

It is nostalgia because I remember how a very large percentage of people hated IV until V came out and now all of a sudden IV is some holy grail V failed to live up to.

IV has always been my second favorite GTA, my first being Vice City, so at least I'm not loving it out of nostalgia.

I'm sure there are others who feel the same way. Don't generalize everyone.

It's a lose-lose situation.

If you prefer IV, you're just being nostalgic.

If you prefer V, you're a fan boy.

Neither are really true.

I f*cking love gta 4, definitely one of the best in the series

lot of people didn't like it, but a lot of people did like it

you can't assume any1 who says they like gta 4 hated it when it first came out just because you and a bunch of other people did.

I'd have to say gta 5 is better in a lot of ways but there's some stuff I wish carried over from gta 4

the vehicle handling while not being perfect was awesome in gta 4 and while gta 5 improved on it I kind of feel it did so in a bad way

they completely ditched the physical feel gta 4 had and went with a more arcadish handling on the cars

it fixed the problem gta 4 had with car handling but I wish they would have just perfected it instead of throwing it out the window like they did.

and that's just one example

Try playing IV's online now, i give you 5 seconds or less before you quit.

I played it for a couple of hours the other day.

To be fair V is the first online game I ever spent any real time on so I can't judge IV but as far as SP while I like both I think V edges it out. Gameplay will always come before story. SA had the most absurd story in the series and it is considered by a large percentage of people to be the best.

I just know that people these days are obsessed with nostalgia and back in the days always seems to be better.

I know right? I played it for a few hours last week with a buddy and had a blast. Even encountered friendly players online and went stuntin around the city on motorcycles.

I prefer IV. Just my opinion. Dunno why all the V fanboys are flippin out hearing that someone actually has a different opinion then them.

The driving physics alone make it a better game for me.

I just liked the way layout of IV as you could always find a game where as V is just like RDR, it's a ghost town because everyone is busy doing other things. I proffered IV because we had nothing to lose and nobody cared if they were killed unlike V where they practically send death threats for losing something.

Biohazard, there is no quality when all of the cities are just poorly done blocks. That is not quality, that is quantity. Hell even GTA III's liberty city had more detail than that.

OT:

V, you wanna know why? Because IV's multiplayer had this cool stuff like turning off cops and friendly fire, but then again what was there to actually do appart from getting killed by a bunch of assholes who turn on godmode and start spawkilling everyone with an Annihilator? When I first joined a freeroam session there was this guy who bombed everyone in TBOGT, no mercy then the poor coward hid underneath some glitched rocks and started killing everyone who got near him!

Where is the fun in a vehicle that does 180 spins automaticly and handles like a f*cking a boat all the time? Drifting is kinda fun but then again its so freaking hard as hell..

Also I dont understand the hype for a cliché storyline...

I agree with this. I seriously don't understand why it is more fun for a car to be harder to control.

I think you guys are missing what people actually liked about gta 4's handling

it's not the fact that cars were hard to control that was awesome that was just a side effect from the driving physics

it's the physical feel I thought was awesome in gta 4, every turn bump or crash just felt and looked really awesome and physical

like I said before it was far from perfect because ultimately it led to cars being pretty unstable and really hard to control

but still I think there's something to be said for the more realistic approach gta 4 had when it came to cars and I'm kind of dissapointed they basically just threw it out the window entirely for gta 5

should have kept the strengths and just adress the weaknesses of the car physics instead of just simplifying it to the point where you can stop a speeding super car in on a dime.

I like GTA 4 better. The map felt so complete, you had your classy and your ratchet. I can relate to the liberty city map more because its almost identical to the actual place, NY where I come from. It never feels old to drive around in Gta 4. Gta 5 i got bored of it real fast. I liked SA because of San Fiero, it seems like in V all they did was blow up LS and added mountains. Yeah V has better multiplayer and looks better and the 3 character story line was a good concept, the story line was boring.

GTA SA map will forever be better. It may be physically smaller, but it feels much larger because of the variety.

It's a shame cause i have so much friends who still play IV but the game is poor compared to V driving is rubbish graphics are rubbish and i just can't adjust to it now. There is no fun in a player killing you then respawning you over and over at least on V the game is pure skill.

You have no idea what you are talking about. The only thing you are right about is IV's driving is bad compared to V. V takes no skill what so ever, I played both competitively, and in V you have tanks and jets and auto shotties, and you spawn with all your weapons. Overall V is just a bad game. I would say it is good, but it took them four years to make it. That is ridiculous. And with multiplayer, it is sad that they are making it so you need to pay them more money to get in game money. And what really pissed me off is that a modder gave me a billion dollars and rockstar banned me for 6 months. That is complete bullsh*t. I had to pay for a new Microsoft account and level my guy back up which will take weeks of playing the game to get to. I could go on forever.

wait so you think gtaO sucks, so after getting banned you went and purchased a new Microsoft account so you could play a ton more leveling your character up... I think you just set the record for dumbest post on this forum. You got on a short bus and were the dumbest person to ever set foot in it.

Both GTA V and IV have online but which in your opinion is better?

I preferred IV's just because it was a lot easy to access and use.

Thats the main thing...in IV we were so used to one loading screen...essentially just the lobby screen...in V we have like 3-4 before the actual launch of the mission/DM.

While V is a better overall experience, IV multi-player was just friendlier when it came to getting where you wanted to go.

The QUICK JOBS menu sucks in V....because it seems to send me to Prison Thugz Fight six times a session, its ridiculous and if you walk into the DM icon you want...99% of the time, im the only one in there having to send INVITES to the entire list of players in session.

Swear all you would be complaining that GTA V is trash if it was a barebones GTA IV copy.

It's called adavancement, stop being lazy.

Quick-jobs is annoying but that's avoidable as well.

No bro, i never said it was trash, i wouldnt say that, i defend the game except for the Quick Job option in V that seems to send me to melee crap maps while it wasnt like that in IV.....i enjoy V because i have so much still to do and im a Rank 106....for example ihavent flown a Fighter Jet and i know im going to f*cking love it.

I defend the game from the "Heist" princesses, just look up my post history.

This. I couldn't agree more. It seems much bigger than V Map. Same with RDR.

The way I see it is, as follows:

Quality/Attention to Detail: V's map is better, without a shadow of doubt. IV set a high standard; V surpassed it in every single way. Well, with the exception of interiors for take aways and stuff not being present. Chiliad I find myself 50/50 over; it definitely looks more realistic (and I've spent roughly half the amount of time I spent with GTAIV's online overall hanging out there) but something feels like it is.. missing. Can't really explain that, hah.

Diversity: By virtue of having three pretty distinct cities and environs, San Andreas probably takes the cake. Between V and IV though, objectively V is more diverse.

Size: I can't speak to which is actually larger in terms of SQM, and literally every comparison I've seen was poorly done. San Andreas definitely felt bigger. RDR felt bigger, but the map was more bland. L.A. Noire's map was huge and felt bigger than any of these, but who honestly didn't resort to fast travel for a lot of missions after the novelty of the map wore off?

Annnnd, some people prefer the concrete jungle of GTA IV, others don't. That aesthetic is ultimately going to play a part. I don't mind it, to be honest, but I can't play around in that environment for too long as it wears thin.
