IV or V

IV had better loading music.. and the GPS navigation which talked... and somewhat "classic" controls - at least you could switch to that half-ass "classic" control scheme..

However, about he online - V has online.. IV didn't - not really... yeah you could connect to it but as other have stated.. nothing to do.. Nothing but troll... but since it seems the majority here love grief and only grief, Its no surprise that IV is what you'd chose.

BOTH online versions are pretty uninspired, but at least V has something to do (missions). The promise of heists sounds interesting, even if they're limited (which, you know they will be).

I think you'll have about 80% more fun in V if, for nothing else, the sheer number of people around... though I've found playing with strangers is the least fun thing about this game if you're NOT in a LTS or Deathmatch... or motorcycle race (because it's much harder to PIT or get PITed on motorcycles).

If IV is better why play V?

To see if it was good. Alas, I blame the hype for my disappointment, or the evil man that made the trailers.

I remember then the first gameplay leaked, i was about to cancel my pre-order. Good thing i only had to pay 30 dollar for this game because i won some PSN cash cards. This game is nothing but a high budget Saints Row imo. It does not feel like GTA imo.In the end I bought it because of its name. If it didn't have the name of one of the most loved game series I doubt the reviews would be the same.... I hope Rockstar returns to its roots.

Oh boy it's Hitman: Absolution all-over again...

Great.

Dumbest thing I've heard from you in a while.

I'm a huge Resident Evil fan, and Resident Evil 2 is my favorite one, but doesn't mean I'm not going to enjoy the new ones. Some idiots on this forum, I swear.

Same here. RE2 will always be the best RE game and best SH imo. The atmosphere, the zombies, the background sounds. Love that game.

True, If next gta seems to be as arcade ish and bullsh*t ish glitchcrap as GTA V is, i'm not gonna buy it. Singplayer was nothing but an on-rail scripted heist thing. There was nothing fun about it.. stunting around with cars doesn't feel like its any good because of the PSX gen physics. And now there is R* that is ruining what was left of GTA online.

This threads giving me deja vu, and I haven't been on these forums very long.

I think I'll be on my way now.

Oh and V

because I like GTAO.

IV though, rich narrative, such a sick story...the words: Russian Mafia put the entire 'bank robbing misfits' concept to shame imo; and there's many aspects of driving that I prefer in IV...also the dlc..very Cool..parallel stories..I doubt V will have much of that, but I am still pumped to see where they will go with it.

If heists are anything like SP heists, i'm not even gonna bother playing them more then once. Its gonna be a tard fest anyway with douchebags who will ruin missions, leave mid mission, drive over team mates asap as they arive at the getaway car ect.

They should just add a friendly fire off lobby, add some cars WORTH trying and not the ugly pos cars that game with the beach bum pack.

They could save it, but that'd mean reshaping most of Online and of course that would bring a lot of complaints (Who knows why). It would also cost money, something Rockstar isn't big on. It's like they said: "We will spend millions on making the game then abandon it."

I don't get why everyone on this forum likes IV so much. Not counting the birds-eye view ones, in my opinion it was the worst GTA to date. Don't get me wrong it wasn't bad at all, but definitely not as good as the rest.

Originally I was going to say 'IV', but then I realized.. V beats IV in every way possible, anyone who does say 'IV' probably has nostalgia goggles on or something lol. I have a lot of good memories with IV, but we're not going to be getting that back with modders ..I guess the same goes with Red Dead haha.

This is GTA's evolution. GTA 3 = GTA Vice City = GTA San Andreas = GTA IV = GTA V = GTA SAN ANDREAS (with a little bit of IV mixed, just so we won't piss off the 9 year olds)

I dno

imo it's hard to call

both have things going for them

and both have downsides

on the one hand I liked the accesability of gta 4

no need to unlock anything just jump in and play the game

but the game was a bit limited in some regards

now we have a sh*t load of missions and free roam activities but with the whole persistent second life BS it kind of takes some of the fun out

I also feel it gives you a lot more (too much) control in any given situation which kind of rules out some of the awesome emergent game moments gta 4 had

I Always have all the best weapons equipped and don't leave the house unless i'm in a fully armored super car or something

it just doesn't feel as special to have an RPG or a cool car

all in all I'd have to say the online is vastly improved content wise but it somehow feels a bit bland compared to gta 4

could just be the novelty wore off or something though, I dno

One word - variety

In vehicles, weapons, environment, customisation, game modes, characters, content creator, f*cking everything lol. With all its flaws GTA online is pretty much objectively better. Only ignorance or deluded, nostalgia driven hipsterism would make people think otherwise.
Stunt jumps at the airport? Please... Give me stunt jumps all over Mt Chilliad, Blaine County, the Grand Senora etc etc anyday over that dull limited crap. Its no wonder it just became a modders playhouse.
Just a small tip of the iceberg of reasons why V is better.
Maybe a stronger storyline and soundtrack in IV? Doesn't have much bearing with online though

Nice, telling people to kill themselves because their opinion is different from your own.

OT: I liked IV's atmosphere better. I find myself struggling to become immersed in GTA V at times. The night time cycle though is spectacular. Other than that the game is really bright and jagged.

I also liked Niko and his story. I would say IV has had the best story of the series so far. It feels so real and grips you. I feel like Rockstar went wrong with Michael, Franklin, and Trevor in GTA V. The idea of playing 3 characters during missions seems cool, but I just wasn't that impressed when it actually happened. I like to have one character that I can become attached to, and in V you don't play as one of them long enough to care about them. I often found myself in the later cutscenes wanting Michael and Trevor to get killed because they would constantly bitch back and forth and that was the whole scene... them yelling.

So in other words, take GTA V, throw some damn anti aliasing in there, trash the characters, bring in Niko or another scarred protagonist, and then let us watch their gradual rise to wealth in SA.

This thread is incredible, ive never seen so much contradictory comments in my life, 2 people especially in this thread need to sort them selves out really.. their is just much to quote from a couple of "members" in this thread...

im all for everyone having their point of view but dear god....

if you think 4 was better grate.... all power to ya, but to then turn round and say you play 5 because you want to lvl up is soooooooo retarded its not even funny..

anyway ill move on before I flip my lid..

4 was without doubt way more accessible but come on guys really what was their? Gta 4 MP was thrown in it wasnt a real feature per say...

It amazes me that people look on the airport as a "fond memory" yea I had some laughs their but jesus, unless you were a running mods (invincibility anyone) it was pure torture, loads of kids running around modded up to the eye balls rpg'ing constantly...

if you found a somewhat more mature server it was still confined to the AP and a race to the choppers, straff the players racing around in circle's on the runway, snipe from the hangers..

a whole map went to waste, a FULL Feckng map!.. you look at 5 and i think its thx to R★ that all of the map gets used online, gta:o is far much richer I every department...

races were good in 4 ill say that but as a whole there really is no contest..

best part of 4 was the swingset glitch, that was fun for about 15 mins!!

Speak for yourself.

I found Niko and his story about as compelling as watching paint dry. It's the only GTA game that I haven't replayed, nor have any interest in replaying (I haven't replayed GTA V's story but I know I will at some point in the distant future).

But you know what they say.. personal preferences and all that. If Niko and Liberty City float your boat, then more power to you.
