PED cars interference question?

Call me paranoid but does it seem like every time im doing a mission and this is seems to be happening since gta sa but everytime im doing a mission the ped cars always go slower, suddenly stop in front of you for no reason at all and always always turn as slow as they possibly can and its just annoying as hell i think R* did this on purpose just to screw with us lol does anyone else acknowledge this?

I have the same feeling too, i get so annoyed thinking about npcs that are programmed to ruin ur mission or your car and when you hit them they are like : f*ck YOU...

 

I use all my sticky bombs on their car and i go apesh*t on them

I would like to know if this is true, I have noticed it but it could just be because it's more frustrating when you're doing a mission.

Yea it's done on purpose. I noticed that in GTA IV, also the cars make a silly turn just as soon as you pass them by which gets really annoying....

100% true. NPC's are scripted to interfere. Especially when you have a known objective. They adjust to your speed, know which lane your in and where your going. Turning in front of you, crossing road throufh red lights, changing lanes, etc. If you don't believe it is possible just look at the police that are chasing you or the guy in the sentinal that wants to run you over just for existing. Just cruise on the freeway in a blista then do the same in an adder and watch the differences in the traffic. It is evenmore focused in a race.

The lane changes in GTA 4 were horrible. Everytime you're screaming through the highway you could almost be guarenteed someone would swipe you changing lanes. They fixed that at least.

Yea that too forgot the mention the npcs running you over for no reason killing you and causing you the mission.

They run a check on your velocity. If you're above "X" velocity the probability of a lane change by an NPC increases by "Y" %.

 

I bet if you were to fly along just above a road in a jet you'd see nothing but lane changes.

I don't think that the cars deliberately get in your way, I think it is just a result of the games engine and how it populates the world. The cars don't exist when you aren't around to see them, they spawn at a certain distance but don't exhibit any distinctive behavior aside from driving in a straight line, once you get closer the AI scripts start to kick in. So when you are flying down the highway the car that's just a essentially a piece of scenery becomes "active" when you get close and starts to do things like switch lanes or make turns.

Oh yeah when enemies do it it's pretty bad but sort of understandable. But sometimes I'll be driving and an NPC car will spawn right in front of me leaving me no time to react at all. I think the enemies leave you some time to react but they appear on the radar very late. On some missions when they don't spawn infinitely (like Stocks and Scares), before I make my getaway I'll drive for a bit to get them to spawn, then get out of the car and deal with them. There's like 4 of those big SUV's that spawn on that mission.

^ Yep same in Chemical Extraction, park at the gate and pull out the minigun. :D

 

On topic, the ped driving scripts on races is brainless, cars constantly U turn and make abrupt left turns, waaaay more than in normal traffic like free roam and missions.

Without doubt it's been programmed that way.

Just like the parked cars on GTA IV were placed in deliberate places when racing to stop corner cutting.

Its worse when you are in a tank. rockstar must think that everyone are idiots who will play chicken with a freaking tank.

 

Clearly another indicator that they know how to make a great city, but the small details are lost on them.

As far as I can tell, those actions accurately portray the average California driver... they're Nucking futs out here in this liberal wasteland of ineptitude...

I know your pain, the AI drivers are awful at any time they stop in the middle of intersections, ive had cars turn right in front of me in straight lanes. Ive noticed on missions though the opposite where the peds are fleeing and just go really fast,dont stop at lights or anything. They just go full speed and swerve everywhere and thats far form areas where guns are being shot.
