Heavy Sniper toned down?

Hi guys/girls,



Avid GTA Online player (from South Africa) here. My first post on the forum (been a reader for a couple of months).


Just an observation more than anything else.



Regarding the heavy sniper rifle. It feels like both the effective range and/or power have been toned down? A while back I could take down buzzards/jets/random choppers from on top of the Maze Bank building with them being halfway across the city. Now it seems I am hitting nothing but air?



Also, the rendering range seems to be a lot shorter as well. You have to be within what seems like about a 1-2 block radius to see anyone render on screen (this is with you situated on ground level).



Anyone else having similar experiences?

Might be. South Africa is not known for its super fast internet speeds. Countless times I have been involved with double kills, with me killing the other player and getting killed at the same time. Even sniping someone for them to run a couple of meters and then drop dead (looks cool though...LOL).


I've been wanting to know, is there a vast difference between the two snipers?

 

Heavy sniper is usually a one-hit kill anywhere on the body. Also able to penetrate through armor (like tanks...killing the driver with a well-placed shot)

Bad lag most likely, I just got done with a sniping session about 30 min ago, but one guy it took 3 rounds to take him down, mind you these were chest shots. 99% of the time it's a 1 shot deal.

P.S.The saying directly translated to English means: "A silent mouth is a whole mouth"...basically meaning: keeping quite keeps you out of trouble.

Hahaha, We have will have to wait and see. Having to replace Jacques Kallis with basically 2 players is going to be tough...(Frontline bowler and bastman...)

 

Sorry, back to topic (having a Wallabie and Springbok on the same thread will always bring some friendly rivalry).

Pff please, SA always come first over Australia to me... Kallis was someone i used to like quite a bit, we don't have anyone like him.

Australia showed that they meant business by humiliating the Pommies. I think it should be a close series. My money is on 1-1 over the 3 tests.

One of the best players I have ever seen play the game, nothing phased that dude. But on topic lag f*cks me up a bit with the heavy sniper but sometimes works out in my favour, I have pulled off some crazy shots with people driving/ riding bikes that I probably shouldn't have.

His nickname in South Africa was "The Rock". Nothing seemed to get under his skin. He would just go out and bat for 2 days...

 

But yes, Lag is very annoying. Especially when you have cars / players teleporting across the map...

Is there anything worse than hitting a guy in the tank, red dot -> nothing. Again -> nothing.. Once more -> nothing.. and finally you win :D

 

Absolute worst!!! Snipe some fool and you know you've hit him inside his armored coffin...and then nothing....

I just started using the Heavy Sniper so i wouldnt know the difference.

I think it is lag related...was in a session last night with 2 crew members and 4 randoms and had minimal lag. Took down the randoms with ease. One shot every time. For some reason, even my rendering distance was a lot better than it usually is.

 

The only thing I did differently was move my wi-fi router to another location (closer to my PS3) and purchased an external antenna for it. Much faster connection speeds now.

To those of you that have unlocked the Heavy Sniper is it situational? Do you ever use the other? If you drop the smaller one does it appear back after changing sessions?

 

I hate having the weapon wheel all clogged up as i can't seem to drop anything, i'm hoping it fixes this tomorrow.

I don't bother with the other one at all, i'm not sure why i haven't dropped it actually but yeah i only use the big boy.

 

Considering i only have 1 pistol, 1 smg/1 MG and one rifle, none of the others in that group have come back...sniper shouldn't be any different.

Dropped the weaker one as it becomes useless unless you want a silencer.
