gtaocicat
You know full well that a Buzzard can easily be taken down by small arms fire so you're claim of cowardice is bogus to say the least. And, I've seen Tanks survive an onslaught of players so there is no comparison there either. However, I do get even when sniped by placing a bounty on the sniper and watch as he/she either runs home or leaves the session calling people cowards because they use a sniper is cowardice of you as well and calling bounties on people who shot you might as well call bounties on everybody that has killed you wether sniper hit or not hell if they enable to place hits on npcs order hits on them too why not Snipers remind me of hunters who spend thousands of dollars on camouflage clothing, guns, and silencers, and hide behind an elaborately built hut with a hole in it for the rifle barrel. Then they get their jollies when a duck lands in a pond they were next too and blow it into a million pieces. Snipers are cowards who are afraid of actual combat. Hopefully R* sees the unfairness of this weapon that picks off people from a "safe" distance. Snipers are soldiers who sometimes go behind enemy solo or in small numbers putting themselves in harms way. Not the actions of a coward. If you truly believe your own post then your a miss guided fool. The sniper rifle in the context of a video game that has tanks and choppers is an excellent idea. yeah daisy try telling that to a veteran on how sniper rifles are for cowards i bet you will get your soul punched the f*ck out for saying such thing the only people that i think are cowards for using snipers are the ones who switch to it in the middle of a gun fight . if he manages to kill he aint the dude on the other end of tha barrel got executed like a coward vice versa in a worse case scenario he dies i cant figure out what you are trying to say there .... daisymollie
Some of you are confused between real war and a game. In a real war a good sniper is your friend who can keep you from getting killed. It's use is beneficial and not cowardly so stop with the veteran comments. In GTAO the sniper is an annoyance. Repeatedly getting killed by someone who hides on top of a building rather than confronting you is cowardly. I can be in a shootout with a group of players then get picked off by someone "miles" away that wasn't in the shootout, couldn't be seen, and difficult to defend from. And.... since I fly a Buzzard, don't compare the two. I can get shot down by anyone in the shootout. Daisy

B Dawg
Snipers are not cowards. If they are, so are the damn Buzzard pilots and Tank Drivers. They're the ones in the big powerful vehicles hiding behind armor and rockets/cannons. Snipers should be able to take those pussies out. MNTLspazzm
@Daisy I understand your point about the safety of distance but I wouldn't label it cowardice or an annoyance. The way I look at is a different type of threat. A different situation to consider for your next move. You know where that white dot is siting on that building, so put a building in its view and continue to destroy the other opposition. Work around the threat and engage when the time is right. It's like labeling a player a coward that only uses the Assault shotgun after killing you many times. No, what are you doing that close in the first place? back it up and their strength is now their weakness. Sources: A decade of woodsball and first person shooters. As for other posts about getting tagged while in a buzzard, several tactics should be considered to avoid that in the first place. The most common mistake I see in buzzard pilots is flying high. Pretty much a sitting duck. It's so beneficial to fly low and fast (free aim lobbies), weaving through buildings as cover and making strafe runs from different directions. Fly in what seems like radical paths but are actually planned, progressive manuevers. The Battlefield games hold great experience as the air is pretty much locked down. Back to snipers being cowards, it depends on the sniper. If the player flees when you pursue or enters passive mode when things get hot - then your exactly right. That's a coward just like any player that would do that. But if they jump down and hold their own on the ground, what would you call them? daisymollie
@B Dawg - If you come across a Buzzard that's big, powerful, and covered in armor, let me know. I'd like to buy it because the one I have gets shot down with two shots from a sniper or peppered with any automatic weapon. They're the polar opposite of a tank. @MNTLspazzm - Helpful post. I do fly high so thanks for the advice. I haven't played any other game except GTA but I notice from GTA4 to GTA5 there is a big change in the sniper rifle. I rarely got sniped in 4 but much more in 5 so what changed? Is it the heavy sniper? In the Buzzard, for example, It irks me when I'm repeatedly picked off by two shots which smokes the Buzzard and yet no one is near me. Once the Buzzard smokes, it's done. Some are cowards, some are annoying, but both hide. I need to pay more attention to determine if they leave the session or go to passive mode before I can honestly answer the last question. MNTLspazzm
@daisy yeah those buzzards are pretty light on armor. That's where those techniques shine effectively. Another good tip I learned through Battlefield is to hone your skills weaving and flying low/fast in a session by yourself. You'll also develop routes that give you advantages and routes that are safe to fall back through if you need to. Plus, learning to fly under bridges and through tunnels is a very useful skill when your being tailed. Assess these and apply them to foot wars to really dominate. About sniping in previous games, GTA sniping is too easy in my opinion - no bullet drop or wind effect just point and shoot, plus your character model doesn't render after about a city block and a half so counter sniping isn't really an issue. Thats why it's gained it's use. For the most part though, this game isn't a milsim shooter. All vehicles/weapons need to be easy for the pick-up-and-play aspect (which translates to the $$-$$-$$ aspect in R*'s view).
Red Lynx 23
My heavy sniper rifle still has the ability to put players down with one shot. As for cowardly snipers, there was one player on a rooftop trying to snipe anyone and everyone in a session. He put one bullet hole too many in my Adder when I was driving around..so I went off the radar, and even taking more than a minute to get a shot I took him out while he was trying to snipe a group of other players. I then went back to my garage and watched him hide for a minute or two, then leave the session. Edited February 22, 2014 by Red Lynx
daisymollie
@MNTLspazzm. Yep, I've mastered hovering/hiding under bridges and tunnels and behind buildings to escape a fighter jet and try to get them on a flyby. With other Buzzards I'll fight head on. I also won't shoot down players in unarmed planes or helis since their no threat and I like watching them fly. But I will shoot if they have a bounty. Oh well, thanks for the pointers but the sniper still ticks me off. Daisy
