How do you launch in a street race?

It's probably due to the faster acceleration on the elegy, but lets not forget this is a free roam race so there's also a human error component of false starts or delayed starts whenever they say go or honk the horn 3 times. With that kind of lead, it almost looks like the elegy jumped the gun a bit.

I know. Each to their own. Hence the :p . I actually commend this person for not going down the common car path. This twin turbo version, are you serious? Is it any good? I love a good shaggin wagon...

No, not even. It's a cosmetic thing. Like putting the ricery-ness on a Sultan.

The difference is that the Sultan RS is in the LSC, while the Stratum "cool car" version isn't. You literally have to wait for it.

Personally, I wouldn't suggest it. It's not one of the best Honda cars out there.

Also.. Who mods a Statum? Of all the cars in this game... :p

Who wouldn't?

I love Subaru wagons and the Stratum has Skyline R32 headlights. :pp

Whish it was faster though, and a coupe or sedan version would have been nice.

I would give my left nut for a 32 GTR IRL. Heck both of em even (I got a kid on the way so dont really need em no more :p ). Its a pity the Statum is slow though. Elegy engine swap maybe?

I thought it was this one, though:

Definately a lot of 32 skyline in the front (not GTR)

If you look at a standard GTS R32 its a little closer to the Statum.

As if R* is trolling us with what it could have been and smashed the back of a Accord onto it for a laugh.

I have been fiddling a bit with launches. I found the car seems to jump off the line a lot better when a combo of handbrake (e-brake) and accelerator are used. Use the handbrake to rev up your car. Dont rev to redline but press the accelerator about half way down if not a little less. Hold it there and when you are ready to launch release the handbrake and then accelerate hard, not before. Too much revs too soon and it will break into wheelspin. It seems if you do it just right the car launches nicely with next to no wheelspin. It may just be me but it seems to get off the line quicker. It would be good to try 2 identical cars side by side to see if it makes any difference. It may be none but it does look to dig in and launch better.

Press the gas ONLY ON GO. It's called a turbo start.

Correct, don't rev the engine at all during the beginning of the race it will cancel the turbo start. Thats why everyone honks. If you rev you loose the upper hand in the beginning. Also if tailing another player will make a slip stream that will boost you infront of said player.

LIES!

I Always rev my engine

as long as you time it right it doesn't matter

Could have just been lag. I have seen impromptus and standard races which are computer controlled and have one car launch off the gate before my timer even got to "go". No reason to think the sinking is any different in your races...especially with all those people in one place. i would have been looking for magical floating civilian cars by that point.

I have a modded Stratum, the twin turbo variant.. was my 2nd characters 1st car

very nice car once fully modded performance-wise & not too common I might add, used to get alot of grief cause of it but slowly ppl are asking where I found that version or if I can help them locate 1.

For anyone else interested I sort of figured it out, basically use the e-brake and feather the trigger and let go of the e-brake and throttle.

Squeeze the trigger slowly rather than just nail it. Eliminates wheel spin and doesn't over rev. Much the same as real cars in real life

You're all overthinking it. I get a turbo start every time, I never rev - I wait for the word "GO" to appear for about half a second then hit accelerate. That's it.

it's a race in FREE MODE. not a race or a impromptu race either.

And the elegy probably has more acceleration and traction to the ground to get a boost like that.

Oh I see then, I just read from the top of this page... :)

In that case if the car has a lot of traction like an Inferno then floor it, if it slips like a Muscle car / Vacca then halfway down the trigger until off the line then floor it. :p

I still think it's like a Honda Odyssey though.

Man, that station wagon lacked sleep space.

hold down the ebrake, rev the car on a low rpm, release ebrake and slam the gas on 3.

work's best on modded awd car's. also takes a few try's on getting use too.

Impromptu race: hold handbrake, keep gassing, once it's GO, release the beast.
