Freeroam could be considered a social experiment. Let random people interact with each other in any way they see fit, and see what happens.

Guy sees you driving your schafter minding your business; boom, he flies into you with a titan. That's gta

I was in a session yesterday. I see a guy approaching me, so I went into a defensive stance. as he got near me I popped out, but didn't shoot. I wanted to see his next move. We both knew he was done. He hit the horn, I got in. We drive a few blocks, then a car with two randoms drove by and killed us both. And so went the street beef. Added two New friends. Good times.

Don't get me mistaken.

I have no qualms about going forth and spawn killing a goof who wants to random take me out then destroy my PV, then go passive and troll HIM when he eventually gets his tank out because I've killed him, destroyed his PV back and now will run him over with civilian cars, snipe him and put a $9000 bounty on him for the hell of it.

But...where's the profit in that? If I'm spending my hard earned GTA cash I'm gonna do it on something more worthwhile than one of you small minded imbeciles. Your idea of fun is like white kids inhaling aerosol cans to get high.

Nope, won't see me doing that either.

And people coming in here with their trolling and gloating are any better? if I'm guilty of acting as if I'm "holier than thou" then in this case I will accept that label for the simple fact that I have as much fun with this game actually progressing through it as those of you who say you have fun doing something even more mundane than grinding for levels and cash, and not nearly as fulfilling when you turn the game off.

Assuming some of you even do that. If that rubs anyone the wrong way, deal with it. After all, the guilty will always take offense.

Freeroam is not a lobby!

It's the bread and butter of gta!

We need more activities

Clubs, restaurants, red carpet events, car shows, fight clubs, pool halls, cigar clubs, etc.

Really cool things could be done with deathmatch and even team deathmatch. Especially with the content creator. Especially with Free-Aim on.

Unfortunately the public lobbies are usually full of young kids who have no idea. No idea about anything. Because they are young. And immature. And don't know sh*t about sh*t. Frankly.

IMO the key to a game like GTAO is to find a good, organized community of friends and other gamers, because good, organized chaos ain't happening without it.

I think only about 5-10% of public lobby casuals are decent human beings.

Constantly feeling like Luke Wilson in Idiocracy. Trying to deal with these mongoloids. Good times.

The intent was to kill. Don't over think it. Fun is a matter a perspective, and these situations are expected in freemode.

^ - this mentality is about as deep as your average console player gets... whats, me has gun, you has life, hahahaha me shoots you hahahaha... /fun

Perhaps R* did some focus group research and came to the conclusion that if they put time and money into making it fun, people will just complain that it's too complicated....

More Freemode in a nutshell: (there's even a better example that doesn't involve me appearing to rage-quit, but I didn't youtube it yet... so stay tuned :D)

yeah - sure - what would be the point of all that? No one would use it, they'd still be at the beach in their tank...

So me and my friend decided to go to the beach on gta online. Then once we got to the docks, then this dude just keeps killing us for no reason. Why would you kill someone who didn't even provoke you? This is what GTA online has become. Kill, Kill, Kill... Where is the fun? Why can't we all just take sandkings, load up atv's and haul them up the mountain? And for you guys saying "GTA is about killing, go play sims", If GTA is about killing, then why do we have golf, tennis, planes, tunable cars, apartments, races, submarines, radio, stunt jumps?

GTA is a bout killing, go play golf, tennis, races, and radios and sh*t.

Then they might as well call it 187. Since obviously, since cars aren't good at killing everyone.

The people who say GTA is about killing are clearly playing the wrong game.

ITF (Itchy Trigger Finger) 5 Online... brought to you by the kids who weren't even born yet when Doom and Duke Nuke 'em and all the other quintessential pioneer shooter games were developed... brought to you by the kids who never played GTA 1 or 2... and especially brought to you by kids who don't understand the plot when they watch crime movies.

What annoys me is walking down the street or towards your PV or a store with no weapon out and getting gunned down or blown up for no reason. People even go out of their way to run you down when you're passive.

Then when you revenge kill them they chase you around the map for an hour. Just f**k off, surely you have something better to do :/

Also I've been experiencing people who dump all their cash onto a 2nd character and go around blowing up PVs a lot more lately. R* seriously needs to look into that.

As I've stated before in threads similar to this one, people have their own methods of enjoying the world of GTA Online. Some people like to have friendly car meets, others prefer to sit for hours and obliterate anyone they find, others want to get the best picture of the GTA world that they can. The tools for these things and more have been placed before us, it's up to the player to decide their course of action/s.

Will this sort of activity be dealt with? Absolutely not because technically the person isn't doing anything wrong, they're just "having fun". This kind of activity isn't always mutually entertaining, however, so thus one can expect arguments from both sides of the "issue", with those for it saying that they're having fun, the others saying that it needs to be dealt with and/or will vent their anger in some way.

As typical with the forum, this subject has been/will be a circular argument.

I know right? If they just released a friendly lobby, they would fix 40% of gta onlines problems.

Exactly. Killing people is not the issue. Going out your way to kill someone that is clearly not interested in PvP is griefing.

Well go cry about it then. The rest of us is havin fun

People have just as much reason to "cry" about as they do to gloat about it, hence the term "public forum". What R* needs to do is put these friendly servers back into the mix so that people who want to be social with randoms can, and people who want to be stupid with them (like you) can go and swing your e-peen (or iPeen if you're an Apple guy) accordingly.

You buttpuffrs need to just find a new game. For the last time rock star ain't addin passive'd servers. Plz just stahp bitchin and enjoy the game for what it is for even since by the time they and hb then we would have gta 6

Free roam / random session = survival

Just like they say in boxing: "Gentlemen, protect yourself at all times". Once you hit the ground, the bell rings and it's time to survive b*tches! This is how I like to play and it's the survival aspect that makes the game fun for me.

Just like IRL, you don't get careless while strolling through the rough part of town. Well guess what, GTAO is one big bad f*cking neighborhood  That's just how it is. Watch your back and be prepared to fight any white dot that approaches. If you're looking for the Mr. Rogers version of GTAO, it's called invite only sessions.

Seriously, just use the invincibility glitch. I use it a lot. Literally ask anyone who killed me while I was in Passive.

Although maybe they're too busy whining about my cheating. Point is, if peeps play dirty, play dirtier.

EDIT: I mean, you know. It's Internet based, we're anonymous, so they get to do all the stuff they couldn't do if we all knew each other IRL. Otherwise you'd repeatedly kick him or her in the face.

If you don't want to get killed by random people, then create an invite only session. That option was implemented into the game for a reason. For some reason, some people seem so adamant on resisting the use of that function. Players killing other players is not a problem, no matter what their motives are.

Killing with no intention is impossible. Obviously he had intentions. It's likely that one of his intentions was to kill you and your friend's character. Beyond that you would have to get a truthful answer from said person. It's unreasonable to expect there to be no acts of violence enacted upon players in a game such as GTA, where violence is the foundation of the entire game.

As per your question, stating that the presence of golf, tennis, planes, vehicle customization, apartments, races, submarines, radio and stunt jumps being adequate evidence, suggesting that GTA is not about 'killing' is a deeply flawed argument. I'm sure a majority of people who play GTA Online would rather spend their time playing virtual golf and endlessly customizing their personal vehicles instead of trying to start chaos all over the place. That's the appeal of the game, not playing golf.

Killing other players with no intention, is repugnant in a free and open society

Do you mean "Killing other players for no reason" They obviously had an intention to kill you if they did, you may not have given them a reason to kill you but they didn't need it cause they intended to kill you without having the intention, or reason to do it :panic:

A big part of the game is to ruin the fun of others. It can be fun. Not for you? Well, but for many others.

You always have to expect others to attack you. If you want to play without that risk, don't go in a public session.

The game was not designed for players to ruin each others enjoyment. What you're describing is trolling, and this is just something that exists in certain individuals who need importance from making others unhappy. I would not consider shooting people in freemode as trolling. There are ways to troll in freemode, but killing each other is one of the games objectives.

Exactly. Killing people is not the issue. Going out your way to kill someone that is clearly not interested in PvP is griefing.

Umm...not "exactly".

When you log into a public room and are not in passive mode. You are doing the OPPOSITE of making it clear you aren't interested in PvP.

I dont walk onto a baseball field and expect the ground to be covered with ice and two nets set up at each end so I can play hockey with my 2 butt buddies when the entire world rightfully assumes that baseball is going to be played. I certainly then don't go around whining and griping about how OTHERS are wrong for playing baseball on the baseball field that I want to play ice hockey in.

You want to play beach picnic, private room. You do not want pvp. Private room.

It really, truly, honestly, is THAT SIMPLE.

OP is in the wrong. He needs to get over it and use private rooms and stop taking up space in a room that could use someone who plays the game for pvp kicks rather than to substitute for a non-existent REAL social life outside.

Honestly, make the kills in freeroam NOT count towards your KDR, and at least half would stop, or at least tone it down. Seriously.

Can R* not make it cleaerer that you are SUPPOSED to be killing each other, forming crews and taking control of the streets, by including freemode stats in KDR?

HELLOOOOOO

No you don't understand. You are supposed to go have a bake sale together, then maybe attend a same-sex wedding after rescuing some orphaned cocker spaniel puppies in el burro heights.

The PROBLEM is all the stupid shooting in this game for no reason. You are supposed to wait until the CEO of R* contacts you over the telephone and says it is ok to use your gun in the game. They are going to patch it in soon I heard. The Shooting Permission update is going to RUIN the game. People are going to think it is ok to shoot any of their guns at other people ANYTIME THEY WANT. WTF???!!!
