Separating jobs under particular taxonomies

Here's something that hit my head to day: why aren't certain jobs categorised under a certain type, and why isn't this done already?

 

Let me explain: you obviously have the option to do a mission, a versus mission, a deathmatch, and an LTS. However, a deathmatch and an LTS are two things that fall under the deathmatch category. So why aren't their separations for air races, water races and land races?

It's possible, because R* can make it clear what the job type is. So, in the phone, why haven't they made this possible through the phone already? It would probably help separate people who want to do something other than a typical land race or a typical deathmatch, and want to do vehicle deathmatches or air races instead of playing job roulette.

 

This isn't code, but this is how I think it could be laid out on the phone, also I'm a web developer by day and like to write organisation this way now.

I think this might help spice up the variety even more in GTAO instead of people doing the same kind of Job all the time, as much to many people's peeves being involved in the same kind of race or deathmatch. What do you think? Should certain job types be separated as accessible options under the quick job on the phone?

That's a big word, taxonomy, but yes, I agree completely that the lobby to select next mission should look like the taxonomy or a layered menu tree when we can see the whole structure and can see the trending of people who are waiting for each of these events to fill so they can play.

5th node should be "join dm" ... good idea but I think the whold join/host system is broken. join does not mean host. i've joined bookmarked jobs and forced to host it, then you back out and join another one and then its full. think there should be some better visualization to join jobs instead of just on the phone. something that would rank them better, or display them with lobby counts (i know why they wont list the actual counts though so this will never happen) but something that gives you an incentive to choose less popular missions to better cross pollinate. like a 2x $ and RP multiplier for low-played missions, etc.

I probably should've used category, but taxonomy, as I'm sure you know, is the method of grouping things together.

I highly approve of this idea; granted, not all the unpopular jobs are great either but it would certainly bring a lot more variety into the fold.

You forgot to add "custom" to the options for races and death matches, which I feel is the most needed option right now.

 

Oh and you put "race" where it's supposed to say death match.

im sick of gettimg put in raids when i select mission. do people choosing raid get put in missions? i bet they dont! if theres no mission lobby for me then make me host, dont put me in a raid!!

 

also would like to choose between team missions and NPC based missions, that would be nice

If I choose to go into a mission, it's because I want to do a mission. Not a DM, LTS, a race or (God forbid) Capture.

 

At least the Survival option works as intended.

I hate quick-joining a mission and ending up in versus-mission or capture. It's also annoying to be doing missions and get all capture, LTS and deathmatch for vote options. The lobby mode for IV sucked but it was better than this.

 

I don't know why we even have modes... Why can't we just do this stuff in the game proper?
