I have watched a small clip of MLP on YouTube. It was your typical children show BS. Why this show is SO unique and amazing to some adult people, is something I'll never understand. Yes, I'm bumping this thread. Sorry. But this video is just so spot on. Here we have all different kinds of bronies reacting to a parody video of the fandom based on stereotypes (one that I personally think is hilarious as a joke.) If you're one of those "haters," then I'd really suggest watching this video. It might make you see things differently.

^ I've seen those "bronies react to X" videos before, but I honestly doesn't think the one you linked has much validity or whatever the term is for it. I'm saying this because the bulk of the bronies featured in that video are well known youtubers, which I have a feeling are, more often than not, "cherry-picked" to weed out the type of bronies the collegehumor video is parodying. You know the ones. Fedora, neckbeard, so forth.

 

After seeing the video, the first thing I did was go to

to see what the comments from the bulk of the "brony" community said. The bulk of them in the first page, however, don't seem to come from the "brony" base or whatever the proper term for it is called. For what it's worth, that video would probably get more reactions if you were to show it at a brony convention.

 

While we're at it, this video is worth a watch.

^Yes, they are well-known youtubers, but does that mean anything? What you say is true though, none of them really fit the stereotype, but that's what it is, a stereotype. We have no real way of knowing, no demographic saying how many bronies or like this or that, therefore we can't say. I know there are people like you describe, but I think it would be fair to say that doesn't represent a large amount of bronies - and I know this from personal experience being part of the fandom.

 

Anyway, none of them being why bronies are usually imagined as doesn't take away from the credibility of the video IMO. They're still part of the fandom and they all make good points in the video. I think this video alone can debunk the assumption that all of us are losers with no life-in fact, many of us are just normal guys with an enjoyment of the show and community surrounding the show. THAT is what some people need to get through their heads.

 

As for the video you posted, I don't even agree with lots of what he said, but you have to admit, he has f*cking guts. I really doubt many of you (including me) would have the balls to go up in front of your peers and talk about such an "underdog" subject. I respect him for that.

Boku no Pico was... interesting. I find these types of anime hilarious due to how unrealistic it is. I mean a guy buys you ice cream and then you have sex with him. what? I found it to be gross though. Gay porn is not something I plan to watch. Shotacon and Lolicon anime do sound pretty interesting though. The whole concept of them and exactly how many kinds of these things even exist. Has anyone heard of futari? Basically hermaphrodite humans.

 

On topic though I have not had many experiences with bronies. Depends on the person I guess. I mean I like nintendo at the age of 12. Does that automatically make me a bad person. Well I guess to some people yes. But to hopefully rational people no. I just don't like any type of person who tries to shove these things down my throat. Kind of like weeaboos. Wow. I haven't even watched that much. Only about 15 episodes here, but that's just because I've spent more time actually participating in the fandom then watching the show.

I didn't even know BMFM had a reboot!

 

Old episodes were f*cking awesome, I don't like the new animator though and I can see why fans from the old BMFM would hate on it.

 

You could say the same about the new TMNT coming up, though it does look like just some black people painted green.
