Does Armor add weight to vehicle?

It adds weight. But only shows you when you use the ifruit app to mod your car. I am not sure if the weight affects your overall speed or vehicle mass.

It seems to effect acceleration and breaking but not traction, but not by huge amounts.

It's a minimal difference. Between no armour and max armour, it's only going to change your lap time by hundredths of a second.

I was wondering this myself.

But slightly off topic, i had noticed when not using BPT my cars feel like they have more grip, unless its a placebo effect.

If it does, the need 'for' it certainly outweighs any loss in performance you might have. If you are in a race with a lobby full of 'rammers' you'll be happy you have the added protection. They can easily turn a non armored vehicle into a crumpled sardine can, but with armor, you can withstand far more abuse and continue to maintain full control and drivability of the vehicle. It's a must if you race a lot, and as soon as you unlock 100%, get it, you won't be sorry.

Well I got a Dubsta 2 and its pretty fast fully upgraded. 100% armor made it feel heavy but not sure if it heavier or just placebo. Removed it completely and it doesn't feel as heavy but not noticing a huge difference other then it turns into tin pretty quick.

I was wondering if 80% is a better option since I'm used to racing with it already , is 100% that much better ?

Ecstasyisfun! I want to thank you immensely for that enlightenment. One of the best posts on the forum and finally closed the door on probably my only lingering question.

This topic is so redundant.

Not sure how accurate the stats bar is, but last time during car selection for race, I saw my 40% armored Issi had lower top speed than normal Issi.

Hey man can you link to that page? There are a couple more questions I'd like to ask regarding handling and wheel type.

Thanks for posting that BTW.

Tyres do make a difference, armour does not

(picture deleted)

Brilliant addition, but can we get clarification on "wheel type?"

IMNSHO, custom tires are better but I'm curious to know if the actual wheel type matters or not. I'm gonna be kinda bummed if, though, in the end every racing car needs to have "high end" tires to compete.

in the picture it says '' wheel type and suspension does effect handling '' in the second answer the R* rep gives, The custom tyres option is the only thing left unanswered, personally i believe its probably just cosmetic difference for that upgrade though i haven't really tested it at all.

Wheel type as in Street, Muscle, etc. Muscle slides really bad but it makes sense on a muscle car. Each one has their own use.

Nothing, just make your car more stronger and you're able to ram other cars easily, the more armor you add, the more stronger it is

i certainly feel the difference, my cars with armor are slower and dont handle the way i like, without armor its lighter and i can just about throw my car anywhere i want without losing control, also if u do ramps in races, def no armor, armor handles like crap and is heavy on the ramps.

this has been a discussion within our crew and everyone seems to agree, no armor is better, and we dont have to worry about rammers as we all race as a crew with clean racers...

I don't have the link; but the last time I saw this question asked on the rockstar support forum; the mod replied saying it does add weight but he didn't go on with many details, just the initial statement.

Armour makes your car not explode when falling from a high altitude. Also delivers more damage to an NPC car you hit head on, even the slightest speed, an NPC can die where as at the same speed with no armour, the NPC is still alive.
