Satourn
First of all, hello ladies and gentlemen. Hello, my fellow DYOM Designers. Not long ago I've made a post in The Designers Lounge where I've stated that I will be starting a new thread where I will upload mission packs of Russian DYOM Designers, because our own community has its stars as well. Well, here we are! This specific thread is going to contain mission packs of one very popular mission designer who goes by the name 'Santal'. He's is a very well-known dude in our Russian Community and is also one of the best mission designers I've ever seen, not only in Russia, but in the whole world. His plots, twists and missions themselves can be compared with those of Jimmy_Leppard. Also, Santal told me to let you know that he mostly takes inspiration from Alejandro Jodorowsky's and Thomas Pynchon's works, and his mission packs are very influenced by these two people. So yeah, without further ado let me begin... One last thing though. Because of soundtrack that Santal always includes in his mission packs and the size limitation on dyom.gtagames.nl, I'll have to upload the files on Mediafire. House built on sand Plot: This story tells us about a recently married couple, Jake and Sheila, who experience several difficulties in their life. As a compromise, Jake wants to cut the ties with his criminal past once and for all and enjoy the life with his wife. But these kinds of decisions are not usually welcomed in the Underworld... Characters: There are 3 main and 3 supporting characters in this story: Jake - Jake is the protagonist of this mission pack and was supposedly living a criminal life before he married Sheila (according to the Plot). Jake is somewhat rude and curses a lot. Sheila - Sheila is Jake's wife. Nothing is known about her past. Now Sheila experiences difficulties with speaking to his husband, because the latter always comes late from work. Dr. Richards - Richards is Jake's and Sheila's new family psychologist. He tries to establish the relations between Jake and Sheila. Richard - Richard is Jake's friend who helps him to find someone Jake is looking for. Michelle - Michelle is Jake's lover. She doesn't play an important role in the story. Luca Calvani - Luca is that someone Jake is looking for. Nothing is known about him at the moment. Missions: Download 'House built on sand' Additional notes: - This mission pack (actually it is a storyline) has its own soundtrack. If you want full experience, don't forget to put the SD folder in your 'GTA San Andreas User Files'; - This is a part of a big story where all pieces are connected to each other. Soon I'll be uploading Santal's other mission packs, so stay tuned. DragonWarrior (DnW)
Who's Sandal? I just wonna know. Is he a good DYOM Designer? Edited February 7, 2014 by DragonWarrior (DnW)
AnDReJ98
Yes, he is great designer, i suggest you to try this storyline. I played it. It was amazing. I just feel it different compared to most missions i played. Unique style and story. I liked it. Soundtrack is also good, i most liked the ending song. Can you tell me the name of it, if you know? Good choice of animations, unique use of moving cutscene, i feel like i'm in the story. For a short mission-pack, gameplay and cutscene are better some of Jimmy's missions that i have played (No offence to Jimmy). I would give it 9.8/10. Send this comment to Sandal, and you also did amazing job here Russian brother. Keep doing this, i always knew there are many great designers that are in 'shadow', goodluck! The Odyssey
My game crashed when I activated the 2nd mission, (excluding the intro) I haven't tried it a second time yet but I will when I have free time.
Satourn
To AnDReJ - I'll ask about the song, and I will of course tell him about your rating. To Odyssey - Well I doubt it's my fault, since I've just touched the subtitles, plus AnDReJ have completed it. Hope you will be able to complete it without crashes next time. To DnW - He's a DYOM Designer from Russia.
Jimmy_Leppard
I just finished the storyline and as expected, it was great I don't want to spoil the story for anyone, but all I'm gonna say is that some of the cutscenes were pretty funny. However, I don't know if it's just me, but I actually knew the ending was gonna be sad

DragonWarrior (DnW)
Has he got a profile in DYOM site? OR any other? Give me a link.
Junior.
This MPack is great Really enjoyed it. But I didn't understand the ending. Could you tell me what happened? In my game the protagonist just kept shooting the guy at the cutscene then I was another guy (Maccer). Sorry, don't know how to use spoiler tags in the new posting format. Satourn
But I didn't understand the ending. Could you tell me what happened? Jake is supposed to be killed by the guy in black in the end of pre-outro mission. To DnW - No, he doesn't have a profile on DYOM site or anywhere else. I will tell him about all your replies. So I see that you people like his works. I'm gonna ask him about the next MP of his that I will translate. The Odyssey
OK, so I just finished the storyline. Here are my thoughts. Pros: -Great story -Awesome use of sounds -Great missions -Great characters -Satisfying ending Cons: -Intro has gameplay in it. I know this is very nitpicky, but sometimes it's annoying whenever you play a storyline you have to play the exact same mission over and over again just to load up your storyline progress. -Not much dialogue. -The traffic cone as a form of checkpoints, while it is creative, can get confusing at times. But that's just how I look at it.
Platinum Card
Just finished Santal's Mission Pack: "A House Built On Sand". I was really impressed with the overall presentation of the story. Santal's style reminded me of my own (cutscene wise). The soundtrack motivated me to continue playing until the end. It gave a mood to the story and made it seem unique. I'd definitely play more of his stories. It's one of the best I've played in a while, along side Bk90's- The Flats. My Rating: 9/
KowalskiGuy
Well, I've finished it too. It's very nice. When I saw those dialogues, sometimes, I don't see a sense in them, but I see it when I think more. And when I heard that Epilogue song, I had a feeling I've heard it somewhere. Later, I realized: Of course I did! My rating is: 8,7/
DragonWarrior (DnW)
Wo! The ending of the House build on Sand was so sad. I didn't get why the protagonist was chasing after the guy called Luca Calvan, the begining was not much detailed. However the Missions were good, I realy liked the sounds! I'd give a 8.5/10 Edited February 9, 2014 by DragonWarrior (DnW)
Satourn
Thanks for the feedbacks. To DnW - This storyline is just a little piece of a big puzzle. Dtay tuned for the next parts, it will start to make sense soon.
Gummy
8.5/10 Awesome, But it's kind of short. And how did you make the subtitles appear like the name of the speaker appears on top and the dialogue is on the bottom?
Satourn
8.5/10 Awesome, But it's kind of short. And how did you make the subtitles appear like the name of the speaker appears on top and the dialogue is on the bottom? Thanks for the feedback. It's not my work, but that's how you do it (it's simple, actually) - you just write the name, then put the new line code (+n+) and write the rest of the words.
