Talking about pirating the game is against forum rules. So stop with that sh*t, or reports will be made.

We are not allowed to talk about how to pirate a game but we are allowed to talk about the topic pirating in general. Why would it be against the rules?

People were saying that they are going to pirate the game.

Its against the rules to say that you are going to pirate the game. Talking about doing anything illegal, (in this case pirating GTA V), is against the forum rules.

Having big news sites publish information about already well-previously-known information?

 

That fake video could have also been used for hype, where Rockstar/Take Two might have not wanted people to know it was fake and think there was a PC version that was actually done and waiting to be to be released. Big newssites called it real and even showed "analysis" videos and then said "ohyeahitsreal" even with all the giveaways.

 

So it seems like there is something suspicious afoot.

 

Edit: Tried to find that 8 minute-ish analysis video I mentioned earlier. Couldn't. Seems like the leak is almost old news by this point?

There's nothing much left to announce or even worthwhile for consoles except an announcement to bring back the buzz around the game for steady sales in comparison to new games releasing.

I hope it's what we are waiting for.

On the topic of piracy, however, I feel that Rockstar needs to add additional DRM to their game.

 

Non-intrusive and somewhat lenient DRM that slowly and methodically brings the carmageddon to an illegitimate save file. Friction slowly melting away would be the most amusing "fade" anti-piracy measure out there, f*ck that drunk camera Toyota sh*te. Possibly something to the tune of adding -0.1 to friction for every car for every minute played.

 

Then again I suppose you don't want people illegitimately downloading the game to see if they can very quickly beat the game, or at the very least how far they can get, before it becomes unplayable...

 

On any note, I love creative anti-piracy measures as long as it pertains to in-game wonkiness and the actual protection isn't more intrusive than Steam DRM and isn't prone to breaking. Hope they do something creative with GTA V.

 

Unless they dont put something like a Always Online copy protection like in Sim City 5, the game will be pirated as hell thats so sure like the fact that the sky is blue.

 

Maybe it will last longer like 1 week to break the new protection but it will be broken thats sure.

 

And on the other side nobody wants a always online copy protection.

Yes as long as you only want to prevent pre launch leaked games of course it works well. But after release every Steam Game gets cracked.

DRM has proven itself more to be a hassle for the consumer than an anti-piracy measure. The best DRM in terms of keeping a game protected was Starforce, back in the early 2000s when the internet was younger. I think it protected a Tom Clancy game from being cracked for about ~340 days. Of course, Starforce also was very intrusive and caused tons of compatibility issues. Scarface: The World Is Yours, for example, shipped with it for PC retail in 2006 and because of Starforce it COMPLETELY BROKE when Vista rolled around.

 

 

 

 

It's pretty much confirmed to be the Starforce DRM causing the problem, and launching it through a 3D ripping program such as 3DRipper9 leaves the user with no issues at all.

 

 

 

So the best practical options in the ways of DRM are to do something silly with it, do nothing with it, or hassle the consumer with it. While preventing piracy would be a cool goal (especially with consumer knowledge on the rise because of things like Steam reviews and Metacritic), it is currently practically unattainable, especially in a way that does not hassle the consumer.

I think he means Elgiganten (The Electronics Giant), a major danish/swedish electronics store.

Yes, ok ... we know that. Wath_dogs and GTA5 are very different games.

GTA5 is a open world with missions/objectives/quest.

WD will be an Open & Free world. We will choose our missions. The real risk of this game, the real danger of this game is indeed that "random tasks" become repetitive.

(but Chicago has nothing to common with this small "Los Santos").

 

But overall, it is subjective to say that one is better than the other ... Each person has their preferences.

But it's nice from you to take care of R* by saying that WD will be worst (without knowing how the game will be really). It's very much appreciated because this encourages them to ignore us more.

 

Anyway, the games will be very different, but for publishers/distributors, there isn't difference: Money and market share.

For example, when I say my next "GTA5" will be "Watch_dogs" ... I know the games will be very different, but there is no difference in my wallet.

We wait GTA5 since too long now (since 5 years!), And now, for me it will be GTA5 or WD .. first come, first purchased.

If GTA5 is out before WD, so I buy GTA5 and WD.

If GTA5 out after WD, I only buy WD (because R* will reach the limits of my wiiiiiiiiiiiiide patience..... but, maybe I will buy GTA5 when it will be on sale for €12 max on steam in a few years).

Of course, i know if I am alone TTWO doesn't care, but if millions of players do the same TTWO/R* will think about it ... before taking us for fools with their next GTA6 (or R* will look only toward Consoles.... but it will be a very bad choice for the future....).

 

Everybody with common sense will know that watch dogs will not be as good as V.

Rockstar is making history with sandbox games since the 90`s.

 

Also i dont think that my opinion encourage R to ignore us more.I dont have that power.

I preffer tlo wait and have an amazing pc version than wait less and have a crappy port like IV. And i know that when V comes to PC, everbody, including you, will forget about watch dogs and this complains about R will convert in compliments.

The attitude of some of you in here is absolutely pathetic. "Rockstar hasn't given me the PC version when I wanted it, I feel inclined to rub it in their faces by pirating their game."

 

If you're going to be pirating GTA V PC because Rockstar is taking their time on it (which is a good thing BTW), get the f*ck out. Rockstar doesn't need to tell anyone the PC version is coming, they have every right to stay quiet. Considering how long they've stayed quiet, we can probably expect a very well-polished game that's nowhere near the likes of GTA IV.

 

Can't wait any longer? Wipe away the tears you cry baby, there's a lot of good things in life you have to wait a very long f*cking time for. I am confident GTA V PC will blow every other PC game out of the water, and we already know for a fact it's going to be absolutely BEAUTIFUL in terms of graphics.

GTA is unbeatable in its cathegory.

GTA has such a level of detail, it has such a great black humor.

Pretty clever...

I mean, everything in that game is so detailed and well-made.

The djs, the radios, the subliminal messages, the characters, the cities, the pop culture aberrations, the grim analysis on our society.

No other free-roaming game is capable of delivering such an experience...not even the so called "Funnier Ones".

That's why i can't wait for a PC version announcement.

Wait, very optimistic? It's already 5 months after the release, it's 4 days before TTwo conference, it doesn't need to happen it was just my prediction and it's definetly not "very optimistic" guess, it's just a announcement not a release, you don't know what may happen tommorow, neither do I. Saying "but it's not happening tommorow" you must be 100% sure and you need to have some proof to back it up.
