It would be nice is Rockstar added a slightly more polished version of GTA IV's multiplayer on top of GTA Online. So I can install mods like I would in GTA IV and if I wanted to checkout what they've added to GTA Online I could.

I also guess you weren't around when people were going around giving out modded money and Rockstar had to patch it out. Also let's not forget about these shall we?

I have 200 hours in IV, and I've only come across 2 hackers. Both times were in a race. 1 guy kept teleporting into first place, and the other blew everyone up in front of him.

In free roam, almost everyone is using the SNT, but even then it's not totally necessary because there's not as much random killings as in the console versions. But then again, free roam is meant to have fun and do whatever you want. This isn't the case in GTA Online. You need money to buy cars, guns, and other things. If you die, all the money you have on you can get stolen by the guy that killed you. Also there's K/D ratios and other stats that syncs with your Social Club. So players would just kill other players to boost their stats and K/D ratio. If anything, having invincibility in free roam would be very beneficial, even on the console versions. Passive Mode just doesn't cut it, because for some reason, you can still be killed while driving a car.

 

Also mods ≠ hacks.

 

 

Yeah, but the issue with Online is that it is driven much more by RPG elements as you have said, it's not just freeroam.

 

So they should have freeroam and/or modded lobbies separate from their weird MMO thing, and for players playing GTA Online, Rockstar really needs to improve passive mode somehow so that only NPCs can affect you (which is difficult in a game like GTA, of course - if they made it so player-driven cars don't clip players, what happens if a player parks on another player and then leaves the car? etc.) One of the first rules to an MMO is that if a player can inconvenience another player, they will do so, and thus that needs to be preventable by all players in some way. Rockstar needs to achieve that if they want GTAO to be successful.

 

Also, it's not really hacks. It's all client-side to my understanding and is akin to mods, although in this situation it is to receive a clear unfair advantage or to inconvenience other players, and that's why that is not acceptable as opposed to something like having a custom handling.dat outside of competitive racing matches.

I think, the game will take at least fps hit run at max settings and resolution. Personally, I love the feature as it adds realism, although some people don't. I don't know why they don't.

Be glad that hardware manufacturers aren't intentionally sabotaging the performance of said games.

 

I wouldn't really want AMD/nVidia/Intel/Valve crusading to get PC exclusives or bring over console exclusives either, because I believe that games should go where the consumers are and that would be a reverse of what is already the case with Sony/Microsoft.

Holy sh*t. I'm surprised people aren't talking about the Twitter thing with Diaz more. He's practically teasing all of us.

 

Releasing GTA V on Mac seems like a nice move, too. Since Max Payne 3 also hit Mac not too long ago, If I remember correctly.

 

 

Time to revive those broken hopes of yours, my friends. I'm not saying it's gonna be Thursday. But it's closer and closer. I'd say within the coming weeks.

 

He must have permission to talk like this if he's pushing his NDA so hard. He probably wouldn't do it in quite the same publicly exposed manner otherwise.

Although Rockstar might just be orchestrating those tweets to build a little hype. You never really know.

As I said, I think he has permission to tease us. He used a hashtag, after all. So it might as well be an open invitation.

 

I sure am hoping he has permission to say it. I don't want him losing his position, neither. He seems like a pretty cool guy and is pretty much the only dev from any branch of Rockstar to speak with us regarding this whole PC situation.
