Meh, they're not going to say anything in the conference call. Another month or two will determine the PC version.

Games aren't announced in fiscal year summaries! They're announce in individual press releases, which is how GTA SA was announced, and every single GTA, including PC releases. That's not a press release, it's a fiscal year summary.

 

 

Yeah, except for the other games in that list?

They all count as announced. The PC version of GTA V has had zero hints so far, they're not going to put it there. We have two options, it'll be announced or it'll come later.

Before we all rage, can I just draw your attention to one detail on that announced games list. It specifically says "future titles announced to date"

 

GTA V PC has not been announced yet, hence why it's not down on the list.

Of course a crossfire rig isn't going to get god like performance in IV. Why would it? The problem was never really gpu performance. It was always a cpu bottleneck that killed GTA IV on pc. And for this same reason I anticipate V will be the same to a certain degree. I am expecting it to perform better than IV absolutely. But thinking it'll run even close to highest settings Max Payne 3? Yeah keep dreaming. Or better yet go get MSI Afterburner and watch what bottlenecks your performance in any open world game on the market. As long as you have a decent gpu (GTX 660 or 7850 etc) you'll be cpu bottlenecked before gpu. Especially if you play on a single monitor thats 1080p or less.

I agree, but, as far as I'm aware, GTA IV is one of the very few games that seem to be overkill for all kinds of processors. It took several years until it was possible to run Crysis on at least 60 frames per second, you said, right? It has been over five years since GTA IV was released for PC and the framerate still dips to ~12FPS. The patches improved the game a lot, and it was far worse in the very beginning. However, it's still far from being perfect.

 

The singlethread performance of a typical, modern Intel processor is at least 40% better than the one of the old Core 2 Quad CPUs from 2009 and earlier. Yet there is no vast improvement in performance at all. The maximum framerate did in fact increase, it would be almost frightening if that wasn't the case, but there is little to no improvement on the minimum frames per second or the stability of it. Sure, it takes a bit more time on newer processors until there are very noticeable framedrops, but the problem has never been solved. This is often the problem of console ports: PC games keep the limitations of the console version, even if PC's are technically far superior and capable of more. Thankfully though, this won't be a problem in future videogames.
