Rly? Why do so many people think there will be no pc/ng version until story dlc/all online dlc? Its can be clearly seen that full pover company is not needed to develop small dlc's. And modern company must have a lot of divisions. So, in my opinion, pc/ng versions are fully in work or already sent to dvd factories.

This is not a fact, Hx1349. Rockstar never stated that there won't be a next-gen or PC release. In fact, they never said anything specific about additional platform releases in the first place. It's very possible that GTAV arrives for those platforms sometime in the near future, it is just a matter of time until they announce it. Nothing is for certain right now. The purpose of this thread is to talk about the next-gen version of the game, as in the PS4 and Xbox One release, and not PC. So, please, don't post unless you have something to say on the matter.

because the big issue with the X1 version of watch dogs is that it runs at 720p

compared to the Sony's Playstation 4 which runs it at 1080p.

i actually think both PS4 and One versions will run at 1080p resolution but the PS4 will have more fps (i'd say about 40fps)

 

if the xbox 360 runs at 720p and maybe 20-25fps then i'd expect the One to be able to go up to 1080p with a small fps boost (compared to PS4) up to about 30-35fps.

 

that way rockstar can market both games as running in full 1080p HD.

 

how i expect it to line up:

 

ps3 - 720p / 20-25fps

360 - 720p / 20-25fps

ps4 - 1080p / 40fps

one - 1080p / 30fps

Logically speaking, the Xbone version would be inferior compared to the PS4 counterpart. Either the graphics and the resolution are similar but the framerate is quite different, or the X1 version has slightly worse graphics but a similar framerate. It all depends on the optimization of both platform releases, though. For example, it is possible that Microsoft paid a good amount to Rockstar to make the Xbox One release as good as the PS4 one. Which means it would take more time to optimize the game for the MS console. So, if their plan was to release the PS4 and Xbone [and PC] versions at the same time and they face some problems in the development of let's say one of these platforms, then they will take all the time they need to get it to work the way they want it. And as a result, the game would be delayed for all those platforms, not only for the platform where the problem(s) arised.

It will be seperate, without a doubt. I don't think that the console manufacturers themselves would want cross-platform multiplayer gaming. It's entirely up to them, not the developers/publishers like Rockstar, as far as I know. Edited April 15, 2014 by Andreas

Couldn't they target 60 fps for single player considering that doesn't have as much stress as online does? There's no sh*tty servers for SP and it is smooth. The online however can be locked to 30 fps.

They certainly could target 60 FPS if they wanted, but the question is how much would it affect the game graphically? That are next-generation systems after all, and people expect a substantial upgrade when it comes to the graphics. They will most likely aim for both, better graphics and better framerate. I think that would be the most reasonable decision.

If it is a proper seperate development then yes a balance would indefinitely be better. If its a port, framerate increase would be ideal. But it's hard to know since we do not actually know which one it is?

I don't wanna go offtopic so I won't post a link with all the upcoming titles for both NG and PC, but there are dozens of amazing titles coming in the next months. Rockstar not only is not holding the game re-release because of LG consoles/ content but also they don't have much space for maneuver so they can't keep dragging this, people will get tired of waiting and will find something new to get entertained with.

TLOU remastered is not really a major development though, it's a port, with enhancements. IF GTA V is a port, then it will be going through the same situations otherwise not.

Yeah, but the thing is, till now nothing was released that was interesting or that could replace V in terms of entertainment. But soon there will be more and more interesting titles, real competition for the money (not exactly games of the same kind of V, not Open worlds) equally interesting and in peoples mind V will be just an old wish that took to long. This is a matter of timing, if it comes when the market is boring like right now it will be a huge hit, if it comes when the market is crowded it will be a shot in their foot.

Yesterday I had a little visit at my neighbors house, there I saw a xbox360, and I asked as a joke "do you have GTA V"? his son, a 10yo kid tells me "yeah we got gta v, but its boring already finished it a long time ago", and I was thinking to myself "wtf im a hardcore gta fan and a f*cking 10yo kid tells me he played it long time ago" , OK so "we go where the money is". yeah let the kids play.. half of the console copies are held by kids. yeah f*ck this sh*t.

 

@Silverwolf - yes there are open world's too. Ubisoft - "The Crew" is going to have the whole united states as an open world.

Exactly! Time is running out for Rockstar. And who says they're ever going to get the XB1 version run the same as the PS4 version? Maybe they won't, or maybe only in 6 months from now. Drop the XB1 version like right away if it causes these kind of troubles.

They should've added a clausule like the amount of time they would put in porting it to both NG consoles. If one of them can't be ported in the amount of time they contracted, then it's fked up for that console, but contract is contract. It can always be released in the future, but don't hold up other consoles that are already ready for release!

 

The odds are slowly turning against them..
