And now,(slightly more) on topic;

all of you hardcore hunters have already exhaustively covered most of the topics that occurred to me while either playing the game and or reading these threads. One thing that struck me as cool during my story playthrough was the conversation with the dog, which i acknowledge has been discussed prvsly, so all apologies if this tidbit has already been offered up-

 

Any fans of author Dean Koontz out there? Hes apparently fond of the super-intelligent talking animal trope (really, who isnt?) and throws this into the plots of some of his novels, especially the Golden Retriever breed of dog. Specifically, his novel The Watchers features a struggle between two abnormal beings created in a sinister research lab, one of whom is a mutant freak, the other a golden ret. that reads Dickens and such... In the novel (and the inferior movie starring a pre-burnout Corey Haim) this takes place in & around the L.A. area. Simi Valley, if I'm not mistaken. Not worth much checking into IMHO, simply a pop culture EE, but I don't think that angles been covered as of yet.

 

Going back to lurking and fact sifting for now. Anyone who wants to be a sounding board for ideas concerning the psychological aspects of this game in particular feel free to shoot me a PM- if you do that be warned; im not into the metaphor cult but more interested in the game design...

I havent read it in a while but its interesting because iirc they found it but it took them a while to figure out exactly how to spawn it. This was before any glyphs were really found.

The star in the desert has been debunked.

The star on the rock hasn't been found.

 

The giant 'glyph' on the mountain hasn't been debunked, since I brought it up at least a few weeks ago, there has been no discussion on it and I haven't posted any further findings on it.

You seem to see different to what I see.

why has the desert star been debunked but not the rock one? The desert star is the one that Druminator claims was pulled from a social club image. It may not be in that location specified, but I still feel like it's worth checking out.

I'd like to look into the Starrock but, @this point anything significant thats found & dosnt have some info or location should be questioned. I want something 2B found as much as anyone else here but, think about it.... how many of us here would eagerly & willingly share location info on even the smallest of our discoveries? Just hate searching for geese is all.

@time Agreed. Perhaps I just hate to see theories go to waste without definitive proof that they don't exist, but yes, I see how they halt the progress of the search as a whole. I'll keep searching for trivial things on my own time, while trying to keep stuff in here as logical as possible. On an unrelated note, why has my flair labeled me as a punk ass bitch?

It kind of sucks at how much stuff was listed in the 100% not certain category back then and the majority of them would still be considered that now.

 

 

I'm kind of wondering if the rock with the star on it was photoshopped. It was said that he got it from a cryptic post in one of the old threads. Still looking for it though.

Guys... Scoobysrt posted, a few pages ago, the exact location of the "desert star", with instructions of how to view it exactly as it is in the other image. IMO, he clearly debunked it as what appears to be a texture mapping issue.

I'm wondering if someone saw a half made star, or beginning of one and decided to "Shop" it to finish it up and send it around the internet?

 

1. If it was from the Social Club website, then it can't be photoshopped.

 

2. If not from the Social club, then you can't be sure of where the location was, since the pics are vague on area of location.

 

Debunking would be proving it doesn't exist no matter what evidence is lacking.

 

I have a $100 in my wallet, i don't have to show you, that doesn't mean it's debunked.

 

The word "Debunk" get's thrown around out of context pretty regularly around here. Not personally directed towards you Scoobs, just in general the forum as a whole.

I'll put my bets on those stars being a random fluke. If you look not all the star is there and if you look around in the image you can make out other fragments of star. Look at the patches of grass and the sharp angles. Then go in game and find somewhere where the patches of grass are present and look around from different angles etc. Probably better taking a snap.

 

Just my opinion guys. I mean if the star in the image was a complete star i'd believe it.

 

Will look again tomorrow.

The same thing happened with the sand glyph. It was posted as just a single, cryptic image. Everyone thought it was fake, then someone finally found it after relentlessly searching. Stop feeling sorry for yourself

How are you going to tell me that this is the star in the picture? the one in the picture is a clearly defined, perfectly symetrical star. Your picture consists of maybe a line? maybe? if you squint really hard. What made you conclude that the image you've provided is the star in the previous image? I don't see any similarities besides they're both on sandy desert ground

The star is non-existent, i should have made myself clear that i agree w/Scoobs.

 

Just used the post to show how "Debunked" get's thrown around a bit.

 

I sent Scoobs a PM explaining that it wasn't a personal thing directed towards him or his post, just the board in general, myself included since i am also guilty of doing this.

 

Hell, i probably do it more than anyone else, just actually writing it out helps to make one more self aware, if that makes sense.
