Another ploy of R*'s to get our money? Or just a badly worded mess

-age. (Stupid title got cut off..)

I'll be playing my game like normal, then suddenly it'll black screen, the Xbox itself doesn't freeze, but the just the game, it'll then auto restart, and reload, but not before saying, "There was an error reading your disc, please consider getting it replaced." It doesn't say the usual error you'd get if a game is dirty and can't be read that the Xbox itself will give you, no this comes from the game itself, in the Rockstar font and colours. It asks me to consider getting another copy of GTA V... This is the ONLY game that my Xbox apparently has a problem reading, even though the disc is BRAND NEW, zero scratches, zero dust, and yet for some reason, I'm constantly getting this error. It's like subliminal messaging or something, and the sad thing is, some people are stupid enough to believe it too... "Oh, that's very kind of Rockstar to let me know that my disc needs to be replaced!" *Runs off to Wal-mart to give them another 60 dollars.*

This is just as annoying as the (see below) thing.

*Goes to buy a $1 soda, but doesn't have the money in wallet, only bank.*

*Prompt comes up asking you to buy GTA $ and you accidentally click yes not realizing what is going on, and the next thing you know, you're being pulled out of your game session, and sent into the clouds of Microsoft's microtransaction offices with a neatly assorted group of color cards placed before you that the store is asking an absorbanent sum of money for.* (Seriously, like 60 bucks for that one? Like I'd pay the entire price of the game again for some in-game currency... What kind of fool do you take me for?!)

If the game is faulty, why do you need to buy another one? Just get it replaced or get a refund. No need to buy a new one. I think you'd be covered by the Sale of Goods Act. But I have to agree with rawrsnar - pics or it didn't happen.

The game taking you to the cash cards is nothing new. It's always done that if you try to buy something that has to be bought with cash and all your money is banked.

I've never experienced any of that. I do have disk 2 loaded onto a USB flash drive though (disk 1 is on the hard drive), maybe that helps?

This happened to me on PS3 two days ago!! I immediately checked disc, no scratches or smudges. I then put in another disc and it plays just fine. I thought it was a little shady but didn't jump to any conclusions. Now after reading your post it makes me wonder......

Some of you really read into things too far. Holy crap.

It's not really reading into it when the Xbox says, "The disc cannot be read, it may be dirty or scratched, please check it for scratches, clean it, and then try again." and Rockstar says, "Your disc cannot be read, please consider getting a new one." They're practically begging you to buy a new one. "PLEASE, just at least CONSIDER getting a new copy!"

Just return the disk. Is that so hard?

Yes I have to waste gas to go to gamestop and get $5 for the game.

STOP STOP STOP STOP

This is a real thing and it's because your INSTALL is f*cked. It happened to me after a couple of months and all you need to do is delete your install disc and reinstall it.

It happened to me on my USB stick which is where my mandatory installation was made.

It might seem like an odd phrasing of words, but I guess it's just their way of covering their asses incase people are REALLY stupid to not try deleting installations and starting fresh.

Trust me just delete the install, do it again and you'll be fine.

The data just gets messed up somehow.

EDIT: When I say install I just mean Disc 1

that's how mine is too. i think it makes the game load faster and it definitely keeps the xbox quieter. i am running an elite from 2009. a few weeks ago i was having weird pop in issues though, but clearing the cache on the flash drive fixed that. i don't know why it needed it as i only have GTA V installed on that drive.
