Why is suicide illegal?

I heard there is a town in europe where dying is ilegal because once you bury the body it'll stay in that condition meaning that it will not discompose. Gee I wonder if they ever heard of cremation.

Instead of killing yourself, you can use your gift of life to help others. Volunteer at homeless shelters, feed the starving kids in Africa, save endangered animals or even become a superhero like batman?

1. The Church can’t Tithe a dead body every week.

2. The Government can’t Tax a dead body more than once.

3. If it’s done crudely somebody else has to clean it up.

4. The Church can’t get any more money after buying (renting) the Grave and service.

5. The Hospital can’t ‘harvest’ the body parts to sell to another person.

6. Hospital’s don’t make nearly as much money ‘keeping the body’ alive, if the person succeeds.

7. The Medical Profession won’t have test subjects if people in Agony would off themselves.

8. Hospitals/Medical Professionals assist in suicides, when the subject no longer is “viable” (Code for bankrupt). [it’s called increasing the Morphine Drip.]

9. The Church is against it because they can’t get Donations from those who aren’t rich. It’s ok with them if the person sets up a Trust or Donates Property.

10. When the People in Power figure out a way to make money from suicides it will become legal. (I predict ‘harvesting body parts’.)

I know that in Japan, if you commit suicide by jumping in front of a train, the railroad company fines the family of whoever got struck by the train and drug under the wheels. Evidently it's that inconvenient for everybody else.

Yeah, but it's not like "your son got his brains all over my train, pay me!" it's a strategy to curb the practise, which is incredibly traumatic for drivers.

 

It seems unthinkable here, but Japan is a suicide tolerant society.

Because suicide is technically murder. It doesn't specifically say to kill someone else, just the act of killing someone, including yourself

But why though? The only person you hurt is yourself.

 

 

Wrong. Killing yourself will hurt your family. People that want to commit suicide can be helped and can live a life of happiness.

Suicide is taboo in the western world thanks to Christianity. If you look at other other cultures, even western ones that predate Christianity, suicide was more socially acceptable.

I always thought it was silly how suicide was illegal, if you can't stand it anymore, then you can't.

Also, if it's a crime, then you can't pay for it because it ends in death, and why should the family pay for it? They didn't commit the crime.

It's so that people think twice about killing themselves in certain places. It's pretty much the only way to stop people jumping off cliffs near beaches and whatnot.
