universetwisters
Evidently, oodles of people out there believe in conspiracy theories. These range from FEMA putting us all in camps to the government causing 9/11. But the question is: why? Why do people believe in some of the most ridiculous conspiracies. For example I'll use the "Tupac Is Still Alive" theory. A Serb I know says that Tupac is alive and lives in Serbia, removing Kebabs from fallen soldiers, but that's more than likely bullsh*t. So we all know how he died, yeah? He was chilling in a car gets shot at in a drive-by shooting, and dies six days later. But with oodles of stuff like this, folks still think he's alive. Some points on this site (http://www.donmega.com/20-reasons-why-tupac-is-still-alive.php) include, but aren't limited to: 2. 2Pac was cremated the day after he died... Since when does some one get cremated the day after a murder? There was no autopsy. Plus, no one can ask to dig up his grave like they wanted to do with Elvis and like they did with Abraham Lincoln. (In the new book entitled "Death Of Tupac Shakur" there is a picture of 2Pac receiving an autopsy. This may prove this reason to be false, or it's a fake (edited) picture. To my knowledge, 2Pac did not reveive an autopsy though. I don't know about this picture...) 8. There are many numerological coincidences. Tupac was gunned down exactly seven months after All Eyez On Me was released. The number seven keeps coming up too. He was shot on September 7th and survived on 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, and died the 13th. This could explain the title of his new album.... "The Don Killuminati: The 7 day theory." 2pac was 25. His age adds up to 7 (2 + 5). Even his time of death, 4:03, adds up to 7 (4 + 0 + 3). Also, on track five on the Makaveli album the voice at the begining says "And if the Lord returns in the coming seven days, then we'll see ya next time." He even talks about the number 7 on his album! There are more 'coincidences' too.. The newest is on his brand new double album entitled "R U Still Down?". This album was released on November 25th. 2 + 5 = 7. The 7 day theory continues! What's with this? 13. 2Pac always wore a bulletproof vest but for some strange reason he didn't wear one this time.. why not? (I've heard Suge Knight was caught on surveilance cameras at the fight telling 2Pac to take off the vest 'cause it was hot in there. If this is true, why would Suge Knight not want 2Pac wearing his vest???) Hell, there's even people who think Tupac faked his death in order to kill Biggie Smalls. Point being that even with the most basic explanations behind events, some dude in the midwest with tinfoil wrapped around his head will tell you otherwise. You can say the sky is blue, he'll say it's green. Conspiracies are crazy.

By your logic, I can say Spiderman and say he's real just he's on youtube. That doesn't have much validity.

Tyler
People's imagination is limited to the world they can immediately make sense of. The issue with this is that the world doesn't make sense. There are numerous loops and cracks in recorded history and when you further obscure those with a lens of bias from a lifetime of building belief systems and an internal rationale, it's no wonder why things like conspiracy theories are popular among people. Add to that the validity of certain conspiracies being true in history and the further coalescence of individual experience through globalized communications, and you have a melting pot of theories and fears concerning the world that manifests in conspiracy theories [among other things]. high91

Frank Brown
I've said this before, although I don't know how true it is. I believe people are scared. With events like 9/11 and the JFK assassination, it only took a group of men, or even one man, to change the course of history. That's a pretty scary thought, and as weird as it sounds, it's a lot more comforting to think that it requires a plot of highly trained CIA agents than to think that a man with a rifle or some guys that got their hands on household materials could do so much damage. TheGodDamnMaster
I made a similar thread a while back http://gtaforums.com/topic/646569-why-do-people-follow-alex-jones/ There are many dis-info government agents that spread hate and scorn for the conspiracy movement, like sivispacem. They do it because they the conspiracy theorists are right and don't want mass resistance. Not to mention that they're reptilians who want to harvest human fetuses for sustenance. In all seriousness though, it's all bullsh*t. I doubt that the United States government is as incompetent as Old Man Jenkins from Scooby Doo. the young hooligan
Whenever either me or one of my mates bring up the topic of conspiracy theories, we're almost always drunk. There's usually a rational explanation, but you're always going to get the tin-foil hat wearing looneys who think the government is spying on their brainwaves. Vercetti42
, or even one man, to change the course of history. That's a pretty scary thought, I know this exactly isn't a conspiracy but you hit the nail in the head here. Look at Hitler for instance, if he had won World War 2, we would have all probably been living like slaves now, that is a really scary thought. Just shows how one victory can totally alter the future of the world.

By now several resistance movements and revolutions would have overthrown his reich. One nation ruling the world is almost impossible, unless somehow said nation was the only one with access to nuclear armaments.
