high91
I don't think GTA and other open world games are intended for those who need to be spoon fed their gaming fun. I prefer them to give me a playground and tools and leave the rest of the details up to me. That to me is what Sandbox gaming is about. I didn't even do most of the side things in SA and the only reason I did them in V was access to certain rare vehicles. That is why I love open world games but I don't know about anybody else. This is a crime game, you can still do whatever the hell you and, steal whatever the hell you want thats on wheels or has wings or blades and kill whoever the hell you want. I wouldn't say this is a family game as you have to save your goddamned fatass cod playing son from a boat being highjacked by a known latin gang nor a Yoga game when you take a laptop and smash it up a frenchie instructor with an anal fixation. These are points I would make too if I could be arsed ....

Lil_B_The Basedgod
i fell like the game is boring too... the thing is, it just feels like an "empty" game. its like rockstar just put some empty ass features in the game and called it it a day. there are some things in the game that made me think "what the f*ck have rockstar been doing for the past 5 years?" when they said they listened to the "fans" when they were making the game, i thought that it was a good idea... then i realized that the "fans" were casual gamers who don't really give a f*ck about the empire rockstar built... better luck next time i guess... That's how I felt about San Andreas: for all the extra features and large map it had, there was still something missing that had been there in Vice City. As for GTA V, I think it's a brilliant game. woggleman
People need to realize that there taste in games or whatever else does not make them a superior person. I have accomplished quite a bit in my life and when I game I do prefer it not to be a calculus puzzle like so many of you seem to want GTA to be. That does not make me a lesser being. shattered-minds
Like you, I've also been playing since the original on PC. One of the biggest draws to the game is the sandbox nature of it. Most of the fun to be had is during freeroam doing whatever you want. If you struggle to think outside the box and rely on instructions of "go here, do this" in order to have fun, then I really feel sorry for you and you're kinda missing the point of the whole sandbox genre. Yes, the structured side missions/activities in this game aren't perhaps quite as plentiful (quality is subjective) as past instalments, but there's a plethora of things to do outside the confines of these structured tasks. It's easy to come on here and dismiss what other people find fun, making out its childish whist stroking your own ego and complimenting your oh so brilliant intellect. But it's also easy to dismiss anything to do with any GTA "you like blowing stuff up? Wow, try growing up. You may as well just smash up lego blocks" "you miss going to the gym to get CJ ripped? So you're going out of your way to play with a ripped black dude? I wonder what that says about you..." "Pfft, RC cars and planes? How old are you, 12?" "You miss that you could drive the train? Ha, nerd" I could go on, but I'm sure you get the picture. PkUnzipper and Officer Ronson

DaRkL3AD3R
I gotta agree with op. There really is nothing to do in free roam. Once you've beaten the game it's just a empty sandbox with overpowered ai that ruin your rampages. Lil_B_The Basedgod, sqre and TJGM
Geralt of Rivia
but now it just seems like its all about yoga, darts, driving cabs and taking pictures of celebrities etc.. That's all this GTA is to you? Are your eyes closed? like I said in my original post I feel since 2004 when SA came out on the PS2, graphics aside there hasn't been any progress whatsoever No progress whatsoever since 2004? ...No. You can feel however you like. But I'm gonna keep calling it a stupid feeling. I mean, no progress!? Is going from no ragdoll to ragdoll (Just one example) not progress to you? And then it comes down to you insinuating I'm gay becuase I said I would prefer being able to change my characters appearance over pressing left, up, right, triangle while I watch a grown man do yoga, but apparantly I'm the gay wierd guy that can't use his imagination? Think again. Anyway I'm glad you're having fun "blowing stuff up" and driving cars and stuff like that, I guess my lack of imagination is the reason game sucks ass, it's all my fault. At least you know you'll never be dissapointed with GTA or any other sandbox game for that matter, I bet whenever you close your eyes you enter imagination land where all the unicorns live on magical rainbows, you're so awesomezes, yay imagination, funz.... Lil_B_The Basedgod
just because a game has "tons of stuff to do" doesn't make it a good game or a fun game, its just a game with lots of stuff to do... i mean, like darkleader said, its really boring once the story is over, and its even more boring after 100% completion... i mean people say "use your imagination" but i just honestly feel like that just doesn't cut it for me... kudos to those who use their imagination and turn gta into a Disney paradise but im not really an "imaginative" person. im a boring gamer. i actually did find it easy to role play on gta tlad multiplayer. i made a black character with tattoos and pretended t be an uptown rider, but that as far into imagination as i got... but since there is no basketball in the game, i should just use my imagination and throw grenades through the basketball goal... i understand that basketball is something trivial but what i mean is... imagination, no matter how big and wide it is, is just a human construct of your mind, and it will only get you so far... TJGM
The real problem is that you aren't thinking creatively, GTA is 100x funner if you use your imagination to have a good time. The problem is that San Andreas, was a very structured game, after you've done it all, there was really nothing else left and you'd get really bored. The game appealed to people who couldn't think for themselves. The reason why people still play this games today is not because the activities, but rather because they're playing it their own way, the creative way. @Commie Well I got three characters, one who is thin, one who is fat and one who is buff, also changing fighting ins't something really appealing as you'll find yourself shooting more rather than fighting. So what could you do in V after you finished it that you couldn't do in SA? Because I can't think of much.
Officer Ronson
GTA V without side activities. - You could skydive moving around the entire city as long as you desire. - You can parachute and shoot oncoming enemies. - You can go against the traffic with Franklin's special ability in a bulldozer kidnapping oncoming bikers. - You can throw a Boulder ontop of a car with a bulldozer and see it get trashed. - You can kick somebody sitting near the docks and watch him drown. - You can go scuba diving hunting for briefcases that contain money. - You can try to enter the airport and get a 3 star wanted level then swap your vehicle from a normal car to a 747 and escape without the police ever knowing. - You can park a car near a very crowded area, throw a sticky bomb at the car and watch the bodies roll. And there is so much I can list but then I'll go to the side activities.. - Tennis - Yoga - Golf - Property Missions which range from: Protecting bussiness from an attacking gang, stop a burglar from stealing all of your money, dildo dodo alike missions, deliveries, private taxi fares, etc. - Taxi Fares - Bail bonds - Stunt jumps - Skydiving - Cinema - Hunting - Waste management - Arms trafficking - Rampages - Epsilon trial - Flight school

ViceCityStalker
The reason I titled this thread for vets specifically is becuase it seems people that didn't play the orginals seem to think it's really revoulutionary and amazing that you can drive around a fictional city shooting at the cops and flying jet planes, they think that's really "funz" and "awesomez", but for someone who has been paying GTA from the very begining even though I'm only 21, this game bores me to death, It's so bad I hadn't played it for a month until today and now it bores me even more, I've tried time and time again to enjoy it but I just can't, there's literally nothing fun to do, I feel like R* wasted 4 years making this game, it seems as though graphics aside they haven't made any real progress since SA it just keeps on regressing and it's a shame because GTA used to be my favorite gaming franchise but now it just seems like its all about yoga, darts, driving cabs and taking pictures of celebrities etc.. so basically what I wanna know is am I the only GTA vet on here that feels this way? You lack imagination therefore you will find nothing fun to do.
FutoDriver
As one of these so called "verterans" (I really hate that term, but let's get on with it). I've been playing the series since GTA 1 on the PC. I'm just going to say for sandbox gameplay GTA 2 is the best. I loved it's completely open storyline being a shadowy figure able to screw over which ever group I wanted. Game mechanics though, I would say GTA IV is best. It's a shame the physics were so cut down in V. I can only hope that's down to console limitations.
Mcquiz
It has a good replay value, a lot of good replay value. You're just seeing the game superficially, a freaking lot. People still play games like IV because they do whatever the hell they want, not because a f*ckign missions tells them what to f*cking do or having to annoyingly go to a restaurant and having to eat otherwise during a mission their character would starve and die for the sake of it. No it does not. GTA IV with its superior physics and more alive enviroment has. GTA V is just a bore, haven't even touched the game this year. Officer Ronson
Superior pshysics? You people seem very delusional if you think IV's are better, I am really feeling pitty to the people at the Driving Debate as its almost the same person every single post. I don't know how exaggerated leaning on a Crown Victoria while making a turn at regular speedis superior or realistic nor as how I could a limo at a low speed at the side and it would bounce off like if it had hydraulics.
