Cudwieser
Ok guy's and gals. I want some advice and help in setting up a guide for troll hunting. All help much appreciated and if this can be made good enough to be a sticky then all the better. The only thing I ask if this can be made as fair to general players as possible. I'll start with the prototype. if you can add to or modify then go ahead. When going about your business, what ever it may be, always take a second to check the extended map, D down twice, to see who's near (and within sniping range). If you go passive (always an option), stay off the pavements or take a car. If someone is near, stay out of passive and arm yourself. If they don't budge then walk away while facing them. If they pull then your dead anyway. When you respawn, expect grief and act accordingly, either flee in passive and using a car or confront and find cover. If they are coming for you, use it to your advantage. When you kill them keep making moves away from them and eventually they will give up. If not then Move to new session. Ultimately be wary of dots coming your way. Be aware of your surroundings and know where cover is. If you are escaping then learn to drive offensively (defensive won't get you anywhere), but sensibly (brakes can save lives). Otherwise use gardens and alleyways. If you are out for the hunt then grief is what you are going to get. You will effectively be trolling yourself so expect some of the replies above. If you are going to approach don't expect passive to be of any use any more, ultimately go armed and go clever. Be aware of cover and of what the target is doing. Be prepared to take risks. handcuff_charlie
Dont forget to brush your teeth and floss daily. Eat foods from each of the 4 food groups. Don't accept candy from strangers. Just say no to drugs. Oh, and matches aren't toys. x_-_Robski_-_x, kilopm and Malibu454
MadHaTT3R
You totally forgot about calling Lester to go Invisible, then approaching said Troll. My fav thing to do is catch those guys who are coming towards me, let em get close, then make em chase me.....all the way to my garage where they cant go. I get called lots of names, while I watch them wait outside from my big screen. TezST
JoeMamma81
lawl - speaking of calling Lester to go invisible. It doesn't work out the way the person intended when they go invisible to try to get a quick, easy kill on someone when that someone is up a ladder, peeking around the corner. Regular NPC's can't climb ladders (except cops when they're after you), so if you see someone coming up a ladder, and you're not wanted by the cops or don't see them anywhere around you, you can only guess that it's some asshat who's off-radar coming to get you. That's happened to me a few times (I've been the one up the ladder, peeking the corner, normally with a bounty) and the "off the radar" guy gets pissed off when I see them coming at me and I kill them. Kinda off-topic, sorry...but too funny not to share since you talked about the "off-the-radar" thing from Lester.
JC Hammer
We have different definitions of "Trolls" I always thought of them as morons flaming internet forums with topics they know will be inflamatory. You seem to be talking about other players and assuming they're Trolls. Nice point about expanding the radar though, very helpful.....
Cudwieser
I am referring to players, but mainly those who come looking for trouble. Getting hit on the off is understandable but those who persist on picking the same target for no reason are what I refer to as trolls.
mfoster09
Dude. There is a reason everybody has machine guns in this game, instead of pillows or f*ckin bags of chocolate. We are SUPPOSED to be killing each other. Unless these other players are triple penetrating you with tanks, they are not trolls, they are playing the game as cock* intended. We still cool though cuddy kilopm
Cudwieser
As I said the odd confrontation is fair do's and if you are heading through or to a conflict area you can expect a bit of cross fire, but if you are heading from the fun and it is clear that you are not engaging then unless you've done something to deserve the grief, I would consider any persistent killing as trolling. I respect the nature of the game and I expect gunplay, but if I'm avoiding an area the don't come looking for me. If I'm heading your way then I know the risk. Ultimately we aren't all supposed to be killing. If we were supposed to only shoot each other then every reward and objective would involve shooting each other, but they don't. Now I like a deathmatch as much as the next guy, but sometime players just want to explore other parts of the game, like the scenery, locals, crates or just try a bit of impromptu racing. There are plenty of things in the game outside of shooting. .Shooting is just a by product of the game. As for types of troll Tanks are a pain but so are the stalkers and 2 year old, egotist mic jockey's (the latter is usually just funny until they try to man up, then it's just pathetic). I agree there is a difference in what is trolling and what is general game play (different players have different tolerances), but in my opinion any unneeded grief that persists beyond a random altercation is trolling. If you ain't looking for it and keep getting it then you are being trolled. Thankfully most players stick to their own and generally don't look for trouble, but some do. What I want from this thread is a strategy for when you are playing casually and don't want persistent grief from trolls and to have as full and fair experience as possible without the needless egos and griefing (and subsequent complaining. Cudwieser
Hold on, back off. I never said killing wasn't. I said that it isn't the be all and end all of the game and stated that not all players are out specifically for the kill. I can see my consideration for all players and things they might want to do are falling on deaf ears here, but what I was looking to achieve was some sort of comprehensive guide to counter or approach trolls in the game. I like a gun fight as much as the next guy and respect repercussion for getting involved but I have had involvement from others that I am not looking to get involved with and while getting blown up once is one thing, when someone persists that is trolling. When no one is engaging you, take the hint and find someone else, There are plenty of gun happy bullet magnets like yourself to play with, but since I'm dealing with a bunch of suicide jockeys I would ask that the mods close this thread. P.s I'm far from the holy of holy's and never professed to be a good guy. I try to respect all concerns (not always successfully). While I appreciate a bit of respect for an effort I don't expect it, but what I don't appreciate or stand for are needless slurs. If you want to criticise an idea or what I've said, then do so saying if you agree or not or if it is a sh*t idea or not. Just don't make it personal. SomeRandomDave
I just kill anyone that comes near me... I have no mercy for random players anymore. They all deserve to die. If I don't kill them, they'll kill me.
