theregomatt
Well with the no ocean mod it kinda looks like one just bad draw distance lol , bike stunts , going down deep, and more i guess. Replaces the scenery which idc about
Ash_735
It's only bad draw distance as it's expecting to be matched with the timecyc, which underwater is purposely low to give that, ...underwater feeling. I'm sure with more tweaking they can be extended but even still, i don't think any of the underwater materials have LODS.

Officer Ronson
Well ThattGuy, the thing is the ocean takes a lot of space, if I could swap the whole detail of the ocean with a big desert then instead of the desert I would atleast make another town nearby. McGyver55
What kind of dessert? Pudding is too squishy and baked goods get stale too quickly. I'd say replace it with Bacon... everything goes good with bacon. Raavi
No, the ocean is quite fun, I love boating as I do in real life. Giant desert is bland and boring. McGyver55
The ocean makes the most sense... it is a barrier that can have detail yet beyond a certain distance has no exploration value and gets boring so you focus on the detailed and relevant areas of the game... a giant desert would not work as well... would you just die or scroll back if you went too far in one direction? Islands and barriers like mountains (in other games) keep the focus where it needs to be. PeriodZeroHero
I Am NADA
....there's already a desert. Why do we need it extended? I like jetskiing through piers and over waves, and fighting sharks and exploring underwater. PeriodZeroHero

Consoles wouldn't handle it. GTA games have always pushed the systems to their limits Do you have any knowledge of how computers work? Evidently not. Consoles can handle a map that is a million times the size of GTAV's. The only boundaries when it comes to map size are development time, and disc space. Neither of which are related to the console/computer/whatever itself. Make sure you know what you're talking about before spewing out your made-up "information", dude. Fail_At_GTA
I never really go in the ocean. I just don't find it fun or enjoyable. Sure, it looks nice, but I would rather have that development time spent on making maybe a new minigame, or having a couple more interiors, maybe even a few more missions or even car models. Those would be the things people enjoy the most. In all honesty, I only spent time in the ocean to get all the collectable things. There's just no reason to go underwater besides the collectables, missions, or if you want to max out your lung capacity for whatever reason. Official General
Nah. I'd have kept the ocean and just added two more major cities, added more smaller towns, toned down on the mountains, and put a bit more open desert/scrub.

I'd have kept the ocean and just added two more major cities, added more smaller towns, toned down on the mountains, and put a bit more open desert/scrub. I didn't like the amount of mountains they had in V. Instead I wish they had large forest areas you could get lost in like in SA. Mt. Chilliad and another small mountain was enough. There was too much desert area and mountains outside of LS Is it not a bit rich that you accuse me of being a nerd, but then you're the one trying to be a "nerd" by pretending to know what you're talking about, e.g. "consoles can't handle it". Biggie Kaniff
What if you made the water sink, revealing the ocean bottom? It would be cool if you could explore the bottom with a car or so. Of course the ocean belongs, but it's a thought I have. Imagine roaming around on the detailed sea bottom in a Bifta or a Sanchez. high91 and I Am NADA
RoadRunner71
I would have replaced the eastern/south-eastern side of the map with some desertic landscape where you could actually feel isolated, since the default one was too small. Something like RDR map. Maybe even add a small territory representing Mexico near the US border too.

This^^ 100% ^^ I would like to see more desert but would like it to be proportionate also. By this I mean still have loads of water and loads of desert so you always have options. Sometimes I wanna burn through the desert like a ghost rider... Sometimes I just wanna go out to sea when it is rainig and thundering... Ash_735
Just to say, consoles could handle a bigger map, it's streaming, so the restriction is design time and disc space. I mean in theory, removing the water does pretty much make it a huge map slab, the videos of people riding around look good, some amazing stuff hidden there that we don't get to see when slowly moving around the dark waters.
