While 5-7-5 is the standard English form its not absolutely required...17 syllables in three lines, each line forming a single idea which links with the other two to create a unified 'image' is the goal. Rhyming is not required or even necessarily desirable. IMO (not actually an English teacher or poetry major or whatever).
